"Phew… Finally, it's over."
Shuo exhaled deeply, still gripping his Zanpakutō. But as he glanced around at the scattered limbs and splattered blood painting the church grounds, a chill crept down his spine. He couldn't help but recall a certain infamous figure—Ace Ultraman, the so-called "Butcher of the Land of Light." The guy was legendary for hacking monsters to pieces, once saying, "Any creature will flinch, feel pain, or show weakness when attacked—but Ultra Beasts don't have those feelings!"
Wait a second—am I turning into him? Is this what I've become? Do I actually enjoy fighting like this?
Damn. Brutal. Way too brutal.
No, no, no. Gotta dial it back. I'm supposed to be the peace-loving type, right? If I keep this up, how am I ever going to make a good impression on the girls?
Just as Shuo resolved to "reform his ways," the system's voice cut through his thoughts.
"DXD: Multiverse Journey"Ding! Mission complete! Congratulations, Host has received four White Tier sign-in packages.
Ding! Mission complete! Congratulations, Host has received one Green Tier sign-in package.
Five packages? Not bad. Turns out each of those random Fallen Angels dropped a White package, Raynare gave a Green, and Freed's earlier reward made four Whites and one Green.
Well, they're low-tier rewards, but hey—even mosquito meat is still meat.
White package opened successfully… Congratulations, Host has received: [Peak Magic Power Advancement Card], [Grimoire], [One-Time Item: Time Chamber], [100 Million Yen].
The last reward was just cash—nothing to write home about. But the first three were a pleasant surprise, especially the Magic Power card. That solved his current energy shortage in one shot.
As for the Time Chamber, he already had plans. When the "Phoenix" arc rolled around, he'd use it to train up Rias and the others, prepping them for Riser Phoenix, the third son of the High-Class Devil family. And the grimoire? Heh… perfect for gifting. He already had someone in mind.
Things were looking up. Shuo's eyes gleamed with anticipation as he moved on to Raynare's Green package.
Green package opened successfully… Congratulations, Host has received: [Abyssal Demon Party Invitation].
"…What's this?" Shuo muttered, curiosity piqued.
Ding! This invitation is for a party hosted by Abyssal Demons. You may invite up to four people. Participants can challenge randomly appearing demons or their avatars. Defeat them, and you might win special rewards. (Note: No penalty for failure or death—no real-world danger.)
"Holy crap, it's a loot box party!" Shuo blurted, unable to contain his excitement. Random rewards meant a chance at treasures rivaling—or even surpassing—Longinus-class Sacred Gears. Jackpot!
"System, use the [Peak Magic Power Advancement Card]," he ordered mentally.
Ding! Magic Power Advancement Card used. Congratulations, Host's magic level is now at the peak of High-Class Devil.
A few seconds later, Shuo opened his eyes, feeling the surge of power humming through his veins.
"Heh… Not bad. Not bad at all."
He could sense the difference instantly. With this much magic, unless he went all out with his trump cards, he was easily the strongest below Satan-class.
Shuo stood before the church statue, Zanpakutō in hand, looking every bit the war god. Asia watched him in silence, awe and gratitude mingling in her gaze.
"Nangong-san! Are you okay?" Asia rushed over, concern etched on her face. The chaos of the night still lingered in her eyes.
Shuo smiled softly. "It's all over now. You're safe, Asia. From now on, stay by my side."
"I will! Thank you, Nangong-san!" Her smile was bright and unguarded—no trace of the lost, broken girl from before. To Asia, the man who'd saved her was her whole world now.
Midnight crept in as Shuo walked home, hand-in-hand with Asia. They chatted quietly, laughter echoing in the empty streets.
Suddenly, Shuo remembered something—the system mission for Asia was only half done. He still needed to make her his sworn sister. Given how much she depended on him now, it should be easy.
He glanced at her. "Asia, I have a favor to ask. Would you hear me out?"
Asia blinked, nodding. "Of course, Nangong-san. What do you need?"
Her trust was absolute—she'd do anything he asked.
Shuo took a breath, voice gentle. "Asia, I'd like to make you my little sister. That way, we can live together as family."
Asia's eyes went wide in surprise. But after a moment, her lips curled into a smile, teeth flashing as she replied with perfect politeness, "Yes, I understand, Nangong-san."
Shuo grinned, then feigned a pout. "Asia-chan, since you've agreed, shouldn't you call me something else?"
Asia froze, then, cheeks reddening, nodded shyly. "Th-then… Big Brother…"
"That's more like it. Let's go home."
Shuo arched an eyebrow, eyes twinkling. He still secretly hoped she'd call him "Onii-chan" someday—just thinking about it sent a shiver of delight down his spine. Plenty of time for that. Someday, his dream would come true.
As soon as Asia agreed to become his sister, the system chimed in.
Ding! Mission complete! Congratulations, Host has received Green Tier sign-in package: [Basic Bloodline Enhancement Card]. Use to slightly strengthen bloodline.
Bloodline enhancement? Not bad. Unexpected, but promising.
It wasn't much use for him right now, but maybe Rias, Akeno, or Koneko would benefit. Rias had her mother's Power of Destruction; Akeno inherited divine thunder from her father, Baraqiel, the "Thunder of God," plus Fallen Angel blood, though she resented him for personal reasons; and Koneko's true form was a nekomata—the strongest of Japan's cat demons—but she avoided her powers due to her sister's troubles.
For now, those three seemed the best candidates. He'd figure out who to give it to later.
Today really was a lucky day. Not only had he raked in rewards, he'd gained something even more precious—a "sworn sister" named Asia. In every sense of the word.
