Inside the Skrull spaceship, an Ultron robot stood behind the Skrulls. Its weapons were active, aimed directly at them, ensuring the Skrulls dared not act rashly.
These Skrulls had once been a high-level race in the universe. During the war with the Kree, many had been slaughtered, and the survivors scattered across the cosmos. The Skrulls on Earth were just one branch.
Even as a branch, their abilities were formidable. Their racial ability—shapeshifting—allowed them to perfectly mimic any creature's DNA, replicating both inside and out. In other words, Skrulls could transform into any being they had seen, retaining short-term memories of that creature.
Chi la, chi la.
Under the horrified gaze of the Skrulls, Allens sliced open Lambert's skull, crouching to observe his brain, vastly different from a human's. His ability to perceive the inner workings of everything allowed him to study the Skrull shapeshifting ability in detail.
"Found it—the Skrulls' shapeshifting ability."
Allens tapped his right index finger on Lambert's central brain, then stood and calmly wiped his hands with a tissue handed by Ultron.
"Imprison all these Skrulls."
A wave of his hand sent the order to Ultron, while he led Scarlet Witch Wanda to a room made of titanium alloy.
"Wanda, sweetheart, no one enters this room without my permission."
Allens' tone was serious, and Wanda blushed at being called "sweetheart," fully embodying her Scarlet Witch persona.
Nodding, Allens transformed the room into an illusion of deep outer space.
Allens' goal in obtaining the Skrulls' shapeshifting was to temporarily acquire the short-term memory of the target being mimicked.
This had been his plan for some time.
When Allens learned that Thanos had entered the main universe in 2023, he knew the universe was beginning to collapse. He had also observed the Sorcerer Supreme, the Ancient One, and realized she did not possess the Time Stone.
This meant that eventually Dormammu, Lord of the Dark Dimension, would descend. Not even the Ancient One could fully prevent it. The universe was destined to be dragged into the Dark Dimension and face destruction.
Allens needed to leave this timeline before Dormammu arrived, but the quantum shuttle battle suit lacked sufficient energy for time travel. Special tactics were necessary.
"Shapeshifting."
Allens' body grew taller, reaching 1.9 meters, and then over 3 meters. His physique became massive—taller than the Hulk, purple-skinned, with a giant, lined chin. It was the Thanos he had seen on Morag.
However, this version of Thanos, though muscular and intimidating, lacked the true power of the Eternals. That did not matter. What Allens truly sought was Thanos' short-term memory.
"Is this… Thanos' memory sync?"
Transforming into Thanos, Allens was amazed. Unlike the Skrulls' shallow short-term memory, he now synchronized with Thanos' full past experiences.
In 2023, Thanos had appeared at the Avengers' compound, bringing the Dark Order with him, triggering an inevitable battle. The Avengers had gathered—Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Ant-Man, Spider-Man, Scarlet Witch, Valkyrie, Black Panther with Wakandan forces, Asgardian warriors, Doctor Strange, and Captain Marvel.
Thanos frowned, holding the Double-Edged Sword of Judgment in his right hand. He sensed the memory synchronization and realized the familiar figure from Earth was Allens.
Boom.
Thor, wielding Stormbreaker, was surrounded by lightning, striking directly at Thanos' head.
Boom.
Thanos blocked the strike with the back of the Dark Judgment, lifting Thor with his left hand while simultaneously deflecting two incoming missiles. Iron Man's face turned grim, realizing Thanos seemed to anticipate every move.
"This battle is lost," Iron Man muttered.
"No. I have already won. These Avengers think they can manipulate time, but it is time that manipulates them," Thanos said, his voice calm yet ominous.
"Hey, purple potato head, talking to yourself?" Tony Stark barked, his nano armor giving him confidence. His hands transformed into massive hammers and slammed at Thanos.
Peng, peng.
Thanos caught the hammers effortlessly, straightening Tony's arms with a cruel smile.
"They think defeating me will change their fate. But the future me has already seen it all."
Thanos casually threw Iron Man aside, seized the Dark Judgment again, and with his left hand caught Captain America's Vibranium shield and Thor's Stormbreaker simultaneously.
Peng, peng, peng.
Thanos' sheer strength allowed him to face the Avengers' combined attacks alone, delivering a crushing lesson.
"I—my destiny—the future me—have completed my mission. Now I simply vent the anger imprisoned across endless timelines."
The Avengers were stunned. Thanos had come not to conquer, but to release his anger upon them.
Synchronizing with Thanos' memories, Allens observed him with a mix of admiration and calculation. Thanos, the man of destiny, would have retired had the Avengers not disrupted the timeline.
"Do you think you've manipulated time? You're nothing but weak time manipulators. Strange, magician, tell me—has your future changed? You're creating a world stronger than mine. And I've seen him… he's watching this fight right now."
