Chapter 11 - Coffin

It was a night from the winters of his childhood.

The clouds were sparse. Stars gleamed across the sky. Two full moons slightly enlightened the surface. One moon was right-beneath the other. Curtains of blue and green auroras covered the sky. Frost clung to the air. Mountains, trees, grasses were all buried in snow.

Among the mountains, a village nestled on snowy hills. Each hill had a different size. A river flowed at the bottom. None of the wooden houses stood taller than two floors. The lights were out… The streets were empty and silent.

From a shed, a dark blue short-haired and bearded man exited. A long white furry scarf was wrapped around his throat. His under-eyes were bruised. Sternness and anger covered his face. After a few steps he stopped and turned his head back. The cold air slightly waved his short hair.

"Move!"

Shortly after, the man walked forward.

The air blew towards a light-blue-haired child standing before the shed. His medium-short hair waved. His gaze was completely hollow and tired. Dark bruises stained the skin beneath his eyes. His lips were dry and cracked. All his clothing was thin. Around his neck hung a chain in place of a scarf.

Gazing at the sky he walked heavy and slow. On both his wrists hung slightly short chains. An iron coffin larger than his size was bound to the chains. Each side of the coffin had holes. Its outside was beautifully carved. The chains rubbed his wrists, leaving wounds. While the auroras reflected in his tired and life-weary eyes, Inezeya thought…

"Atmosphere… We're alike... Even though you're thin you protect… Yet still won't your kindness be realized…"

They advanced towards the mountains. The coffin was far heavier than his own body. His heavy and slow steps sinked into the snow. He had no choice but to move forward.

At last, they reached a magnificent valley stretched between two mountains. Small rivers flowed along the bottom of both sides. One flowed towards the village and the other far away.

After walking and walking, into eyesight came the fact that their road was closed. Rocks had fallen from the mountains. Only a narrow gap remained to pass through. Without hesitation the man walked easily and calmly sideways through the rocks. Dragging his burden with a heavy coffin chained to him, Inezeya sighed in exhaustion and pain and turned his body…

"Come on buddy. Hold tight."

After lifting the coffin with his legs, he hugged it. Since the coffin swallowed his weight, it blocked his sight. By peering through a tiny hole on its surface, he could advance.

At the moment he entered among the rocks, his elbows and hands…

"Shhhhhhkkk!"

Scraped and bled on the jagged and sharp rocks.

Tightly hugging the heavy coffin, Inezeya clenched his teeth against the pain. His face twisted and all his muscles strained. Little by little he coughed and breathed. The exit was not visible. As he advanced, freezing cold water rose and wet his feet. After walking and walking, his hands and elbows were covered in blood. His blood had drawn streaks on the rocks. Silently in pain, he screamed.

Freezing water climbed to his knee. Each step became heavier. Its end began to be seen. With his hardest effort and patience he advanced. His pain surpassed torture. The icy water passed his waist. His steps became even heavier…

Finally he stumbled out.

Before having the chance to rest…

In front of him an endless gigantic waterfall…

"ROAARRR!!"

Its freezing waters violently flowed, and waved everywhere…

As they moved towards the waterfall, the water rose to his chest.

Inezeya could no longer advance. He continued to hug the coffin. Each wave slammed against his face every second. He became unable to breathe… He began to drown. When the man saw the child faltering he stopped and turned with fury. The water surged to the man's chest.

"You worthless shit!"

With one hand he seized the chain tied to the child's neck and dragged him. Together they plunged into the gigantic, violently flowing, and freezing waterfall. The waterfall poured upon them mercilessly violently and heavily. The water did not affect the man. The high pressure of the waterfall, height of the water, and being pulled by the chain from his neck, made Inezeya nearly drown.

Passing through the waterfall, the man still dragged him onward.

At last they reached a high riverbank. With a single violent motion, the man flung him by his chain onto the riverbank. The heavy coffin crashed down upon him immediately after. The man climbed up the shore and watched him.

Pinned beneath its weight, the boy's body convulsed. Water poured from his mouth as he gasped for air… Squeezing his ribs, the weight of the coffin cut his breath even more.

The man approached with heavy steps. His voice was hard enough to suppress the roar of the waterfall.

"If you don't get up!..."

With his foot he pushed the coffin off Inezeya.

"... The waterfall will be your grave!"
