Chapter 26 - Fighting to the death

With a snap, the plague god bit the shield, and groaned as he leapt away. Two white marks appeared on the hard part of the silver shield, while I lost 70 health points due to the impact force.

The giant turtle, because it shared the experience I gained in the battle, has now reached level 5. After being armored, it increased my HP by 150 and the defense of the shield by 30.

Feeling the connection between the giant turtle and me on the shield, the little turtle seemed to be blaming me for not summoning it earlier. There was no time for communication, and Fangyao had rushed to the spot where the tiger king and his companions died. I bent down and quickly picked up the golden-level long sword and several red and blue potions on the ground.

The wind sound behind me returned. I turned sideways and raised the shield, my right hand already equipped with the golden-level long sword. At the moment the plague god hit my shield, the golden sword slashed at him.

The system message: "Your level is not enough to unleash the power of the golden artifact."

The golden sword slashed at the back of the plague god's body, but he didn't lose any health. I fainted. It turns out that golden artifact equipment can only be used at level 30. While I was stunned, I had already been knocked off my horse by the huge impact force.

The plague god lunged at me again. I heard a long cry, and Fangyao stood in front of me, absorbing the blow for me. I clearly felt that Fangyao had lost at least half of her health!

I can't let Fangyao die! I quickly retrieved it from the pet space and couldn't summon it again within three hours.

Putting the golden sword in my hand, I replaced it with the silver one. With just this simple action, the plague god had already rushed to my side, raising the shield to block, and I was knocked away again.

With great effort, I got up. My whole body felt as if it was about to fall apart. I was continuously hit by heavy blows, and I really couldn't hold on anymore. However, I had to hold on! Not only had I to hold on, but I also had to win, not lose!

The pain sensations from various parts of my body gathered and repeatedly stimulated my brain. A kind of madness that had been accumulated deep inside seemed about to erupt. I let out a wild roar: "Kill!"

It seemed that a powerful force instantly filled my body. I felt my blood boiling, and my whole body burst into flames. The plague god seemed to sense my change and stepped back a step, his eyes flashing with surprise and doubt.

The system message: "You have entered the 'Burning' state. Your burst power is currently 5, so your strength increases by 100%, your constitution increases by 50%, your agility increases by 50%, and the state lasts for 50 seconds..." Great! Without hesitation, I swallowed two blood pills and rushed towards the Plague God.

Under the effect of the "Acceleration Technique", in the "Bloodlust" state, I was only a little slower than the Plague God. With my combat skills, I could avoid most of his frontal attacks, and my sword almost hit his vital parts, each strike cutting off him over 100 points of health!

"40 seconds... 30 seconds... 20 seconds... 10 seconds..."

The bloodlust was about to disappear. I quickly hid behind a pillar, and heard a prompt in my ear: "The 'Bloodlust' state has expired. You have entered the 'Weakness' state. Your power has dropped to 50% of the original, your constitution to 75%, and your agility to 75%. You cannot recover to normal within three hours."

I almost spat out a mouthful of blood. Just allowing me to be in high spirits for 50 seconds, cutting off the Plague God over 2,000 points of health, would make me wait to die in the following time! Just now, I thought the game console really had "opened its eyes", but if I knew this, I would rather not have this "Bloodlust" state!

The Plague God charged at me. Instinctively, I moved my feet, but the thought in my mind lagged by half a beat, and I was bitten in the chest. My health dropped rapidly.

I slashed my back with a reverse sword strike, this time, only cutting off 6 points of health!

The Plague God also noticed that I had weakened. This time, he didn't let go, but instead increased the force on his teeth, and I clearly felt that the rat's teeth had bitten through the wolf king's leather armor and pierced into my body!

With a bang, I was forcefully tossed by the Plague God, and my back collided heavily with a large pillar. The intense pain like a wave overwhelmed me, and a word flashed through my mind: "Death 1"

With the last bit of consciousness, I used my final move - "Meow!"

Just like ordinary rats, cats are the hidden fear in the heart of the Plague God. The Plague God almost let go as if shocked, and ran as far as he could.

I landed on the ground, my consciousness gradually returning to my body. My health was almost depleted. I slowly took in the blood pills and used the healing spell, slightly opening my eyes and looking at the trembling Plague God in the distance, unable to help but smile wryly: "If I had known it would be so effective, I wouldn't have used it now."

However, just a mimic cat cry couldn't possibly subdue this highly intelligent creature. The Plague God quickly recovered. Anger appeared in his eyes, quickly turning into a cruel grin. Yes, I clearly saw him smiling!

