Chapter 17 - The Bigger the Storm, the More Expensive the Fish!

Tang San stood frozen, his body stiff with disbelief."How… how is this possible? How could you escape my sight?"

All of Xiaotian's afterimages suddenly disappeared. He gave a faint, mocking smile."Your eyes? You mean when they suddenly turned purple? Haven't you heard the saying—speed decides everything? Your eyes just can't keep up with mine. Do you want to continue?"

Sword Fifteen hovered closer, its sharp edge aimed at Tang San. Feeling the danger, Tang San clenched his teeth and finally admitted,"I give up."

Right then, the system's familiar voice rang out in Xiaotian's mind:

[Host is incredible! You just defeated Tang San again, even countering him with his own mother's skill. Truly shocking!][But warning—Tang Hao nearly made a move just now. If you keep pressing with your sword, he won't stay quiet!]

Xiaotian smirked to himself but kept calm."You know what they say—the greater the storm, the greater the reward. High risks bring high returns. Now tell me, what did I earn this time?"

[Ding! Congratulations! The host triggered a critical reward: "Three Absolute Sword Qis," granted as a god-given soul ring!]

Xiaotian's smile deepened. As expected, taking risks paid off. Perhaps every time he pushed Tang San, he would unlock more rewards.

His gaze turned toward Tang San, whose face had gone pale. The look in Xiaotian's eyes made Tang San shiver with unease.

Still, Tang San forced himself to speak politely."Xiaotian, you're amazing. I lost fairly. That sword intent of yours broke through mid-battle. I couldn't keep up."

Xiaotian chuckled at Tang San's hidden meaning."True. Without that sudden breakthrough, I might have lost. Tang San, every battle with you pushes me forward. Over the next six years, I'll come to you for sparring. I hope you won't mind."

Tang San's lips twitched. He now understood the chill he felt—Xiaotian had no mercy when it came to words. Still, he kept a friendly face."Of course. I welcome it. Fighting you will help me improve too."

Privately, Tang San didn't believe he would keep losing. This arrangement was actually useful. It gave him the chance to observe Xiaotian closely, to confirm his suspicion—was Xiaotian also someone from another world?

Tang San's thoughts were interrupted by his teacher.

"Xiaotian," Yu Xiaogang said, stepping forward, "would you consider becoming my disciple? You have sharp comprehension. Though your innate soul power is only level five, your sword intent is already so refined.

I am Yu Xiaogang, one corner of the Golden Iron Triangle. I've studied martial spirits across the continent, and I've met sword masters, even Chen Xin of the Seven Treasures Glazed Sect. Compared to him, your sword intent is still shallow. But with my guidance, you can grow far stronger."

Xiaotian eyed Yu Xiaogang's proud expression and suppressed a laugh.

"You claim to understand swords?"

Yu Xiaogang nodded eagerly. To him, Xiaotian's martial spirit clearly had special potential. A civilian-born youth with talent and comprehension was perfect material for his theories.

But Xiaotian had already realized the system rewarded him more for handling things smartly. He didn't want to provoke Yu Xiaogang needlessly, especially since they would all remain at Notting College for years.

So Xiaotian answered tactfully,"Master, you are a respected theorist, known as the wisest of the Golden Iron Triangle. I've heard of your famous Trinity Fusion Technique. Accepting Tang San, a genius born with full innate power, is worthy of your reputation.

But if word spread that you accepted me, a commoner with only level five soul power, people might laugh at you. For your sake, I must decline.

However, I admire your knowledge. If it's possible, I'd like to occasionally ask for your advice on sword cultivation during my time at Notting."

Yu Xiaogang's face stiffened. His pride was wounded, but Xiaotian had praised him highly while rejecting him politely. It was impossible to press further.

"Very well," Yu Xiaogang said, swallowing his frustration. "Come with Tang San to my office whenever you wish to consult me."

With that, he took Tang San away.

Xiao Wu, who had been watching quietly, finally stepped forward. She had held back earlier, wary of Xiaotian's sharp sword aura.

"Xiaotian, you're really strong! But… what is your soul power level now?"

Her curiosity burned. Such sword intent couldn't be supported without strong soul power.
