The question slipped out of my mouth before my brain could stop it, which was becoming a recurring theme in my life lately.

The kind where the chairs were suspiciously comfortable, the cutlery weighed more than my phone, and the waiter looked like he'd silently judge you if you asked for ketchup.
Private. Discreet. Obscenely expensive.
Exactly the kind of place I shouldn't be seen in—especially not with them.
I had assumed the "important discussion" Eric insisted on was about my name cleared, about finally cutting Lance loose from whatever hook he'd been dangling from, and about the absolute PR nightmare that was Miracle in Crisis.
That alone was reason enough for me to risk being seen in public with AUREA's golden boys.
Apparently, I had assumed wrong.