This strange smile remained on his face. It seemed that I received a message from the Plague God: "You dared to mock me, then, watch as this god howls at you to torment you!"

The Plague God no longer charged, but ran towards me at a fast pace. It seemed that he wanted me to experience the deepening fear. The Plague God clearly noticed that I was in the "Weakness" state. In his eyes, I was no different from a dead thing.

If you want to humiliate me, I will make you pay the price! With the bitter and angry determination, I launched the final battle.

However, now the gap in strength between us couldn't be narrowed by willpower alone.

The Plague God easily bit and threw me out again and again, each time biting off over 150 points of health, and then falling and losing another several points. The blood and blue mana I just picked up were quickly depleted, but I still didn't give up. Whether I could win was one thing, but whether I did my best was another.

When it came to one-on-one combat, I wouldn't retreat. This was the resolute and heroic words often used by ancient generals, and every time I heard it on TV, I couldn't help but feel a surge of emotion. Today, I finally experienced the tragic and heroic aspect of it!

If at this moment, a teleportation portal appeared in front of me, allowing me to be sent to a safe place, I still wouldn't leave, just for the breath in my chest!

The silver sword had already been dropped, and facing the evil sneer of the Plague God, I waited quietly, waiting for the final blow to come. The mythical turtle on the silver shield sensed my will and actually caused my arm to lift, raising the shield to my chest. At this moment, I clearly felt that the mythical turtle and my life were intertwined.

The Plague God probably knew that my medicine had run out. He suddenly stopped and looked at me with a mocking expression, as if admiring his prey.

Perhaps, he wanted to imitate the "cat catching mouse" game. Mice have been played with by cats for thousands of years, which is quite sad. Today, encountering this desperate guy who doesn't care about his life, he naturally wanted to take me as his target to "get revenge"!

Being so humiliated by a mouse, but in my heart, I was surprisingly calm.

As long as I wasn't dead, I still had a chance. Although the Plague God still had over ten thousand health points, I only had 50. But in my eyes, the chance of victory or defeat was always fifty percent.

Persisting doesn't necessarily lead to success, but giving up will definitely lead to failure. I firmly believe this.

Who has ever seen a smiling mouse? That really is a terrifying face. Perhaps many years later, I will never forget this face, especially when that strange smile froze on the mouse's face...

The pale purple light enveloped the Plague God. This light was somewhat familiar, somewhat like the spiritual magic of the Bull Head God, but different. Finally, I remembered, this was the light of "Domesticating Animals"!

Behind the Plague God, a hunched figure slowly stood up. I looked closely and it was the old chief. He hadn't died!

Being able to immobilize a highly intelligent boss was at least an expert-level domesticating animal technique! He truly deserved to be the chief of the Kazha tribe. However, I didn't know how long his spirit could sustain this spell?

The old chief spoke in a hoarse voice with only one word: "Kill." Then he closed his mouth and focused all his spirit on the Plague God, no longer looking at me.

The entire body of the old chief emitted a light that I had never seen before. It wasn't like the light of a treasure, nor was it natural light. It was like a flame. The old chief's body, face, and voice were obviously much older than before. But for a moment, I didn't connect all of this. I only knew that the thing to do now was: "Kill the Plague God!"

I didn't pick up the silver sword, didn't take out my most proficient bow and arrow. I slowly took out the new weapon I had received - the blood suction tube.

I walked slowly behind the Plague God and slowly inserted the blood suction tube into the motionless Plague God's nape.

A monster under the control of domesticating animal techniques would wake up as long as it was attacked. The more intense the attack, the greater the chance of waking up. Therefore, I chose this insignificant weapon.

I felt the Plague God's blood flowing slowly through the blood suction tube and turning into a stream of warmth at my palm. It was sucked into my body to replenish my depleted HP.

I stared fixedly at the back of the Plague God's head. At this moment, the time in the entire hall seemed to have frozen. Not even the breathing sound could be heard...

My hands and body were like a sculpture, stable. This might be the result of my twenty years of training in the dark space. If my hands trembled slightly, the possibility of the Plague God waking up would increase a lot. Just for a second, perhaps only a second, the battle situation would be completely reversed.

I didn't hear the breathing and heartbeat of the old chief in my ears. I never expected that the old chief also had such a stable will. But I could feel that the faint light emitted by his body was still beating continuously, like it was burning.

Time passed slowly. When the Plague God suddenly fell forward in front of me, my entire body had already stiffened. My heart couldn't think for a long time...

The system's prompt came from my ears. I stared blankly at myself: "Is the victory really achieved? Is it really won? Is it really won...?"

The sound of my body falling woke me up. The old chief fell backward, face up.
