Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

"I hope he's okay," Catherine was rocking her baby and was worried sick for husband, and then a deep pain cut quick into her like a shot, it wasn't an injury type of pain but a one that comes from losing a mate.

"No...,no...,no," she wailed loudly, tears pool in her eyes before streaking down her cheeks.

"They've taken him away from me," she bent down unable to stand due to the weakness that comes with the pain, she had running nose and her face was all red due to crying too much.

"No matter what, I won't let them take my child she's all I have left," she told herself, taking a deep breath to calm herself down.

"I need to be stronger for my daughter," she braced herself up, dropping her baby carefully on the table and went to look for a first aid box that was inside her husband's shelves, she brought it out dropping it on the table besides her baby and then drawed out a sword from her husband's holster belt.

"I'm sorry baby, I don't mean to do this, please forgive your mother," she said kissing the baby on the forehead.

___

"No!! it can't be!! oh dear Moon Goddess why did you take him away from me," Brenda knew that the excruciating pain means that her husband is dead, she wailed bitterly at the realization of being a widow.

"What's wrong Mom," Liam questioned worriedly after hearing his mother scream, his sister, Rebecca was also worried about their mother and was looking at her with inquisitiveness.

In other not to worry her kids, Brenda wiped out her tears before turning to look at them,

"It's nothing, I'm okay, go and pack your thing immediately," she instructed her kids, as they stared at her in confusion.

"Why, are we moving out," Rebecca inquired, tilting her head to one side in curiousity.

"To where?" Liam joined in, he was curious as well.

"Somewhere safer," Their mother replied, unsure on how to explain to them.

"But where else is safer than our home," Liam continued to questioned his mother who was already tired of it.

"Can you please just stop asking questions and do as I say," Brenda snapped, and the kids hurry to do what she instructed them to do, she also packed up her belonging and few of her husband's, so she can keep as a reminder.

When she was done she waited for her kids who later came out with their belonging.

"You're sure you've picked everything?" She inquired curiously.

"Yes," "Me as well,"

"Good, we can go now," she grabbed her box and open the door then stop when she sense their hesitance.

"Does Daddy knows about this," Rebecca inquired as Liam nodded his head like his sister has spoken what was on his mind.

Brenda didn't know what answer she should give, "Should I just tell them that their Father is dead..., but how are they going to take the news they are still too young to know such pain," she thought to herself.

"Look.., I'm sure your father would want what's best for us, right now.., moving out is what's best for us and am sure he will approve of it," she tried to explain to her kids, hoping that they'll understand.

"Is Daddy gone, are we ever going to see him again?" His mother's long silence made tears to drop from his eyes, he understood that it meant he was not going to see his father again, Brenda knowing how smart her kids could be, leaned forward to give them a hug.

"It's okay, it's going to be alright okay!!" She consoled them, patting them gently on the back.

After a while she heaved out a huge sigh, wiping their tears off and then got up, "We better hurry before those blood suckers get to us," this time, her children obediently followed her without any question.

"Wait, let go check on the Luna," she told them and they changed their route to the Alpha's chambers, she knew the Luna would possibly need some comforting if she have felt what she felt.

___

Catherine placed the sword into the fireplace that was filled with fire and after a long time brought it out, she removed a part of the baby's cloth to reveal the moon mark that was on the baby's shoulder, and then heaved a heaved a huge sigh before placing a little part of the sword on the baby's moon mark which caused the baby to cry out in pain.

When she was sure the Moon mark was removed, she threw the sword to the other side before finding some oilment to put on the baby.

Just then Brenda walked in with her kids, her eyes went straight to the sword and then to the Luna in shock.

"What did you do," Brenda questioned in disbelief, she thought maybe the pain had made the Luna to go insane and would want to kill her daughter in anger,

"The baby is still crying so it's none of what you're thinking and I wouldn't do that to my baby," she told Brenda and continue putting the oilment on the baby, the baby's cry made Brenda relief and she went forward to see what her Luna was doing.

"I burned the Mark out,"

"It must be painful for the baby," Brenda lamented after seeing how red the baby is.

"It's for her own good, in the future, the vampires won't have to use it to identify her," she explained her reason, placing a bandage on the baby.

"Did you feel it," tears began to roll out from her eyes again, knowing what Brenda question meant, "It was more painful than a cut from a knife, I felt shattered and weak but I know I have to be strong for my baby," Catherine said and Brenda nodded her head in agreement.

"You're right we needed to be strong for our kids because they're all we have left and I'm sure that what they'll want us to do at this grace period.

"Let me help you pack up," Brenda said and quickly got up to pack the Luna things.

"It's, going to be okay," Liam said with a warm smile which made the Luna's mood to brighten.

"I know for sure it will," Luna Catherine said, laughing for the first time in a long while.
