Chapter 20 - That red gown

The morning sun shone directly through the window, casting a faint light into the room as I sniffed, almost jumping out of the bed when he spoke.

"Good morning, beautiful." A smile plastered his face.

For a moment my eyes roved around the entire room, bewildered. How did I end up waking with this stranger by my side?

"What...?" I started.

He placed his fingers on my lips to stop me, warmth spreading through my body like an electric jolt.

"Has anyone told you how beautiful you look when you sleep?" His lips curled into a fine smile as he held my gaze.

My lips parted, but no words came out, only muffled whimpers that lingered in my heart.

"Well, I will say I don't pray to miss that part," he grinned, handing me a bag I hadn't noticed he was holding.

"I thought to come check up on you and bring you this." He placed the bag in my arms. "Please don't refuse it," he insisted when he noticed I hesitated.
