Chapter 30 - Angering Dr. Banner

"Natasha, what's going on?"

Tao Wen looked at Natasha in surprise. He was a little puzzled why she wasn't looking for Banner and instead came to him.

Could it be that she'd encountered a problem and wanted to ask him for help? This was really strange. Natasha would actually ask him for help. Had the sun risen in the west?

"Dr. Banner, S.H.I.E.L.D. is really a good place. Here, you can continue your in-depth research without any interference and fully utilize your abilities to contribute to protecting the world and become a superhero in the eyes of the people."

Natasha said loudly to the white man. She didn't seem to notice Tao Wen, and her attitude was very sincere.

"Dr. Banner?"

Looking at Natasha, who had her back to him, Tao Wen instantly understood what was happening.

"This is truly a stroke of luck! Natasha, you've really given me a great gift this time."

Looking at the white man not far away, a different kind of light shimmered in Tao Wen's eyes.

"I told you before, I'm not interested in S.H.I.E.L.D., and I don't want to join them. I also don't want to be a superhero. Please leave and don't disturb my life!"

Banner frowned at Natasha, his eyes blazing with anger. A faint green tinge was already appearing on his forehead.

"Mr. Banner, don't get angry. I'm not forcing you. I'm just making a suggestion."

Natasha, who knew Banner's situation well, immediately put on a gentle smile and said softly.

"Then please leave. I'm going to have breakfast."

Banner said with a bad tone, but under Natasha's gentle voice, the green on his forehead had already disappeared.

"Okay, I'll go."

Natasha said helplessly. She could only retreat for now and come back to find Banner in the afternoon, no, at noon.

She didn't want Tao Wen to get ahead of her. She had to win this mission, suppress Tao Wen's arrogance - persuading men was her forte.

She couldn't fail again this time.

"And Betty? Have you thought about Betty?"

Just as Natasha was about to stand up, a voice suddenly called out.

"Damn it, what's he doing here!"

Natasha felt a twinge of unease when she saw Tao Wen, and she cursed inwardly. She realized Tao Wen was eating at this restaurant, which was incredibly inconvenient.

She had been planning to mislead Tao Wen, to prevent him from finding Banner too quickly, but now she'd shot herself in the foot.

"Betty? How do you know about Betty!"

Banner, already eating his curry, instantly became excited when he heard Betty's name. She was the woman he loved, the person he missed the most. He looked around, trying to find her, the figure he longed for day and night.

"Betty didn't come, but she asked me to give you a message. She wants you to be a man full of positive energy, to contribute something to the world. She's a good girl. We talked for a long time the night before last, until late at night."

Tao Wen finished the last bite of his curry and said to Banner. He deliberately glanced at Banner, a look of amusement on his face. He was intentionally trying to provoke Banner because he'd found that talking to Banner didn't trigger any fragments. Obviously, he needed Banner to transform into the Hulk before he could get any fragments.

"Then, please cherish her and let her live a happy life."

Banner sat weakly in his chair and said seriously to Tao Wen.

"Huh?"

Banner's reaction was very strange to Tao Wen. In his original scenario, Banner should have been furious and transformed into the Hulk to fight him. This scene was really a bit unexpected.

But on second thought, Betty was also like this. The two of them were indeed the same kind of person.

"You don't want to continue with Betty anymore?"

Tao Wen asked.

"Of course I do, but I can't. I can't control the Monster inside me. If I stay with Betty, I'll only hurt her."

Banner said, his voice filled with pain. Then, he strode out of the restaurant.

"He failed too!"

Natasha saw Banner leaving and the huge weight on her heart lifted immediately. The smile that had vanished reappeared, and she couldn't help but cheer inwardly.

As long as Tao Wen didn't succeed, she didn't care how long she had to stay here. Completing the mission was all that mattered.

"Wait."

Banner, after leaving the restaurant, began to head towards his lodgings, but hadn't taken two steps when Tao Wen called out to him.

"You can go. I don't want to be a superhero. I just want to live quietly here, as an ordinary person."

Banner said without turning around.

"And find a local girl and have a litter of mixed-race children?"

Tao Wen continued to provoke Banner.

"Maybe. But for now, please, leave me alone."

Banner said to Tao Wen, then turned and walked towards his lodgings, bag on his back. He needed to calm down, or the Monster inside him would reappear.

"You can't leave."

Tao Wen lightly leapt and landed in front of Banner, grabbing his hand.

"Come with me to S.H.I.E.L.D., you have no right to refuse."

With that, Tao Wen forcibly lifted Banner, like a little chick, and strode towards the edge of the town.

"What are you doing, let go of me!"

"You can't do this, if you keep going, it will appear, and then, it will kill you all!"

Green began to surface on Dr. Banner's head, and he shouted, trying to get Tao Wen to stop what he was doing.

"Why is he so violent?"

"Doesn't he know that Dr. Banner turns into the Hulk when he gets angry!"

Natasha frowned, a flicker of fear crossing her beautiful eyes. She had seen footage of Dr. Banner transforming into the Hulk. In those initial moments, the Hulk was devoid of reason, utterly terrifying, and devastatingly powerful.

"Let me go! It's coming!"

Tao Wen's grip on Banner, holding him with one hand, drew the attention of several Indians. Banner, as a doctor, was well-liked here. However, witnessing Tao Wen's formidable strength, they hesitated, following behind, waiting for more people to arrive before attempting to rescue Dr. Banner.

Banner kept shouting, trying to get Tao Wen to release him. The pain in his arm was making it difficult to control his anger. In a moment, the Hulk would emerge, something he couldn't allow.

He continued to yell, but Tao Wen didn't seem to care.

"I know what you're trying to do. You want the Hulk to come out, and then you want him to go with you. Forget it. First of all, I won't let the Hulk appear. Second, you can't control the enraged Hulk; you'll die, and you'll drag down more people with you!"

Banner shouted.

"Really?"

Tao Wen glanced coldly at Banner, leaned in, and lowered his voice, saying, "Let me tell you something. I don't like Betty. I just want to play with her."

After saying that, Tao Wen tossed Banner onto the grass not far away. He firmly believed that this "gift" would plunge Banner into endless rage, transforming him into the furious Hulk.

He could also get a good haul of shards from this. He was incredibly excited.
