Chapter 29 - Chapter 31 – The Limit Break

Chapter 31 – The Limit Break

The dungeon convulsed with every roar of the crystalline colossi. Their cores blazed like dying stars, flaring brighter as their blows shattered the cavern ceiling. Shards rained down, dust choking every breath.

Raynar braced inside his kinetic dome, but fractures spread faster than he could mend them. Each impact rattled his bones. His gauntlets sparked, his lips split and bled. Still, he held — stubborn, unmoving.

"Raynar."

Redmond's voice sliced through the chaos. Calm, but sharp enough to cut steel. He stepped closer, Vermilion aura seething around him — a storm forced into a cage.

Raynar spat blood, eyes flicking to him. "What now? Another lecture? In case you didn't notice, we're two swings away from being paste!"

But Redmond didn't flinch. His gaze burned. "Look around you. These things don't stop. They don't tire. And we… we've been fighting with chains on. Rule by rule. Step by step."

The Vermilion light twisted inward, threads dragged toward the vortex forming in his chest. Space bent faintly around him. His voice rose with the tremors:

"This trial isn't here to measure restraint. It's here to see if Red'Lux heirs can bend reality itself when it tries to break us."

Raynar swore under his breath. "You're serious…"

"I was taught to hold back," Redmond pressed, fists trembling, crimson-black light bleeding from his eyes. "Precise. Controlled. But if restraint becomes weakness—" His aura snapped, lightning bursting outward. "Then what are we proving?!"

The cavern shook. Even the colossi staggered as if sensing the shift.

Raynar's dome buckled again. He ground his teeth, sweat streaming down his jaw. "You really do love speeches."

But then… he grinned. Wild, sharp.

"…Fine. This time, you're right."

The dome collapsed inward, sucked into his fists. Black kinetic waves crawled up his arms, coating him like liquid steel. Each breath detonated with a muffled whump, thunder trapped underwater.

Raynar flexed his hands, veins glowing as his Blutz channels drank the Rift's essence raw. His stance shifted, precise, unshakable.

"You bend the void. I'll weaponize every strike. Together—" He slammed his fists together, a thunderclap blasting the dust clear in a perfect circle. "—we don't endure. We dominate."

The colossi raised their arms again. Their cores pulsed. The cavern seemed to hold its breath.

And then the twins moved.

Council Chamber: The Unveiling

The Rift projection shook with every surge. Crimson spirals tore across the feed; kinetic detonations split the screen in jagged waves.

Gasps rippled through the council.

"They're rewriting Rift laws themselves…" one elder whispered, paling. "At their age—impossible."

"No…" Selene Veyra's eyes raced across her failing monitors. "Not impossible. They're forcing the Rift to recalibrate around them."

Kaelen Nox leaned forward, lips curling. "So the rumors were true."

At the throne, King Aldrich's face was stone. Silent. Watching.

Then—his chest rumbled. Low. Dangerous. A sound that built until it rolled like thunder through the chamber. And then, he laughed.

"Ha… hahahaha!" The sound shook the walls, deep and unrelenting.

Councilors flinched. Some horrified. Some stunned.

"They couldn't hold back, could they?" Aldrich's grin widened, eyes burning with pride. "Good. Heirs of Red'Lux were never meant to. Chains are for servants. Heirs exist to break them."

A hush swept the chamber.

Lord D'ark of the Nox Clan alone remained calm, arms folded. His voice slid through the silence, smooth and deliberate. "As expected. The second prince's restraint was not weakness. His conviction itself is a catalyst — and catalysts shape destiny."

Beside him, Magnus clenched his fists, veins glowing faintly in resonance with the projection. His jaw tightened. Even standing still… he changes me.

The chamber buzzed, murmurs rising again—

Until Aldrich's voice cleaved through.

"Elira. Remove the regulators."

The chamber erupted.

"Your Majesty, reckless—!"

"The dampeners are for his survival—!"

"Containment will collapse if—!"

"Enough."

The word cracked like a whip. The protests died instantly.

Aldrich's eyes never left the projection. His tone sharpened, final: "Do it."

Elira inclined her head, serene despite the storm. "Confirmed. Initiating release sequence."

Her hands flew over the interface. Across the Rift feed, faint signals flickered around Redmond's frame — invisible suppressors woven into his suit, layered regulators buried beneath his flesh.

One by one, they winked out.

The feed convulsed.

Redmond's Vermilion aura didn't expand. It collapsed inward, imploding into his core. Void bled into flame, flame into abyss. Space fractured. Light bent sideways. Reality itself reeled.

Councilors shielded their eyes. Some stumbled back.

Aldrich leaned back into his throne, laughter still faint in his chest, pride etched into every line of his face.

"This," he said, voice low and sharp, "is what it means to be my son."

Rift Trial

The twins stood at the cavern's center — Vermilion Void blazing, Kinetic Blutz pulsing like a second heartbeat.

The colossi screeched, cores destabilizing under the pressure of their unleashed power. The cavern quaked, ceiling splintering further.

And then—

The brothers charged.
