Chapter 4 - Tomorrow News

Chapter 4

Writer's POV

Laura leaned in closer to Hazel as they stood amidst the tall crops in the west field, a hint of excitement dancing in her eyes.

"Hey, Hazel, wanna come to the market tomorrow?" Laura asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Hazel looked up from where she'd been pulling weeds, curiosity piqued. "What's going on at the market tomorrow?"

Laura's grin grew wider. "The commander of the elite kingdom hunters is coming back. He's returning from the battle with those vampires."

Hazel's eyes widened slightly. "Lexi, right? I've heard he's... pretty formidable."

Laura's cheeks flushed a soft pink at the mention of Lexi's name. She glanced around nervously before leaning in closer again, her voice dropping to a whisper.

"I-I kinda... really like him, Hazel. Lexi's the most feared in the kingdom, but there's something about him... I don't know, he's just so... intense."

Hazel smiled softly but shook her head slightly. "I don't really get the appeal. He's too proud and aloof for my taste."

Laura nodded, her eyes sparkling with a mix of excitement and nervousness. "Yeah. He's got that aura about him. Like he's always on alert, ready for anything. And those eyes... they're like they're piercing through you."

Hazel chuckled. "Sounds like you've noticed him a lot."

Laura's blush deepened. "I-I might've watched him a time or two. I mean, who wouldn't want to see the great Lexi in action?"

Hazel playfully nudged Laura. "You'll get to see your crush tomorrow. Maybe you'll get to talk to him."

Laura's smile was a mix of anticipation and nervousness. "I hope so. I mean... I don't know if he'd even notice me."

Hazel laughed. "Of course he'll notice you. You're awesome, Laura."

As they talked, the sun began to set, casting long shadows across the fields. Laura glanced toward the path leading to the village, a dreamy look in her eyes.

"I wonder what it'll be like... seeing him tomorrow."
