"Boss, we hit the jackpot this time!"
Inside the vault, a robber excitedly clutched a bag of cash.
"Cut the chatter. Time's up, let's get out of here. The cops will be here soon," the leader urged, then picked up the last bag of cash and bent to go through the hole.
But just as he reached the exit, a man in a leather coat and a black hood was crouching, a loaded Rifle pointed at them.
"Four, what are you doing? Get out of the way and let us through!" a robber asked, but the leader's expression behind his mask changed. Sensing something was wrong, he reached for his gun, but bullets from the Rifle instantly pierced his wrist.
Bang, bang, bang!
The next moment, flames erupted from the Rifle's muzzle, and before the others could react, several bullets accurately pierced their ankles, blood gushing from the wounds.
They never expected a Sneaky One to be waiting at the door. They all fell down, wailing.
After confirming that the injured legs of the robbers wouldn't allow them to get far, Bai Ye immediately got into the vehicle they'd prepared for their escape and drove away.
Ten minutes later, Bai Ye parked the old, mismatched car in the deserted Suburbs. He pulled out the money-filled sack and counted the contents.
He had roughly 400,000 USD, seven gold bars of varying weights, and several pieces of jewelry and bills. If he sold everything, he could probably get over a million in cash.
Looking at his assets, Bai Ye breathed a sigh of relief. Now, it was time to launder the money. But he wasn't worried about that; after all, he had a chan…
Bai Ye paused slightly. He heard the rhythmic tapping of a cane against the ground behind him.
His awareness at its peak, he turned around and saw a white man approaching him. The man was wearing a tight leather suit, a red hood that covered everything above his nose, and he was using a cane.
Bai Ye: …
He really didn't know what to say this time. He robbed a bank. He decided to rob the rich and give to the poor, and now he ran into Daredevil in the middle of nowhere. Why was his luck so bad tonight?
"Hey, kid. You took something that doesn't belong to you." The man said with a strange smile.
"Daredevil? Aren't you busy with your whole Kingpin thing? What brings you all the way out here to this remote place at this time of night?"
Bai Ye said, backing away step by step, retreating to the front of the car. His left hand rested on the open window, and a harmless smile played on his face.
"You've heard of me? Then you should know what I'm going to do to you. Cooperate and surrender, and you won't have to suffer."
Daredevil approached, leaning on his baton, his expression relaxed. After all, dealing with a petty thief was just a little dessert after dinner.
But when he got within three meters of Bai Ye, Daredevil's face changed slightly.
Because with two "click" sounds, the man in front of him had switched on the car stereo with incredible speed.
Judging from the sound, his speed was even faster than his own.
Instantly, a hit song of the year, playing on the car stereo, echoed across the empty highway. Accompanying the music was Bai Ye's right leg, kicking out mid-air.
"Whoosh!"
The kick, exceeding the limits of the human body, pierced the air, creating a sharp whistling sound as it aimed for Daredevil's chest.
But the sound was caught first by Daredevil, who, amidst the chaotic music, immediately determined Bai Ye's attack range.
Because Bai Ye's attack was too fast, and both were at the peak of human limits in strength and speed, the difference in physical strength wasn't significant.
Adding to the interference of the noise, when Daredevil reacted, he was already unable to dodge. He could only lean back, shift his center of gravity down slightly, and create some distance, using the opportunity to raise his baton to block his chest.
"Thud!" A sound like stone hitting metal came from the iron baton. After being struck by the kick, Daredevil's legs scraped across the ground for four or five meters before he could barely stop sliding.
Meanwhile, Bai Ye used the force of the kick to do a backflip in the air and return to the car. Without hesitation, he reached into the window to grab the rifle and give Daredevil a couple of magazines.
But his arm had barely extended when it was firmly entangled by a silver wire.
The grappling hook, launched from the multi-functional baton in Daredevil's hand, had ensnared Bai Ye.
Daredevil had shed his earlier casual demeanor, his face now etched with a serious expression. The brief exchange had shown him that the guy before him, though sounding young, was a force to be reckoned with. He could be a future supervillain.
But, it was fortunate. From their previous skirmish, he had gauged Bai Ye's strengths and weaknesses. He had some cleverness, but no combat skills and no killer instinct.
Although Bai Ye was superior in strength and speed, his physical defense was bizarre. From the sound, the kick Bai Ye landed on his baton suggested Bai Ye's right foot was probably fractured.
"Sigh." With his right hand restrained, Bai Ye sighed helplessly. He immediately abandoned the idea of using the Rifle, grabbed the grappling hook, and charged towards Daredevil.
Damn, damn, damn. Shit, I'll just have to end this in one move. Bai Ye thought as he ran.
Hearing Bai Ye's charge, Daredevil's expression became grim, ready to end the fight in a single move.
"Crack! Crack! Crack!"
'What's that noise?' Daredevil's expression shifted to one of confusion. A series of tiny cracking sounds were coming from Bai Ye, who was charging towards him.
Part of it, Daredevil knew, was the sound of Bai Ye's leg bones groaning under the immense strain of his running.
But another part of the cracking sounds, Daredevil didn't know, was the sound of Bai Ye's body healing and breaking as he added points to his stats.
Yes, during his run, Bai Ye had increased his strength once more, reaching 1.6!
'Wait, this speed is wrong!' Daredevil was shocked, but by the time he realized it, it was too late.
Because Bai Ye's figure had already closed in on him like a ghost.
Thump!
Bai Ye's left foot, as firm as an old tree's roots, slammed into the asphalt road. The enormous force penetrated the ground, directly leaving a half-inch-deep footprint on the hard highway.
And his other leg, raised high, slammed into Daredevil's defenseless chest like a cannonball.
With a clear sound of bones breaking, Daredevil was sent flying. He spun in the air, tumbling back eight or nine meters before spitting out a mouthful of blood and collapsing on the ground, unable to move.
