"You must be joking…" Jayne said before walking away, Eva followed her
"I have a favor to ask… could I stay over at you place until after the prom?" Eva asked
"Sure"
They started walking to the nearest bus stop. "Will your parents be okay with that?" Jayne asked as they walked. "Who knows? I don't really think so though…" Eva shrugged. They got to the bus stop and took a bus to Jayne's house.
Eva looked at Jayne and then the mansion she brought her to. Eva stared at the large modern mansion before her; it was massive. Eva's mouth was opened in shocked and awe.
"Close your mouth and let go in" Jayne said, walking to the door. Eva quickly followed, they both stood at the entrance and the doors opened up on their own.
Eva was about to ask how when Jayne waved a controller with a slightly mischievous smile. The y entered the house and Eva looked around the mansion. "Whoa… It's even better on the inside. I mean… you own a whole freaking estate." Eva said, still staring. she was dazed, curious as what other wonders were behind each turn. Jayne couldn't help be giggle underneath her breath "Well, it's not exactly all mine."
"You and your family live here alone?" Eva asked with curious eyes as they proceeded to the elevator.
"Something like that… I and my family just use the top floor. Other family members stay on the other floors whenever they visit. Sometimes, we have this huge get together during some times of the year."
"Wow, that explains why it is so massive" Eva said.
"Yeah; mom loves to keep family close by" Jayne said has she opened a room door for her
The room was beautiful, had a warm and inviting aura, a book shelf, tea tables at the balcony, a walk-in wardrobe, a shoe rack twice the size of hers and a large king size bed that pulls the room together.
"This is your room for the night; do you like it?" Jayne asked
Eva looked at her "like it?" she went in and sat on the bed. "I love it, it is really beautiful, thank you"
"I am glad you do. Now, I will be right back; let me get you something to change into" Jayne said excusing herself.
Eva stood up and walked around the room for a while, the bookshelf on the wall was filled up with books. Eva picked up a book; an odd one. Others had smooth covers with dull colors, but this one was covered with something that looked like glass. It looked as though the book had been there for quite a while.
She opened it; a photo album. She saw a picture; it was Jayne when she was younger with her mom, dad and a boy who stood beside with his hand around her neck.
"That's her brother." Zeiran said behind her, Eva was so startled she jumped, nearly dropping the book. "What the hell Zeiran?!"
Zeiran burst into laughter, collapsing onto the bed. "You're the most amusing thing I've seen in almost a millennium."
Eva let out a deep breath, her heart still pounding. She turned to Zeiran with a stern look. "What are you doing here?... and what do you mean 'That's her brother'? she doesn't have a brother."
"Or so you thought." Zeiran said with a smirk.
Eva tried to recall and then Jayne entered the room with fresh, new clothes. Eva turned to where Zeiran was sitting on the bed, he was gone
Jayne dropped the clothes on the bed "You must be exhausted; try and get some rest. If you need anything, text me." she said with a playful wink before leaving.
"Jayne" Eva called out to her before she left the room, she turned back
"Do I have to meet your parents? at least to inform them that I'm here?" Eva suggested
"You would have… if they were here. So, relax, calm down and have some rest; we have a big day tomorrow." Jayne said before finally leaving.
"Does she know a demon is staying at her house?" Zeiran appeared again. This time, his voice was stern and blunt.
"What is that supposed to mean?" Eva raised her eyebrow.
"Well, that means your destructive power will continue to grow and if you don't learn to control your emotions and thoughts, you're gonna kill somebody." Zeiran said crossing his arms.
"Your powers don't care if you want to accept your demon side or not, it will still continue to grow . Fire that isn't controlled will burn even the one who lit it." Zeiran warns "Oh, and… the less people know about this, the worse it's going to be. Knowledge is both a blessing and a curse. Everything good, always has its evil side. Be careful… princess" He fades into the air.
Eva heart started to race at the thought of it all and it was getting overwhelming. She decided take her mind of it and went to her bag where the dress she bought. She hung it beside the mirror and stared at it, admiring it.
She didn't know what was bothered her more; Zeiran's warning or the fact that she was a demon to begin with. Her life was taking turns even she couldn't keep up with.
She sighed in resignation, giving up on trying to make sense of it all… at least for now. She slipped out of her clothes and slid into the bath; letting the warm water wash away her worries. She stayed there a while before coming out to retire to bed. "What a day…"
She was already halfway under the covers when she heard a knock on the door. "It's open…". Jayne walked in, holding a bottle of water and a glass. She placed it on the bed's side table and then sat down on the bed "I felt you had questions you wanted to ask me.". She said with and almost straight face.
Eva sat still for a moment, silent, as if thinking of what to say. "I saw a picture of you and your parents… there was a guy in it."
Jane's face fell slightly for a moment before flinging up with a smile; not to express joy but to hold back the hurt. "My brother… he was sent to the military school, and my parents rather just assume he isn't alive… It's a long story. I'll tell you tomorrow and answer your other questions." Jayne said, walking to the door "I have a few things to attend to; I forgot. Get some rest… Eva.".
Eva saw her eyes were filled with tears the refused to drop, but kept quiet. She got up and walked to the bathroom. She bent over the sink to wash her face. She took a towel to clean her face. she stared in the mirror and her face went pale. Her hair had turned white again and worse; it wasn't her reflection on the other side. "Hello, my daughter"
