Chapter 45
Revenge
Anyone who enters the First Division of the Earth Realm and succeeds in creating their spiritual sea can create only one thing; that is the limit of power granted by this world. No one can create many things in their spiritual sea, for heaven and earth would never allow such a thing—it is considered one of the greatest taboos of the divided martial worlds.
But Einver was not content with merely creating his own land. He transcended all limits: he created the sun and the moon, he formed the sky and the void, and now—by merging the laws, the Law of Light and the Law of Darkness—he had managed to create an entirely new planet.
Whether in his previous world or in this one, the laws had existed since ancient times. In his former world, the laws were something forgotten and abandoned, for many reasons—chief among them that humanity had evolved by relying on intelligence and survival skills rather than on physical power or the laws of the world. Thus, the world's power was forsaken, and humans placed their trust in military strength and bodily might.
Here, however, humanity evolved in complete reliance on the laws of the world. The Laws of Light and Darkness were merely two among many fundamental laws. Yet there was no real difference between studying the laws of his previous world and the ones of this one. Therefore, when Einver crossed over, both mind and body carried with them a deep understanding of many laws. Still, he had to test each law's power to fully wield it.
Now Einver had tested the Law of Light, the magical force of this world. He had also tested the Law of Darkness when his fury was unleashed against Sin Ka. Thus, his understanding of both had deepened.
For a brief moment he thought, and then a spark lit within his mind:
What if I merged more than one law together?
That was his only thought as he acted, merging the Law of Light with the Law of Darkness. He balanced the two forces within him, and then created a new land within himself—a complete planet.
Einver looked calmly at the five planets revolving around him. He closed his eyes, raised his index finger, and with a single thought rearranged them anew: the Earth, the sun, the moon, the sphere of darkness—immense enough to be a planet in its own right—and the newly born world. Once he had done so, the planets moved again with harmony and beauty. With another fleeting thought, Einver opened his eyes, and in his spiritual sea he beheld his own Earth Realm planet as it came into being.
Alright, I understand now.
Einver smiled quietly, for he had grasped the truth. That dark sphere was none other than the darkness he had nourished since childhood—growing with him, carried into this world alongside him. It had lain dormant, but once Einver had released it before, it awakened within him. Because he continued to feed it, the light had become his spiritual sea, while the darkness had taken form as that massive planet—equal in size and destructive might.
Now that I know what this sphere of darkness is, there's still something turning in my mind. Old Moon Fai once told me that there are forbidden forms of the spiritual sea, but he never said what they were. He also admitted he wasn't sure. Perhaps yes, perhaps no. He did say, however, that it was possible to draw people, beasts, or anything weaker than me into my spiritual world. But now that I've created an entire planet within myself, and ascended from the First Division of the Earth Realm to the Higher Division, my planet has evolved further and further. Does this mean that in the future beasts and humans will arise naturally within it? Or must I intervene in the act of creation? Or perhaps I should do nothing at all? Truly, it's puzzling. Well then… I'll ask old Mai Na and the princess. Perhaps they know more of these taboos.
Einver opened his eyes gently in his room. He looked around; Mai Ko was still seated by the window, night having long since fallen.
Einver rose to drink some water. The cup was beside his bed. He moved toward it and poured—
In that instant, he felt a murderous intent, sharp and blood-soaked, drawing near the window—aimed at Mai Ko.
The cup slipped from his hand as he rushed toward her, but before he could reach, a figure appeared before Mai Ko. With a light strike to her neck, she collapsed unconscious. The shadow seized her and fled swiftly, leaving behind only a note upon the window.
Einver reached it, but too late—the shadow was gone, and so was Mai Ko. His anxious gaze fell downward, where he found a small black note written in blood:
• If you want to see her alive again, come to this place alone •
The note gave a location: the old tavern of Mai Na. On the back was another warning:
• Come alone, and hurry—or the girl dies •
Einver tore the note to shreds, seized his sword, and leapt from the window in a storm of fury and dread.
He dashed through the buildings with terrifying speed. After nearly fifteen minutes, he reached the decrepit tavern—old Mai Na's place.
Breathing heavily, Einver entered. Darkness hung heavy; a deathly silence reigned.
Before he could move, a voice thundered: "Don't move!"
Einver turned toward the source. A lantern flared faintly, casting dim light over the room. The first thing he saw was Mai Ko, bound by glowing chains—magical chains—still unconscious.
Then appeared a man clothed in black from head to toe. Only his eyes showed—eyes burning with rage and vengeance.
Einver's gaze sharpened in shock: "You… I killed you! How are you alive?"
The fury in Mo Bi grew fiercer with those simple words.
