It only took a couple weeks for someone to buy her house as everyone wants to live in the city, houses were always bought fast.
It was a good thing the college had dorms for their students, otherwise she would be homeless at the moment.
Azalea had already moved into a dorm room when she finished the registration process for her classes, her counselor was willing to help make it happen for her due to the accident that happened.
Azalea had not been brave enough to visit her brother yet, but knew that she needed to, and decided if any day was today would do it because class started tomorrow.
Since she was already at the hospital, she decided to go ahead and pay for her brother's treatment ahead of time. Who knew what her schedule would be like in the near future.
She walked into the hospital, and went up to a nurse, "I am here to pay my brother's hospital bill. His name is Thaen Bergen."
She was muttering but the nurse heard her regardless.
" Dear, just go to the front desk, and they will be able to help you."
The nurse pointed out where the front desk was and urged her to go in that direction.
I guess the nurse is busy.
After paying the bill at the hospital front desk, Azalea was able to secure Thane's treatment for the next couple months. It would buy her time to get a job for her brother's treatment.
She left the front desk to go down the hallway avoiding the nurses with their stares and apologizes for her suffering.
She sat in a chair across her brother's bed, after getting to his room. It was too white and smelled like a hospital and stung her nose.
Looking at the way he was wrapped up in bandages like a mummy. His vitals were stable and could be seen on the machines next to him. It was the only hope she had towards him waking up.
Looking down at the paperwork in her hands, she sighs.
"I know that you can still hear me lil bro," she spoke in a weak voice, "shall I turn on the news for you, to keep you entertained?"
He is not going to respond, so it doesn't even matter what I do.
Azalea went over to the table next to the bed where her brother lay and picked up the remote to the TV.
Breaking news: a new dungeon outbreak has occurred. Hunters from the Counsel have been dispatched to the scene. We advise all civilians to stay outside of the quarantine zone in the South Canta District, while hunters clean up the scene.
"It looks like there was a dungeon break today," she quietly said to no one.
"Just like what happened to you and our parents..."
If it wasn't for the dungeon outbreak, her family would be living a normal life like any other family. The monster just had to break out and ruin her life.
Looking back now her life felt so surreal and fake, everyone so happy, only for everything to come crashing down.
"Thaen, I will try to visit often, but I am going to be busy with both school and work, I hope that you can understand," Azalea looked to her brother and grimaced.
She turned to the door leaving the room. After walking down the hallway, with tears in her eyes she wondered how she was going to live her life now.
Dinner was convenience store food she had picked up on the way back. The microwave in her dorm was the Holy Grail in her sufferings, always allowing her to eat warm food. The college didn't provide meals till the semester started.
Azalea cleaned up the space a little and repacked her bag not sure what to bring as it was only the first day. She set her alarms, and climbed into bed.
In her dreams, all she saw were the nightmares that came to haunt her as everything went black and sleep took her.
It was her High School graduation and she was waiting for parents and brother to show up to congratulate her.
She wore her graduation gown which was itchy and patchy, probably second hand and would be kept for her brother to use. She scratched her arms while she stood waiting.
Azalea had been standing outside with the rest of the students alone, when the others had their families with them. It angered her terribly.
Why...of all days...do they not show up.
The families and former graduates all began to trickle out and leave, she scratched her arm again.
Bing.
Bing.
Her phone was going off, it had to be her family she couldn't wait to go home and change clothes.
She looked down to read the notifications coming in.
Mom- We got stuck in traffic. We are almost there. See you soon.
Lil Bro- picture
Her brother just sent her a picture but it was failing to load. It would probably load in a couple minutes, and hopefully by then her parents would be here to pick her up.
Brrrr Brrrr Brrrr
Her phone and everyone else's phone were going off at the same time. It was the dungeon alert that all citizens were accustomed too. A dungeon outbreak was in the area.
Brrrr Brrrr
Warning: You are in the vicinity of a dungeon outbreak, please seek shelter and await responders.
She looked down again to read the warning pop up.
Oh no.
She was not enjoying her day at all today, because the dungeon break was within the area of South Canta Arts Academy.
Her high school.
She looked again at her phone to see if her family sent anything new, as she and everyone else was ushered into the school and placed in lock down. All exits were locked and everyone was forced into the gymnasium.
Her brother's image had finally loaded, showcasing a giant portal with a claw poking out.
That was it, her family was going to die because they wanted to come see her ceremony, and there was nothing she could do about it.
Azalea started crying looking at the last photo from her brother, still scratching her arm but this time in worry.
