Chapter 25
The sun had just risen when Rafael pulled himself from bed, from the enticing warmth of Julian. Unfortunately, he had work to do. And he had delayed for as long as he could.
Soon after, he was working in the pack library.
He entered.
He was surprised to see Maxinne and Elijah hunched over a big tome. They looked up at him.
"Aren't you supposed to be in bed?" Maxinne looked at him like he was being a stubborn child. "Aren't you supposed to be healing in bed, beside your mate?"
Elyah didn't say anything, but by the concern in his eyes, Rafael knew he felt the same way.
"I'm okay," Rafael replied. "I can barely feel any pain from my wounds. It's weird, but it is true."
Maxinne stared at him then let out a breath.
"The Ancient Unification, huh?" she said, looking back at her book.
"I don't know what gave Siluren enough confidence to do this," Rafael said. He had been thinking about it since yesterday.
