# **Chapter 20 – Cosmic Dreams**

The night after the harvest festival was heavy with silence. Lanterns flickered low, music faded, and the village fell into rest. Ratan lay in his small hut, staring at the thatched roof above, his thoughts consumed by fragments of the day.

Sunita's whisper lingered in his heart: *Hope.*

The word pulsed in him like a heartbeat. Yet behind it, the serpent's warning echoed just as strongly: *Love is fire. It warms… or it burns.*

Somewhere between those two voices, exhaustion finally pulled him into sleep.

### **The Dream Begins**

Darkness.

Ratan opened his eyes and found himself standing in an endless void. No sky, no earth—only a boundless expanse of black, punctuated by faint stars that pulsed as if alive.

His breath caught. *Where… am I?*

The air felt thick, vibrating with ancient power. And then he heard it.

A hiss. Long, low, echoing through the void.

The stars shifted. Slowly, they coiled, linking one to another until they formed the outline of a colossal serpent stretching across infinity. Its scales shimmered like galaxies, each movement sending ripples of light through the void.

Ratan's knees trembled. "You…"

The serpent's golden eyes blazed like suns, locking onto him. Its voice rumbled not in sound, but in his soul.

*Child of Root, Flow, and Fire… you awaken swiftly. Too swiftly.*

---

### **The Serpent's Revelation**

The serpent circled him, vast and infinite. Each coil could have swallowed his entire world.

*Do you know what you carry?* it hissed.

"I…" Ratan swallowed, struggling to breathe. "I carry your mark. Your power."

The serpent's laugh shook the stars themselves. *Foolish boy. You carry not my power—but my destiny. A fragment of me sleeps within you. With each gate you awaken, the seal weakens. With each step, you walk not only your path… but mine.*

Ratan's chest tightened. "Your path? What are you?"

The serpent's eyes narrowed. *I am older than clans. Older than your world. I am the coil that binds heaven and earth, the fang that devours creation, the silence between stars. I am both curse and blessing, death and eternity. And you… are my vessel.*

---

### **The Cosmic Vision**

Suddenly, the void shattered.

Ratan saw visions—worlds colliding, mountains shattering, rivers burning with fire. Armies clashed across plains of ash. Above them, an endless serpent coiled through the skies, swallowing suns, devouring universes.

He saw himself standing at the serpent's side, eyes blazing, his seven Chakras glowing like miniature suns across his body. Entire realms bowed—or burned—before him.

But just as quickly, the vision shifted.

He saw himself consumed by the serpent, his body dissolving into scales and fangs, his identity erased, nothing left but the eternal hiss of the beast.

Ratan screamed, clutching his head. "Stop! STOP!"

The visions faded. The void returned.

---

### **The Bargain of the Serpent**

The serpent lowered its massive head, bringing its burning eyes level with his.

*You walk a fragile path, boy. Seven Chakras. Seven gates. Each one brings you closer to me. When the seventh awakens, you will either ascend beyond gods… or cease to exist, becoming one with me forever.*

Ratan's voice shook. "I don't want to vanish. I don't want to lose myself!"

*Then fight,* the serpent hissed. *Strength is not given—it is taken. Will is not inherited—it is forged. Every bond, every love, every battle will test you. Break, and you become my husk. Endure, and perhaps… perhaps you may wield me, instead of becoming me.*

---

### **The Test of Bond**

The serpent's eyes glimmered. *Already, you let bonds stir your heart. The girl. Sunita.*

Ratan froze.

*Her whisper rooted in you like a seed. Seeds can grow into trees… or choke into weeds. Remember this, boy: love may anchor you, or it may chain you. Which will it be?*

Ratan clenched his fists. "I won't let her be my weakness. I'll make her my strength."

The serpent's laughter echoed once more, shaking the stars. *Bold words. Let us see if fire can warm without burning.*

---

### **The Awakening**

The serpent began to unravel, its massive coils dissolving into streams of light. Its voice faded with the stars.

*Awaken, child of Root, Flow, and Fire. Dream of me, fear me, worship me, resist me—it matters not. For in the end… we are one.*

The void collapsed.

Ratan gasped and bolted upright in his hut, drenched in sweat. His heart pounded like a drum. Outside, dawn's first light crept over the horizon.

But inside him, something new stirred. His three Chakras pulsed in unison, yet there was a faint echo now—a whisper beyond them, like the distant hiss of eternity.

He pressed a hand against his stomach, trembling.

"I am not your vessel," he whispered. "I am me."

But even as he said it, he could not silence the serpent's final words: *We are one.*

### **Foreshadowing**

That morning, Ratan returned to training with the Snake Spirit Master. His eyes burned brighter, fiercer, haunted by cosmic visions.

The master studied him silently, noticing the shift. "You dreamed," he said simply.

Ratan froze. "You… know?"

The master's lips curved faintly. "Every disciple of the serpent dreams, sooner or later." His golden gaze pierced him. "The question is not whether you dream—but whether you survive the dream."

And somewhere far away, in a temple long forgotten, ancient murals of the serpent glowed faintly, as if stirred awake by Ratan's vision.

The cosmos itself had begun to notice the boy of Prithvi Gaon.
