Chapter 48 - Matt Murdock

After finishing his conversation with Aisha and Winston, Anton left the Continental Hotel and returned to the Daily Bugle.

"Anton, are you alright?"

Betty was waiting for Anton at the door, looking worried. She had already prepared to call the police if she didn't see Anton for an extended period.

Anton's expression had been strange when he got out of the car earlier.

Betty recalled afterwards that the black car that had been coming towards them and following their nanny van was definitely suspicious.

"Of course, I'm fine."

Anton waved his hand with a smile. "Betty, don't worry about me. You should worry about someone else." He paused. "Where's Eddie?"

"The office."

Betty gestured towards the room behind her.

Creak—

Anton pushed open the door and saw Eddie, who was flipping through some documents.

"Anton, you're back."

Eddie wasn't surprised to see Anton and smiled. "Today's newspapers sold well, exceeding expectations. I think you'll definitely double my bonus."

"I would, if the photos of Batman weren't taken because of my orders." Anton shrugged, then sat down in front of Eddie. "You should know that I caught a guy named Bullseye."

"Yes."

Eddie nodded. "As far as I know, this Bullseye has some serious backing."

Anton said, "He works for Kingpin."

"Kingpin? The king of Hell's Kitchen?" Eddie pondered for a moment. "To be honest, I don't know much about him, but when I worked as a journalist in New York, I came across a lot of people from Hell's Kitchen, and they all spoke about Kingpin with a lot of caution."

"Then you probably don't know that Kingpin's real name is Wilson Fisk," Anton said.

"The super-rich guy in real estate and energy?"

Eddie was truly surprised by this. "He's actually the underground emperor of New York, even the entire United States? That's really unexpected."

Anton crossed his arms. "You know, Batman arrested Bullseye, which offended Kingpin. So, our goal now is the Fisk Corporation. We need to gather evidence of Kingpin's crimes as soon as possible and send him to the prison that best suits him. That's what we're going to do next."

"Understood."

Eddie immediately said, "I'll start an investigation into Fisk Corporation right away. I'll let you know as soon as I have something."

"Good," Anton nodded in satisfaction.

After work, Anton and Eddie found a place to have a drink. They didn't part ways until late that night.

Eddie went to find his old contacts in New York, ready to launch an investigation into Kingpin's crimes.

Anton, on the other hand, headed towards his destination not far away.

Hell's Kitchen.

Though only eight small blocks, the evil here likely surpassed that of eight Satans.

Especially at night, Hell's Kitchen was a melting pot of all sorts of people.

It was a haven for scum.

Excluding the Rabbit Armor's actions last night, Anton was officially setting foot in this place filled with crime and gangs for the first time.

He looked around, as if he could smell the lingering scent of alcohol and weed in the air everywhere.

Of course, his goal wasn't to clean up this place, but to find someone.

The blind lawyer was very famous in Hell's Kitchen.

Many people knew this person.

A universally recognized good person.

As Anton pondered, he stood at the street corner, watching the flow of traffic, waiting for a long time.

Finally, a man wearing sunglasses, tapping a cane, walked from the intersection.

Tap, tap, tap, tap!

The blind man in sunglasses tapped his cane as he slowly moved forward. Anton followed behind him step by step, looking like a stalker. Except he wasn't stalking a woman, but a man!

It sounded even more perverted!

When the two of them turned into a dark, narrow, deserted alley, one after the other.

Whoosh! A gust of wind attacked Anton, who was entering the alley.

Anton sidestepped, avoiding the cane that swung over his head. He followed up with a step forward, forcing the blind man back, and his prepared fist came up from below, landing on the blind man's chest.

Thump, thump, thump!

The blind man couldn't help but stagger backward, a sharp pain in his chest.

Though he couldn't see, all his attention was focused on the enemy before him.

The blind man could sense the presence of a man, and a young one at that, but one with remarkable skill.

"Who are you? This doesn't concern you."

The blind man asked in a low voice.

He had lived in Hell's Kitchen since childhood and was certain he'd never met this person before. He even had a vague feeling that the enemy wasn't from Hell's Kitchen.

"Daredevil, a pleasure to meet you."

To his surprise, the young man before him had spoken his long-hidden identity.

Following that, the kid's next words plunged him into shock.

"I'm Batman. I remember the Batman novels also had a Braille edition. You can call me Bruce Wayne if you know the content."

Anton looked at the blind man in front of him, a smile of camaraderie appearing on his face.

The brief exchange just now had given him a rough idea of the blind man's combat ability.

In a way, Daredevil was somewhat similar to Bruce Wayne, a self-disciplined individual who had broken through the limits of the human body.

"Batman?"

The blind man was a little dazed; he hadn't expected to get this answer.

Batman.

The man who'd swept through the Continental Hotel right after his debut, even dealt with the Life Foundation in San Francisco, and caused Kingpin to lose face, was now standing before him so easily.

"How do I know you're not lying to me?"

The blind man could hear that Anton's heartbeat was normal, showing no signs of deception. However, his years as a lawyer had taught him that lying could be deliberately masked through preparation, so he dared not trust a stranger so easily.

Snap!

Anton snapped his fingers, and in a flash, armor materialized on his body. Then, he revealed a smile, "This kind of entrance, I don't think anyone can imitate, right?"

"Batman, it really is you."

The blind man was taken aback.

He had lost his sight as a child after coming into contact with radioactive material spilled from a truck, but this accident unexpectedly enhanced his other senses, giving him the superpower of "Super Senses." Furthermore, due to his father's death and childhood experiences, he had become a formidable warrior.

His Super Senses were incredibly powerful, primarily allowing him to form a radar-like conceptual map in his mind through sound waves, thereby capturing changes in the outside world.

That's precisely why he was extremely shocked by Anton's transformation. He murmured, his voice laced with suspicion, and asked, "How did you find me?"

Anton was direct, "There's only one blind lawyer in Hell's Kitchen, Matt Murdock. You weren't hard to find."

"It's not difficult to find me once you know my identity."

Matt was silent for a moment, then led the way, saying as he walked, "This isn't the place to talk. Come to my place, Batman."

"My pleasure."

The two of them walked into a house with an extremely simple decor, one after the other.

The house was very spacious, but it had everything needed. There was also a punching bag hanging in the center, as well as quite a bit of fitness equipment. It was clearly where Matt exercised.

In addition, Anton could see at a glance that the space of the house was not right. There should be a hidden room behind a certain wall, presumably where Matt kept his Daredevil equipment.

"Batman, I don't understand why you're approaching me?"

Matt poured Anton a glass of water like a normal person, his hand holding a cane as he sat across from Anton, his expression calm.

"You know, I made Kingpin suffer a big loss, and I sent Bullseye to the police station, so Kingpin will definitely retaliate against me. In fact, he's already taken action."

Anton spoke with a smile, unhurriedly, and directly invited, "Before things get worse, I've decided to strike first and send him to jail as well. What do you say, Matt, are you interested in joining our side?"
