Chapter 29 - The Targeted Perseus

At the headquarters of Perseus, one of the allied communities of Thousand Eyes and a subordinate community of the Goddess Athena in the Lower Floors.

A girl with golden hair that shimmered like gold and lion-like eyes sat on the main throne.

"What's our current financial status? Is it enough to buy Leticia and her Divinity?"

Aishelia Perseus, the current leader of Perseus.

In less than 1,600 years, she had integrated the Perseus community and developed it into a leading Four-Digit force.

Even the descendants of the god Perseus held this wise and courageous leader in high regard.

In response to Aishelia's question, Laius answered.

"Our financial situation is currently stable, but to purchase Leticia, who possesses exceptional Four-Digit strength, it may still fall far short."

After all, Perseus couldn't compare to the former Arcadia. Even Arcadia had to make great sacrifices to spend such a sum.

"If we buy her, it would even affect the normal operations of the community."

"Even to win Shiroyasha's favor, the price is too high."

Laius said with clear dissatisfaction. And was Shiroyasha, a mere Four-Digit, really worth such a massive expenditure for Perseus?

He couldn't believe Athena would fear Shiroyasha.

Wasn't Shiroyasha just a Star Spirit? Hadn't their ancestors defeated her before? Wasn't the Demon Star Algol sealed within Perseus's inherited Gift and now subservient to them?

"Can't we just buy Leticia, Lady Aishelia?"

"Perseus must fight for the Floor Master position. This is a critical moment. If we face financial issues now—"

"What about the Floor Master position?"

Aishelia sighed, turned, and calmly looked at Laius.

"Laius, what does a person become if they only see immediate gains?"

"What?"

Laius paused for a moment, then replied with a strange expression.

"Perhaps a competent leader?"

"That's what you think..."

Aishelia sighed and spoke in a flat tone.

"In my opinion, they're nothing but a beast wrapped in human skin."

"Enough. Release all community funds and prepare useless Gifts for sale to raise capital."

"Obtain Leticia and her Divinity by any means necessary."

Facing Laius, Aishelia gave up on further explanation. Laius was too shortsighted.

"Lady Aishelia..."

Laius's expression slightly tightened, as if he still wanted to defend himself.

At that moment, Aishelia slammed her hand against the armrest and shouted.

"Didn't you hear my order?"

"Yes, Lady Aishelia."

Seeing Laius leave, Aishelia sighed helplessly.

"Haaahhh, when will they ever develop some foresight?"

If only they had a little foresight—with their connections to the Greek divine group and Athena, their position as Thousand Eyes officials, and the legacy of the Perseus ancestors—they wouldn't have fallen to a level where they weren't even a Four-Digit community.

But this was an old problem with Demi-God bloodlines. They almost always inherited their ancestors' character flaws.

Hardly any Demi-God descendants could match their ancestors. Without their ancestors, who knew what would become of them?

◆━⊰✧⊱━◆

On the other hand, despite Laius's strong dissatisfaction with his aunt, he would still obey Aishelia's orders.

After all, Aishelia hadn't risen through connections. Under the Greek worldview that emphasized patriarchy and valued men over women, Aishelia had risen step by step through her own merit.

Even the ancestor Perseus himself, if fighting at equal power, might not necessarily be Aishelia's match.

Laius arrived at Perseus's treasury, looking at the various treasures, gold coins, and glowing Gifts inside.

He didn't even lift his eyelids, only feeling a slight sadness.

All these properties would eventually be inherited by him. After all, he was the only male in the Perseus family.

Shaking his head helplessly, Laius pulled out his Gift card and aimed it at the wealth Perseus had accumulated over the years.

However, Laius didn't realize that beside him, two small figures in black cloaks had appeared, seemingly from nowhere.

One was no taller than one and a half meters, their entire body hidden beneath a black cloak, revealing only parts of their hands and feet.

On those exposed hands and feet were thick muscles and dense hair, somewhat resembling an ape.

The other had a smaller build, not much larger than the children of No-Name.

But a single strand of golden hair peeking from her hood revealed she was a little girl.

"Chaos Demon King, aren't you going to act?"

The girl looked at the hesitant Chaos Demon King and asked. They had worked so hard to gather intelligence—finally, they could obtain enough wealth to buy Leticia's Divinity.

Though she felt a little guilty toward her aunt, but to gain a better foothold in Ouroboros, and for her mother, Lamia Draculea,

She had to buy Leticia's Divinity.

Lamia Draculea II, daughter of Lamia Draculea and younger sister of the long-lost Leticia.

Because of her mother, she had joined Ouroboros.

As for the Chaos Demon King, he was also a Demon Lord of Ouroboros and currently her teammate.

He was the younger brother of the Great Sage Equaling Heaven, Sun Wukong. His wish was for his older sister to kill him, complete her trial, and perfect her own Divinity. That was his reason for joining Ouroboros.

His Divinity granted him the ability to be invisible to anyone except children.

This was why they had come together to steal Perseus's treasure.

They had waited for this moment—when Laius opened the treasury—to seize the wealth they had accumulated over years.

"Let's move. Should we leave a little for them?"

The Chaos Demon King turned to Lamia beside him, showing a cruel smile. He planned to leave some clues pointing to himself.

Ideally, he could force his older sister to kill him.

"Don't cause trouble, don't waste time. It won't be good if that woman named Aishelia finds out."

"We're no match for that woman."

Lamia shook her head. This operation was for her personal gain. She had bought this information. It wasn't an Ouroboros mission.

So, better not to make too much noise.

"Alright."

Then, Laius instantly collapsed, his head tilted.

And the Gift card containing all of Perseus's wealth was seized by Lamia and the Chaos Demon King.

"Maxwell, troubling you again~"

"It's fine. Next time, just help me meet Willa."
