It was one thing to learn control and another to feel the weight of its significance. The clangor of noises was intense, the kind radiating a treacherous vibe, and Ravenna knew it was already too late to return her words.

Half of the courtroom demanded her execution while the rest remained silent. One of them included Lady Myriah Devrin, who rather smirked behind her veil with an unfathomable expression and Lord Thorold seated quietly on his seat, merely watching.

A few others did too, but Ravenna was daunted to look.

She had always questioned her bravery and sometimes, Madame Ruby often reminded her of how far her mouth can go awry. And during those times, Ravenna could swear it didn't feel like her.

Perhaps the magic had another strange effect influencing the path of her thought and the movement of her lips. The drowsiness remained, yet she fought to keep her head together.
