It was in the afternoon that a figure walked into an older house with bricks that would crumble in a couple of years.
A hand stayed on the door to feel the old wood as if reminiscing a past left unspoken. A foot crossed over the threshold slowly walking and taking in the interior.
Silence followed everywhere the intruder roamed. A quiet house with dust shows that care has been lacking in it's up keeping, but it once was a very lively place.
In the kitchen where time stood still with dust floating in the air, a fridge was decorated very haphazardly. Art hung on the fridge, in varying degrees of mastery.
On a wall pictures could be seen showing a timeline pieced togeather of the family. A toddler and her crayons drawing on the wall. She probably got into big trouble onlookers would internally chuckle looking the photos.
The next photo continues on with the same girl but a little older, she is giving off a big goofy smile as she is showing off her doodles a picture of her new family showing that she is a big sister now.
It continued on to showcase the two siblings a very clumsy and artistic girl and a younger boy who always looked annoyed at his older sister.
In another photo she had won an art contest during middle school. The artwork was on the fridge but the bow was on the photo on the wall.
As the photos continued on so did the children age, showing holidays and birthdays.
The girl won another art contest in high school, and the bow has been treated the same as the previous.
The most recent photo showed the girl with her family smiling holding a college acceptance letter.
There were no more photos to show what happened next to the sister and brother, but one could assume that the family had met a tragic fate.
The unknown figure sat on a bed in what was the girl's room based off of the art supplies scattered on the desk in the corner. A dust cloud formed causing the figure to sneeze.
Her hair got in her face, and she used her hand to brush it aside. The mysterious figure was the girl but with no smile and sadness darkening her face.
Azalea Bergen, her name was on the door, sat on that dusty bed questioning. She questioned everything from why she was born to what she did to have what happened happen.
It was just her in this place, but who knows how long this house would last. Could she even afford to keep up with the payments? No, there was no way she could afford to, not with her brother in a coma in the hospital.
It was better to preserve what she could and earn some money. She was moving into her college dorm soon and could only keep so much of her family's belongings.
Azalea made up her mind and grabbed a broom to start cleaning up the house.
Starting with her parents room was awkward, and lead her to realize certain things where better left undiscovered.
Her brother's room was even more awkward as she had get out everything that he had hidden. Blushing, Azalea put on some gloves she found under the kitchen sink and started throwing stuff away. It wasn't like anyone was going to be using them anyway.
She spent the next couple of days going through her family's belongs keeping some but deciding to sell most of it. After going around the city and selling her discarded items at different stores and donating some, she put her family's house up for sale. With this money she could afford her brother's hospital bills for a couple of months.