"I am the brother of the man you murdered, you wretch. I am here to avenge him!"
Einver, though seething inside, replied with quiet composure: "To avenge your brother? You wish to torture me, to kill me? I care for none of that—only release her. She has nothing to do with your brother's death. It was I who killed him. I am here now. Let her go. If you want to fight, I will fight you as you wish."
A smirk curled beneath Mo Bi's black mask, his voice dripping arrogance: "Do you take me for a fool? I saw how you killed Sin Ka. I saw your true strength. If I release her, I'll die instantly. Yes, I trust my speed, but let's face the truth—I am a spy, an assassin, a traitor. Not a warrior like you. This girl is my chance to kill you, to break you, you bastard. Now then… why don't you blind your left eye?"
"What?" Einver froze at the demand.
Mo Bi's voice swelled with arrogance, as though he ruled the world: "Gouge out your left eye now. Do you think I'm joking? If you don't, she dies here and now. And don't you dare think of activating your trait."
Einver pondered grimly:
I'm stronger than him in every way—except speed. His speed is on another level. If I use my trait, he'll slit Mai Ko's throat before I can reach him. I have no choice but…
He slowly raised his sword, but Mo Bi barked: "Do it with your hand, you wretch. I want you to suffer."
Rage boiled within Einver, nearly bursting:
Damn that princess whore. She had time to imprison me, to try to kill me, yet no time to face her cursed soldiers and men—she did nothing! Damn it!
And then, with chilling calm, Einver pressed his five fingers into his eye socket. Blood and fluid gushed onto his hand. Agonizing pain shot through his body, but he did not flinch. Enduring it all, he pulled his eye free and raised his bloodied hand before Mo Bi—his red eye resting in his palm.
Mo Bi howled with laughter, delighting in the sight. "Now… stab your feet."
Without a word, Einver lifted the sword and drove it through his right foot, then his left. Pain exploded, dropping him to the ground. Mo Bi stepped forward, striking him across the face and sending him sprawling. He snatched Einver's sword, laughing and weeping like a madman: "I will avenge you, brother! But first, I'll break him. I'll crush him utterly!"
Mo Bi loomed over Einver's bloodied body, pressing his hand to Einver's forehead: "Activate!"
From beneath his robes, his hand glowed with a dark blue light, energy pouring from his palm into Einver's body.
A warning flashed before Einver's bloody eye:
| Warning! Your body is being invaded by a potent, deadly poison |
Einver grasped the truth instantly: Poison!
As the venom coursed through him, Mo Bi continued forcing it into his body. Sitting atop him, he was dangerously close—but that closeness was Einver's golden chance. For once, Mo Bi had strayed far enough from Mai Ko. Now Einver could fight back.
At that moment, Einver summoned every shred of strength scattered through his broken frame. He focused all his power, gripped Mo Bi's hand with crushing force, and roared within:
Cancel trait!
At that sharp, focused command, Mo Bi's trait was disrupted before completion. His ability weakened drastically, his body thrown into temporary paralysis.
Then, in a flash, Einver cried in his mind:
Activate title: Mad Slayer!
Instantly, a dreadful dark aura erupted from him, blazing with a grim radiance. His blood-red eye burned like the depths of hell itself, reflecting an unquenchable wrath and a vengeance beyond human bounds.
| Because your opponent is an entire realm stronger, the title shall affect him—but the effect will be reduced. Mad Slayer will halt his movement for only 30 seconds |
The warning blazed before Einver.
Mo Bi stared in horror, frozen, unable to move—his body locked as though time itself had bound him.
Einver gathered every ounce of his strength, forcing himself upright despite his torn, bleeding body. His will was fiercer than pain. With trembling fingers, he pressed his index and middle finger to his wounded feet, striking three specific points in succession.
After the three strikes, the bleeding slowed, the pain began to fade, and confidence welled within him once more—confidence in his ability to protect those he cherished.
Carefully, he moved toward the unconscious Mai Ko, heart breaking with fear for her. He tried desperately to rouse her, but to no avail. She did not stir; her body was frail, her mind sealed away from the world.
In those tense moments, laughter rose from Mo Bi. A cruel, echoing laugh. Deeper and louder it grew, filling the dark tavern.
He laughed at Einver's anguish, at his despair—feeding on his suffering. Every ounce of Einver's fear or grief only strengthened Mo Bi's vengeance.
The laughter swelled, ricocheting through the tavern's decaying walls, piercing Einver's heart, striving to break him.
But deep within, Einver knew: this was the decisive moment. A moment where he must master his fury, his strength, and unleash everything he had—for Mai Ko's sake, whatever the cost.
