Meanwhile, Sasha and Brian were on their way to leave Veilwood to Eirengale, and had not heard of what happened to Maria.
During the ride in the carriage, Sasha noticed that Brian was extremely quiet. He hadn't uttered one word throughout the entire period.
She slid her hand and kept it over his, rubbing it gently. But he simply slipped his hand away and folded it across his chest, making her feel quite hurt by his action.
After hours of driving, the carriage stopped at Eirengale. They alighted from the carriage. Sasha stretched her hand to hold Brian's own as they walked, but he avoided her and walked in another direction.
She felt stinging pain in her eyes as she wondered why he was giving her a cold shoulder. She followed behind him, with the guard pulling the boxes behind her.
At least, she could smile that she triumphed over her sister that she despised so much. She could remember how Maria walked inside when the parents gave their blessing to both of them.
Maria was called to their side and Laura asked her to forgive Sasha. Sasha had scoffed inwardly, telling herself that she did nothing wrong and she wasn't at fault.
She enjoyed the look of sadness on her face. Getting married to Brian instead, made her feel ten times better than when she bullied Maria in front of the entire class during training.
Sasha also knew exactly what she was doing the moment that she advised Maria to run away. Her ultimate plan was for Maria to get lost, while she would have Brian all to herself.
She was fully aware that Maria didn't have any special abilities that were going to help her survive through the night. She had also tipped the driver to take Maria to a dangerous place. Although, after that, the driver didn't bring back news of what happened, and she was extremely furious of seeing Maria returning back the next day.
But there was on thing that wasn't Sasha's plan. It wasn't her plan for Maria to see her in bed with Brian that day. In fact, she was totally oblivious of the fact that Maria had seen them, except for the fact that Maria ended up exposing them on the wedding day.
It was funny and unexpectedly that the table turned around and was in her favour. Now, she had gotten married to Brian.
A few maids greeted Sasha as she walked into the house. One of the maids directed her into the room where she would stay. She had her bath and changed into a more comfortable outfit and headed out of the room.
Brian's family were seated on the dining, and everyone was waiting for her to join them at the table. They ate in awkward silence, without anyone making a sound, except for the clinging of the cutleries on the plate.
"I'm okay," Brian said, and stood up from the chair.
"I'd follow you," Sasha said and also stood up.
"There's no need for that." Brian said coldly. All the while, Sasha had noticed Brian demeanour towards her, it was far from friendly.
Suddenly, a man burst into the room sweating. Everyone turned towards him, and he made a statement, telling them of the state of Maria in Veilwood pack. How she had an accident. He even sympathized with Sasha over her sister and the family also comforted Sasha, saying that she shouldn't feel sad about it, and her sister would definitely recover.
However, Sasha was far from being sad. She even felt a bit happy at Maria's state. Although, she had never wished for Maria to die.
Brian left the dining room after hearing the news concerning Maria. Sasha also followed him, and entered into his chambers.
"Where are you going?" Sasha asked in confusion as he put on his dressing boots.
He simply ignored her and continued dressing. She moved closer to him, wrapping his hand around him.
"Did I do anything wrong?" She asked in a gentle voice as she pouted her lips.
Brian looked at her impatiently like she was blocking him from doing something important.
"Your sister is sick. I have to see her."
Sasha was taken aback by his statement. She couldn't believe that the reason Brian rushed was so that he could see Maria.
"But baby you don't have to. You need to rest from the journey." Sasha said, trying hard to dissuade him.
Brian's heart was torn. He knew that he had betrayed Maria and he felt guilty for it. At least, he had to go and see her while she is sick, to show that he isn't a wicked person.
"You really don't have to go." Sasha continued to say.
"I can't believe you right now." Brian slightly raised his voice. "Don't you have a bit of care for your sister? You're supposed to be more worried than me."
"I am also worried." Sasha lied. "Let's go and see then tomorrow." She said again.
Brian finally bought her words and kicked the boots off his legs. She smiled to herself, knowing that her plan had finally worked.
He sat on the bed in the room without saying a word.
Sasha came closer to him and knelt between his legs.
"I'm also worried about my sister like you are." She said to him, even though it was a huge lie.
"I know. It's just that I feel bad after what happened." Brian confessed, hanging his head low as he looked at Sasha.
"I understand. None of us meant for this to happen." Sasha said.
She stood up from between his legs and hugged him tightly.
"We were already together before she came. You don't have to feel bad about anything." Sasha comforted him.
He hummed lightly and held her close to his body.
Sasha smiled to herself, knowing that she had gotten what she wanted. Maria was out of the way, which meant that she had a high chance of being the Luna of Veilwood pack.
But would the moon goddess allow that to happen?
