Chapter 35 - Defining Past

Elara's POV

"We could go for a walk," Velora says.

Her fingers gently caress my cheeks, wiping the last drop of wetness beneath my eyes. She's been doing this for most of the day, each time she notices my eyes threatening to release tears.

She's cleared my doubts about her having bad intentions toward me. I believe I can rely on her, but I can't bring myself to tell her about that group of rogue wolves. I'll heal faster and better if I don't.

The room is dark, but she hasn't left, giving me the warmth of a sane connection.

The feeling feels familiar, though the memory is vague—just snippets revealing themselves rarely. That group of rogues caused it.

"A walk will help," she says.

"A walk?"

I don't think my stay in this room is over, so I don't think a walk could be possible. But she should know all the possibilities, right?

"Outside this palace. No watchful eyes on us, just you and me so you can catch some fresh air. That would be great."
