An Jian looked at herself in the mirror with the oversized T-Shirt and sweat pants, then thought, she shouldn't wear these clothes out, the detective didn't officially give her these clothes.
She changed back into her black amour, folded the t-shirt and sweat pants neatly and placed them on the folded sheets of the bed. She then tucked the key into her pocket and walked out heading to the police station remembering she never did get details about Li Zhao from the Detective
When she entered the station, people behind the counter seemed excited even whispering "Hey she's back" She walked up to a different lady who worked the day shift and asked "Can I see detective Cheng?" One of the men could be seen slapping another on the shoulder whispering "She is way more cute in real life"
The lady looked behind her staring coldly at the men then looked back at An Jian and said "Excuse me, let me check"
An Jian stood there and waited, the guys kept trying to sneak peaks at her, almost like they saw an idol but were to shy to ask for an autograph.
The lady then returned with Detective Cheng.
Detective Cheng gave a glare at the guys staring at An Jian.
An Jian then gave a warm smile and wave when she saw the detective "Morning Detective Cheng, I'm here to see if you have anything to report" trying not to give away that maybe they were closer than they now seemed as she was in a way now living at his place. The lady at the counter looked a little surprised, was the detective reporting to this cosplay girl?
Detective Cheng nodded, "Yes come into my office"
He guided her to his office. The men who were acting like they never seen a girl before, trying hard to catch glimpses of An Jian before she disappeared into Detective Cheng's office and the door closed.
Detective Cheng looked at An Jian seeing she was back into her armour asked "The T-Shirt and Sweat Pants, you didn't like them? Take whatever you need from my closet, you don't need to ask"
An Jian smiled, "It's no problem, I've been wearing this armour for the majority of my life"
Detective Cheng thought to himself, I guess that's true and tried not to dwell on it and then threw a file on the table. He opened the file to the gruesome picture of the dead man with a black palm print on his exploded body".
An Jian had come to understand this world had machines that could paint incredibly life like paintings in seconds. She picked up the picture and studied it closely. "This is definitely the work of Li Zhao".
Detective Cheng then continued to explain "this is a Green Dragon member from his tattoo here, I plan on questioning them at there base of operations today. They won't actually be friendly but they wouldn't dare hurt an officer either".
An Jian looked at him smiled "Then I'm coming along"
Detective Cheng looked at her thinking back to her exploding the coffee table and the videos his colleagues had showed him, it was clear she could protect herself "I guess it can't hurt"
As they left the station together, people started whispering "Are they actually leaving together? They almost look like a couple", "Nonsense, that guy rejected my sister, I'm not sure he even likes women"
Detective Cheng and An Jian drove to what was once known as the gate of the Green Dragon den. The gates were half open and some boys in there teens stood in line.
A man wearing a purple varsity jacket and black leather pants, appearing abnormally stylish was at the head of the line seeming to interview each boy in the line up before letting them through and rejecting one walking with a limp.
An Jian was suddenly reminded of the recruitment lineups in the army and she turned to Detective Cheng, "I think they are recruiting"
They both smiled at each other and both lined up, Detective Cheng in front of An Jian.
Detective Cheng was only in his early 20s as he had been promoted quickly to detective for being at the top of his class and working like he had absolutely no social life, he actually didn't seem out of place in the lineup.
As Detective Cheng got to the front of the line, the man looked at him and smiled, "Tell me why you want to join the Chum Li Gang?". Detective Cheng looked surprised for a split second then caught himself. "To earn a living and pay the medical bills to support my grandmother in the hospital, I will do whatever it takes", The man in the Varsity jacket impressed with the answer and Detective Cheng's athletic build, "Alright go in for your orientation"
Detective Cheng walked passed the gates slowly and observe what would happen to An Jian.
The man then looked at An Jian up and down, not really sure what to think of her black amour but slightly charmed by her beauty , "What are you doing here?"
An Jian smiled "I am here to join the Chum Li Gang sir!" almost in a military tone.
The man surprised "Do you know what we do here at the Chum Li Gang?, this is not a place for girls"
An Jian put on a serious face "I have fought in the army sir!, I can handle myself around men and have great martial arts skills sir!"
The man then asked "Why are you dressed like this"
An Jian kept her gaze straight as the man walked side to side "I come prepare for battle sir!"
The man looked at the quality of her armour and it did look protective, I guess that makes sense ".."
The man then laughed, not really believing An Jian but thought she was really cute and walked behind the gate for privacy and radioed his superior "Hey, a girl wants to join, should we let her in? Over"
"Copy, I don't think we accept girls. Over"
"She is like really cute and said she was in the army. Over"
"Copy, did you say she was really cute. Over"
"Yes, Over"
after a long pause
"Let her in and we will figure it out. Over"
"Copy"
The man came back excitedly. "Please go in there for your orientation" being extra friendly pointing to exactly where she should go that he didn't do for the other new recruits.
An Jian nodded, smile and walked to follow behind the detective, who had waited for her.
