Chapter 47 - The Choice of Partner

Continental Hotel.

As Anton reached the entrance, he saw the familiar black man from the front desk directing the renovation crew, who were changing the Continental Hotel's decor.

Previously, when he, as Batman, had swept through the Continental Hotel, it was left in tatters. Many assassins were caught and thrown into the prison near New York, with only a few managing to escape judgment. The black man was one of the "survivors."

Upon seeing Anton, the black man immediately recalled the fear he had been subjected to not long ago. His expression shifted slightly as he respectfully said, "Mr. Anton, please come this way. Mr. Winston is in the office on the top floor of the hotel. I believe he will be very pleased to see you."

"Where is The Adjudicator?"

Anton said, tossing him the car keys. "Dispose of this car for me."

"The Adjudicator is in room 213. If you need, I can call her for you."

"Tell her to come to my office, to see Winston."

"Understood."

After a simple exchange, the black man took the key and watched Anton head upstairs without looking back.

Only after Anton disappeared from sight did he breathe a long sigh of relief, feeling the tension in his heart ease considerably.

Knowing Anton's identity, he didn't dare show him the slightest disrespect.

That night, the Batman, who seemed to have transformed into a demon from hell, had put immense pressure on him.

After going upstairs, Anton saw Winston, who had come to greet him.

Apparently, the black receptionist had informed Winston before Anton had even reached the upper floors.

"Mr. Anton, welcome back to the Continental Hotel."

Winston smiled and shook his hand, his demeanor this time less flustered than before.

Anton had reached a certain level of cooperation with the High Table, and Batman was no longer an enemy but a "friend."

The previous losses of the Continental Hotel were completely compensated for from the moment Sloan and the main members of the Brotherhood were arrested by the police.

Without Winston, there would have been no cooperation between the High Table and Batman.

To a certain extent, Winston had made a great contribution to the High Table's eradication of the Brotherhood.

"The Adjudicator will be here shortly," Winston said with a smile.

"Before that, I have a question."

Anton sat across from Winston, meeting his gaze. He spoke slowly, "What's your view on Hell's Kitchen?"

"Hell's Kitchen?"

Winston's eyes flickered. "They're a troublesome bunch of neighbors."

"Just neighbors?"

Anton crossed his legs, seeing through Winston's words. "Having such troublesome neighbors must be quite uncomfortable."

Winston narrowed his eyes. "What do you mean?"

"Don't play coy with me. You know exactly what I'm talking about, Winston. You probably know more about how I took Sloan and Bullseye from Kingpin to the police station than I do, the person involved."

Anton didn't bother wasting time with the old fox, speaking frankly. "I'm going after Kingpin. The Continental Hotel needs to cooperate with my actions."

After a pause, Aisha Kate looked at The Adjudicator, who had just pushed the door open, her expression cold, and added, "Including the High Table, you all have to cooperate with me."

At the same time.

Manhattan, Fisk Company.

An office.

Bang!

Someone was throwing things, appearing extremely angry.

It's worth mentioning that the one who was angry this time wasn't Kingpin, but Wesley, his capable subordinate who managed the company for him.

"He let him get away?"

Wesley was furious. The news he'd just received sent shivers down his spine. He was terrified of Kingpin finding out.

If Kingpin knew he'd screwed up, Wesley knew he'd be in serious trouble.

He knew full well that Batman had thoroughly offended his boss during their encounter that night.

"Not only did he get away, but all our guys are in the hospital! Two are completely paralyzed, and the rest will be out for at least a year. Is this how you work for me?"

Wesley wanted nothing more than to pull out a knife and gut the goon standing before him.

"Mr. Wesley, we underestimated him! Please, give us another chance!"

The goon was trembling.

Facing Wesley now, he looked as helpless as Wesley felt when confronting Kingpin.

"Then find more men and catch him! Find out who Batman is," Wesley demanded, his voice dripping with menace.

"Understood," the thug nodded quickly.

"And about Bullseye, how's the police station situation? Has the bail process been completed?" Wesley asked again.

"It's almost done," the thug replied. "Bullseye has no criminal record. Although many people know he's an assassin, there's no evidence, so the police can't convict him. He'll be released soon."

"Excellent."

Wesley breathed a sigh of relief; this was good news, at least.

He waved his hand, dismissing the thug. Sitting in the chair, he thought anxiously about how to deal with Kingpin's anger, since the matter hadn't been handled properly.

"The High Table agrees to cooperate with your actions."

Aisha didn't disappoint Anton, giving an affirmative answer and glancing at Winston. "We'll dispatch assassins when necessary, and the Continental Hotel will handle the intelligence."

"Pleasure doing business with you."

Anton's expression was calm; he'd anticipated this outcome.

Although he'd only just established a cooperative relationship with the High Table, they wouldn't pass up an opportunity to expand if they had ambitions for New York.

Hell's Kitchen!

That was a massive piece of cake.

If the High Table could successfully annex Hell's Kitchen, the Continental Hotel would become the new king of the New York underworld.

"There's one thing I must emphasize beforehand."

As he expected, Aisha said seriously, "Once Kingpin falls, his territory will belong to the High Table."

"I'm not interested in Hell's Kitchen."

Anton had no objections and waved his hand. "I'm only interested in putting Kingpin in prison."

"Prison?"

Aisha thought of Batman's principles and shrugged, unable to deny it.

In her opinion, Anton's principle of not killing wasn't exactly indecisive, but it was like going through unnecessary trouble.

Anton couldn't have failed to imagine what would happen to these people once they were in prison.

At the very least, the High Table had already begun taking action against Sloan, not giving the remaining Brotherhood remnants any chance.

Sloan will be "suddenly dead" in prison, at the latest, tomorrow.

"Speaking of Kingpin, I thought of someone."

Winston, seeing that the two had reached an agreement, suddenly spoke up again: "Night Devil, have you heard of him?"

"Night Devil?"

Aisha, who possessed a great deal of intelligence, wasn't unfamiliar with New York as The Adjudicator. She narrowed her eyes: "That lone wolf who only operates in Hell's Kitchen, and is at odds with Kingpin?"

"That's right."

Winston said, "If we want to deal with Kingpin, he'll be very happy to join us." He paused, and looked at Anton, "Especially if Batman extends the invitation."

"Leave it to me."

Anton nodded. "I'll find him and invite him to join."

Daredevil.

Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer, Kingpin's nemesis.

Anton recalled information about Daredevil.

He had to admit, Winston, the old fox, had given a good suggestion.
