Chapter 10 - Broken?

He fell directly onto a downward-sloping massive cliff. The cliff was covered with ice, so it was slippery. He slid at high speed. The bottom of the cliff was filled with lava. It spurted skyward like fountains. Inezeya turned sideways to watch the lava-fountains, and smiled. The music calmed.

"What a view."

As he progressed, the cliff started entering under another cliff. Music suddenly grew aggressive. He still smiled. To avoid the protrusions, he rolled from his lying position. After rolling and rolling, the cliff finally emerged from under the other cliff. The deep-red painted sky appeared. Lava was still erupting.

The cliff started rotating. Giving strength to his hands, he stood up. He accelerated as he moved forward. The cliff rotated horizontally. Stones fell into the lava. Pits leading to lava appeared. To avoid falling there, he flipped over them. The cliff curved left and ended. From above and below thinner strips of cliffs appeared. With a backflip he leapt to the cliff coming from above but going under the one coming from below. To avoid collision, he did a horizontal flip and another backflip to land on his feet. He continued sliding at full speed with his back turned.

As he progressed, the cliff divided in two and started rotating. He did a spin and jumped to the left cliff. The cliffs continued dividing within themselves. Within time, the cliffs shrunk to 5 centimeters wide, stretching far apart. Inezeya's expression turned serious. His pupils still dilated. His heart trembled with adrenaline. He extended his body upward, opened his hand, and slid on four fingers.

The lower chasm approached upward. Before the cliff he was on ended, he pressured his fingers and propelled himself. He glided through the air. With flips, he reached the lower cliff.

Sliding at immense speed, the cliff curved inward. He pressed himself tightly to the slippery outer surface. The sky was now full of lava for him.

His breathing accelerated. His body began to tire. He did not relent.

He continued sliding extremely fast.

The cliff rotated. The red blazing sky finally returned. The lava was crossed. Sliding slowed. The cliff reached its end. Music calmed.

Inezeya slid down.

While gliding, the earphones slipped from his ears to his shoulder.

At the last moment, he grabbed the edge of a cliff with one hand. He was breathless and extremely tired. His vision darkened. Cliffs, sky, all mixed together. From fatigue, he could no longer understand how to hold onto anything.

With a last desperate effort, he reached for something to grab. In fact, he held nothing.

He fell downward.

Between two cliffs, his body spun helplessly mid-air.

Desperately, he stared into the crimson sky. He understood nothing anymore.

Through a long veil of mist, he finally landed in a shallow, slightly rippling lake. The cold water sobered him a little. With a serious gaze, he got out of the lake. The music player was broken.

"I'll fix it later… For now, just move forward, ma man."

The space between the two cliffs was a bit narrow. Around him, pink and red hues swirled in heavy mist. A small stream flowed into the lake. Both the lake and the stream were blood-colored. After taking some steps, a very thin and familiar humming echoed from everywhere. With each step, he got closer to the sound. As the humming stopped, his name echoed from everywhere with the same voice.

"Inezeyaa! InEzeYaA!"

The voice was very loud.

When he entered a larger area with snow on top, the mist cleared.

He gasped. Eyes wide, heart pounding.

Before him stood a figure pierced through by colossal spikes, almost all its body drenched in blood. It was a small girl with caramel-colored hair, pink and light blue eyes, extending her hand to Inezeya.

"Inezeya…"

Tears flowed from his eyes.

As he reached out his hand to her, a snowflake fell to the ground…

Then the entire layer of snow collapsed over them…
