Paul led more than a dozen men through the airport, conducting an aggressive search. Lin Chen quietly pulled Lorna out of their line of sight and casually formed a water mirror seal, calculating silently.
"So he got the news already and came after me?"
"Even vampires are colluding with the Holy See now?"
Lorna nodded lightly. "I know some vampires too. Those elders… they're extremely powerful, and they do nothing but evil."
Lin Chen muttered thoughtfully, eyes narrowing. "Powerful enough to generate evil karma, huh? That means they're perfect targets for spirit talismans. I wonder… do they count toward merit if I kill them?"
"Kill them?" Lorna looked at him with admiration. "Daoist… you're really going to act on behalf of Heaven again."
A new plan had already taken shape in Lin Chen's mind.
He suddenly scooped Lorna up and whistled softly. One of the Six Tongue Techniques slipped out unintentionally, nearly making her faint on the spot.
"You go to Gotham first," Lin Chen said calmly. "I'll notify Harley and the others. Mindy's there too."
Lorna nodded blankly, still dizzy.
"Master… be careful," she said softly, losing all her usual queenly composure. "I'll wait for you at home."
Lin Chen handed her several talismans and watched as she boarded the plane.
Just as the boarding gate closed, Paul and his group approached. With official credentials, they had the authority to inspect planes directly.
Lin Chen calmly walked toward another boarding area—Flight 070—and "accidentally" knocked over someone's luggage. The sudden commotion immediately caught Paul's attention.
Paul spotted Lin Chen at once. "It's him!"
Lin Chen looked up in panic and bolted.
Paul led the chase but quickly made a decision, pointing back. "Send a team to search that plane. Don't let his accomplice escape."
Lin Chen glanced back briefly and smiled faintly.
"As expected… a fool."
He led more than a dozen people on a leisurely chase around the airport. Once Lorna's plane safely took off, Lin Chen stepped lightly, activated Shrinking Step, and vanished.
Paul's group stopped, panting, empty-handed.
"Hmph. He can't leave Europe," Paul growled. "Notify all regions—full search. Seal all exits."
That night, Lin Chen returned to London.
He sent a message immediately.
"Harley, I'll be unavailable for a while. I ran into Holy See agents at the airport. Lorna will stay with you for now."
Harley replied quickly. "Got it, Master. Be careful. Do you want us to pick you up?"
"No need," Lin Chen replied calmly. "I'm going to eliminate a few vampire elders who massacre villages."
Harley fell silent for a moment—worried, but knowing better than to stop him.
London suburbs.A castle.Another stormy night.
Rain lashed against the windows.
Serena stood by the window, arms crossed, staring into the darkness.
"That bastard just left?" she muttered irritably. "Said he liked my tiger teeth… scumbag."
Her thoughts spiraled.
"What were those werewolves looking for?"
"Lucian… isn't really dead?"
She frowned, lost in thought.
Knock. Knock.
A shadow appeared outside the window.
Serena jumped, then cautiously opened it.
Lin Chen climbed inside.
"You didn't leave?!" she exclaimed. "You climbed in through the balcony?!"
Her eyes immediately locked onto his neck.
Lin Chen instinctively covered it. "Your gaze is dangerous."
Only then did he notice—she wasn't wearing her leather jacket, just loose pajamas that exposed her pale shoulders.
"…Yeah," he muttered. "Girls who don't get sun really are white."
"Why are you here?" Serena demanded. "Where's your green-haired girlfriend?"
"Gone. Holy See agents tried to hunt me at the airport," Lin Chen replied casually. "I came to warn you. Did you betray me?"
"The Holy See?" Serena shook her head. "I have nothing to do with them."
She paused, eyes flicking back to his neck. "Just one drop of blood. Please."
"Don't your kind have rules against forced bloodsucking?" Lin Chen asked flatly.
"I'm not forcing you. I'm asking."
"No."
Serena sat down angrily on the bed.
Lin Chen studied her for a moment, then said softly, "You've been alone for five hundred years."
She stiffened. "What do you mean?"
He pointed at the bed. "The loneliest thing in life is when both pillows belong to yourself."
Serena nearly spat blood. Her small tiger teeth flashed angrily.
Lin Chen lay down casually, resting his head on the pillow. "See? Not alone anymore."
"That's it. I'm leaving," Serena snapped.
She stormed into the bathroom, changed into her leather jacket and boots, and walked out.
Lin Chen sighed and followed.
As they exited the castle from the rear, Kraven spotted them once again. He sneered and made two phone calls.
"What's the plan?" Lin Chen asked.
Serena tossed him a photo. "This human—Meier. A special police officer. Werewolves are tracking him."
Lin Chen glanced at it. "Half werewolf, half vampire bloodline. His blood strengthens werewolves."
Serena stared at him, unimpressed. "So much for mystery. No challenge at all."
They arrived at Meier's apartment.
Serena kicked the door open.
Lin Chen shook his head. "You've never heard of opening doors normally, have you?"
"This is faster," she replied.
Meier wasn't home. No clues.
Moments later, Meier returned from his night shift and froze at the shattered door.
Before he could react, Serena slammed him against the wall, gripping his neck.
"Why are werewolves stalking you?!"
"I—I'm just an intern doctor!" Meier gasped. "I don't know anything!"
Lin Chen nodded. "He's telling the truth."
Serena shot him an annoyed look. "I'm interrogating. Don't interrupt!"
Heavy footsteps thundered upstairs.
"Werewolves!" Serena shouted, opening fire.
The ceiling shattered as seven or eight black-haired werewolves dropped down the walls.
Serena killed one—but more came.
She grabbed Lin Chen and ran.
"You're not even related to me," Lin Chen laughed. "Why save me?"
"Your blood's too valuable," Serena replied honestly. "Better I drink it than let them kill you."
"So it's business, not love?" Lin Chen sighed.
Werewolves lunged.
Silver light flashed.
One by one, they collapsed, convulsing.
Even transformed, their vital points still existed—and Lin Chen saw them all.
Serena finished the rest with gunfire.
"Why do you hate werewolves so much?" Lin Chen asked.
"They slaughtered my family," Serena said quietly. "Blood Clan and Wolf Clan will never coexist."
Lin Chen stepped forward and pulled her into a firm embrace.
"I'm sorry… but the truth isn't what you think."
She stiffened. "Are you taking advantage of this?"
"No," he said softly. "Your parents and your nieces… Victor killed them."
