Chapter 10 - Rage Of Revenge

The man chuckled after hearing Nathan's words, then smiled.

"Of course, young lord Nathan. I am meant to serve you, and that is why I want to keep the promise I made to your father, by making sure you are safe."

Nathan caught his stare, then instructed, "Please, let's go. I'm already feeling uncomfortable in these woods."

They began walking further, until suddenly, they came across a door—standing on its own, without a building.

"We are here," the man informed.

"We are here?" Nathan raised a brow, confusion written all over his face. He had been expecting something different—certainly not just a door without a building.

The man chuckled knowingly, before replying.

"This is the entrance to the underground building I told you about."

He then walked forward and pushed the door open.

Behold—it was an underground passage, with steps leading downwards.

Nathan, still puzzled, could only peek his head inside, unsure either to proceed forward.

The man shifted his gaze to Nathan. "Let's go inside, trust me, it's totally safe."

Nathan, just barely got to know more about the man and he was already assuring him safety into a hole.

This made Nathan stare, then shake his head dismissively.

Within Nathan, he knew he could take the man down if needed, the man was old, around sixties so he looks and appears weak. Apart from that, Lately, Nathan had been feeling an intense burst of energy growing within him.

That alone had given him a little confidence in himself, to be able to stand his ground against anything that would come toward him.

Nathan stepped onto the staircase and walked downwards while the man led the way.

The moment he went deeper, the door at the top slammed shut, and just after that, the lights suddenly turned on.

Behold—a luxurious sight stretched before him. It was so overwhelming that Nathan's jaw nearly fell to the ground.

The luxury appeared to be more mechanized, entirely made of artificial intelligence as if being inside a space ship

He had never seen anything so perfect in his entire life.

"Stunned, right?" The man stared at Nathan as he admired the luxurious ambiance of the underground chamber.

"All you see here belonged to your father. This underground base is bigger than you think. It was also used for his research, a project he was working on before he passed on."

"Wow… this is incredible," Nathan muttered in awe.

"Yes, of course it is," the man replied smiling. "There's more you need to see that will get you even more stunned," he added.

After a while, the man offered Nathan some drinks, and something to eat. They sat somewhere very comfortable. The place had a vast glass display of wildlife, and through it, a lion could be seen. It looked like a wildlife reserve.

"Wow, is that a real lion?" Nathan asked, stunned at the display. He was wondering if it was just another hologram, displaying something that's not real.

"Yes, of course, it's real," the man nodded.

"So, young lord Nathan…" the man began, but Nathan's voice interrupted.

"Even the sharks in the other glass are real? How large is this underground building?" Nathan asked, his eyes darting around.

The man chuckled with a smile. "Larger than you could ever imagine. Your father's project is so vast that even the government can't afford the money he had poured into it."

Nathan had lived his whole life in dependence. When he was with Laura, even the food he ate had to be begged for or worked for. Seeing this luxurious place before him almost made him think he was dreaming. The realization of how wealthy his father must have been—that he could own this entire place—kept wrestling in his mind.

"I think this is the time to fully introduce myself, Lord Nathan," the man's voice suddenly sounded.

"My name is Henry, your father's butler. Your father wasn't just my boss, but also my very close friend. He entrusted you to me—to protect you, and to ensure his legacy lived on. But sadly, if nothing is done, his legacy will fade away…"

Nathan's full attention was fixed on Henry as he spoke.

"You were my father's butler, and also his close friend? That means you must have known my mother," Nathan said.

He reached into his pocket, brought out a picture, and handed it to Henry. "Check this. Does this woman look like her?"

Henry collected the picture and stared at it for a long moment.

"How long have you had this picture in your possession?" Henry asked.

"I don't know. I just know I've always had it with me. I can't recall," Nathan replied.

Henry chuckled deeply, then handed the picture back to Nathan. "She's your mother. But sadly… she died the same way your father did."

Nathan lowered his head at Henry's last words.

"Please, don't you have a hint of who did this? Could it be the same Leonard?" Nathan asked, his teeth gritted.

"For now, I'm not certain he is the main suspect. But the most important thing is figuring out how to take him down. He had a hand in your father's death."

Nathan's knuckles cracked. "Then I will kill him," he growled through clenched teeth.

Henry shook his head dismissively. "No, Lord Nathan. That would be the greatest mistake you could make. If you act now, you'll only make things worse. Not only that—you could get yourself killed. Leonard is way more dangerous than you have ever expected. He got eyes round the city, he's not just a tycoon but also a mafia boss."

"Then what are you suggesting? How can we take him down, I swear anybody that has a hand in my parents death will surely pay." Nathan raised his head as he asked, his teeth gritted.

"For now, let's just remain low and strategize a way to bring all of them down—not only Leonard, but also his minions, and anyone else whose hands are involved in this," Henry said.

Nathan nodded. "I think I trust you."

Henry smiled. "For now, I'm the only one who knows and understands your past. so work with me hand in hand to achieve our similar interests."
