Chapter 10 - New Feature Development

The originally solemn atmosphere gets interrupted by the book's endless chatter.

Ren's face is full of speechlessness: "I want you to closely monitor those internet users' communications. Once the number of official magicians increases, start guiding them to discuss surrounding regions—whether it's neighboring countries or neighboring lords—collect as much of this information as possible."

"You want to... start spreading Magic Net Rings to other regions?" Betty looks at Ren with some surprise: "Isn't that too fast?"

"We're not traditional missionaries, Magic Net Rings should obviously spread as widely as possible." Ren casually responds, then focuses his attention on the book again: "Oh, and when users reach 1,000, directly open the private chat function."

"Why not open it from the beginning? Why suddenly open it now?"

The doll Betty doesn't understand at all.

The private chat function was developed from the start.

But Ren told them to hide it.

Only the forum function was opened.

It's only been one day, and now he's saying to release it.

"Because there's a certain user base now." Ren says with a smile: "Before, the forum was all our fake accounts. Opening private chat then might have caused problems, but once the user volume goes up, they can communicate with each other."

"Plus, the private chat function will speed up our Magic Net promotion."

In this world where commoners and serfs almost never move around, nobles and supernatural beings have huge communication needs.

But often delivering a single message takes dozens of days, months, or even longer.

Even the king sitting in the capital, if he wants to send a command to the border, even dispatching griffin messengers takes over three days to arrive.

Spellcasters are scattered across different countries, making communication hell-level difficult.

For news about a magical material, crossing countless lords and kingdoms to deliver a message, running around for several years isn't uncommon.

The private chat function will greatly satisfy their needs, and quite a few of them will definitely actively take more Magic Net Rings and leave for distant places.

They won't even need to do it themselves—Magic Net Rings will spread at extremely fast speeds...

The farther apart users are, the more obvious the internet's value becomes.

"Lord Ren, your wisdom once again..."

Before the book can flatter him much, Ren quickly interrupts: "Book, let's talk business. I have a new idea here, let's study whether it can be implemented."

"This new feature, I think, is also groundbreaking!"

New feature?!

The book and doll instantly show interested expressions—at least the doll Betty does.

The discussion of new features doesn't go very smoothly.

The book and doll's understanding of the new terms from Ren's mouth is really limited.

But Heddy in the capital is going incredibly smoothly.

The reputation of the Goddess of Magic's chosen "Coffin-Carrying Heddy" spreads rapidly through the capital's magician circles.

Legend says her coffin is full of gifts from the Goddess of Magic.

Just pray to the divine gifts and you can get the purest knowledge in this world, you can see legendary big shots debating magical truths and worldly mysteries there...

Legend says this is the key to unlocking magicians' greatest secrets.

Even magicians who usually don't appear in the capital, who stay away from crowds, are all returning.

But very few people can actually get Magic Net Rings.

"Coffin-Carrying Heddy" is a capricious person, or perhaps she can see magicians' devotion to the Goddess of Magic...

She'll give Magic Net Rings to humble mage apprentices, and also to powerful high-level magicians. She'll give Magic Net Rings to beautiful people, and also to ugly people. She'll give Magic Net Rings to people recognized as the smartest, and also to incredibly stupid people... It seems like anyone might get close to her, yet anyone might be rejected by her.

There's no pattern at all.

But everyone knows one other thing—the Runic Society's senior researcher, mid-level magician Mr. Drew, seems to be really disliked by the Goddess of Magic. He's always one step behind.

Whenever they see him, it means "Coffin-Carrying Heddy" has already left, and they suggest not following or trying a different route to test their luck.

What they don't know is that "Coffin-Carrying Heddy" has already returned to the black forest in the eastern part of the capital.

"My god! I never knew you had talent in this area, actually completing the task God gave me in such a short time."

The old magician looks at his apprentice in amazement.

God knows how many times this apprentice has made him cry with her stupidity over the past dozen years.

A simple magic rune might take her several months to memorize.

A simple spell model might take her several years to complete.

A simple magic potion—she could even blow up his lab.

Although he was about the same back in the day.

But that's not a reason for him to think Heddy isn't "stupid."

But this time is really different!

Before Heddy even returned, he got divine revelation... Heddy actually completed the task in such a short time!

"Teacher, if you don't have other requirements..."

Just as Heddy wants to say she wants to rest, she sees her teacher, the old magician, quickly walk to the side and pull open a curtain that's appearing in the room for the first time.

!!!

Heddy's pupils dilate.

Her gaze is full of disbelief.

For a moment, she even thinks she should have put on smoky eye makeup when she came back—at least then her teacher might think she's already tired.

Ten times, at least ten times the number of Magic Net Rings from the first batch!

My god!

If she'd known there were so many rings to distribute, she should have set up a stall in Starlight Street's plaza and just given them away directly!

No, even if she gave them to everyone on Starlight Street, she probably couldn't finish distributing this many rings, right?

"Tea... teacher, do all of these need to be distributed too?"

The "Coffin-Carrying Heddy" who brought huge shock to the capital's magicians now only feels like her life has become incredibly dark.

She even starts stuttering.

"No, there are only 500 rings here... 499 need to be distributed, and one is yours. God said you didn't keep one for yourself—how can that be convenient for communication?"

The old magician shakes his head and says a number that makes Heddy feel like life might have hope again, but his next words leave her completely stunned.

"The rest are for selling. You need to open a shop in the capital and use the money from sales to buy refined iron and send it back."
