"Shua."
On the mountaintop of the Afterlife, a blue light curtain flashed, and the eyeless Gordon appeared with Raina.
"Welcome to the Afterlife, beautiful Miss Raina," Gordon said with a gentlemanly gesture and a sincere smile.
"Yes… this place will be my Afterlife," Raina replied, her eyes filled with obsession as she admired the scenery—the glowing sunset, vibrant flowers, dim grass beneath her feet, and a calming breeze that carried a sense of peace and distance.
For the first time in years, Raina felt truly at peace.
"Miss Raina's words just now…"
Gordon frowned slightly, but before he could question her, the residents of the Afterlife had already surrounded them.
Most were ordinary people waiting to undergo Terrigenesis, while only a small number were Awakened Inhumans.
At the front stood Jiaying, leader of the Afterlife, accompanied by her butler, Mr. Chen. Jiaying always took great interest in naturally Awakened Inhumans.
"Lena, allow me to introduce you—"
Gordon smiled when he saw Jiaying and stepped forward, intending to present Raina.
But Raina spoke first.
"Jiaying, leader of the Afterlife, possesses the ability to drain the life force of others.
Lincoln Campbell—he can manipulate electricity.
Alyssa—she can duplicate herself, and each copy has its own consciousness.
Leo Sean—he can fly…"
One by one, Raina listed their powers. Shock spread across the gathering. Some were surprised, some excited—but Jiaying's expression darkened with murderous intent.
"Well, sweetheart, is that your ability? To so easily see through ours?" Lincoln said, impressed, his eyes shining with admiration.
His words earned nods from several Inhumans. After all, Gordon would only bring back someone who was truly one of them. Raina's performance was beyond remarkable.
"Whether she's truly one of us remains to be seen."
Jiaying's eyes gleamed coldly, the cracks on her face seeming deeper as she spoke indifferently.
"Jiaying is right. Raina needs further testing," Mr. Chen added, loyal as always. He had followed Jiaying for most of his life and understood both her abilities and her ultimate ambitions.
Whispers rippled through the crowd. Jiaying's prestige was unquestionable—if she cast doubt, the others followed.
Raina, however, only grew more excited. A buzzing sound echoed in her ears, and her eyes lit up as she stared directly at Jiaying.
"It seems Mr. Allens' prediction was correct. One hundred percent correct."
The words froze everyone.
"Mr. Allens? Sweetheart, you're not alone, are you?" Lincoln frowned, clearly confused. But Gordon and Jiaying's faces went pale.
"Boom!"
Before they could speak, three Quinjets suddenly materialized in the skies above the Afterlife.
"You traitorous bitch!" Jiaying roared, instantly realizing Raina was a spy. Enraged, she stormed toward Raina, intent on draining her life force.
"Fire."
Inside the central Quinjet, Allens' cold eyes narrowed. Watching the live feed on the screen, he gave the merciless order.
"Whoosh, whoosh."
Missiles launched instantly.
"Boom, boom, boom!"
Explosions ripped through the mountaintop, collapsing buildings and scattering terrified civilians. The peaceful paradise of the Afterlife was engulfed in flames and chaos.
"Damn it! Gordon, get the tribe out of here!" Jiaying shouted. Ash and dust covered her face, but her first thought was still to protect her people.
"I won't let you lambs escape," Allens sneered. With a wave of his hand, four massive metal plates dropped from the Quinjet, embedding themselves at the edges of the battlefield. Strange energy pulsed between them, forming a shimmering square barrier.
"Shua!"
Gordon tried to teleport an Inhuman to safety—but to his horror, they only reappeared three meters away.
"What…? Why is my ability being restricted?!" His face turned pale. For the first time in decades, Gordon felt fear.
"Move in!"
HYDRA soldiers slid down ropes from the Quinjets, forming tactical formations as they surrounded Jiaying and the others.
"Bang, bang, bang!"
Bullets tore into panicked Inhumans. Jiaying's eyes burned with fury.
"Lincoln! Alyssa!" she commanded.
Lincoln was the first to act. Electricity crackled violently between his hands before arcing outward. A dozen HYDRA soldiers convulsed as the current burned them black.
"Uhhhhh!"
Beside him, Alyssa twisted, splitting into five duplicates that charged into the soldiers.
"Microwave burst!"
Young Lori Talorin raised her hands, unleashing waves of microwaves that melted two HYDRA soldiers alive. Their screams echoed through the battlefield.
"Good… very good. What fascinating abilities," Allens muttered with a cold smile, watching the chaos unfold.
"Jiaying, there are too many! We can't hold them back much longer!" Gordon teleported beside her, narrowly dodging gunfire.
"We will not fall! Let these humans taste the true power of the Inhumans!" Jiaying snarled.
She pulled ten glowing Terrigen crystals from her pocket and shoved them into Gordon's hands. Without hesitation, he teleported away.
"Click, click, crack!"
Where HYDRA soldiers clustered, Gordon shattered the crystals. Terrigen Mist erupted, rolling across the battlefield like a living storm, swallowing HYDRA soldiers and Inhumans alike.
