"Hmph! You fools, watch closely and see how your king fights!" Gilgamesh said as he waved his hand. The golden armor on his body turned into casual clothes. He sat on the stone bench, picked up the game controller, and started playing right away. It was the same battle as before, nothing had changed, and he didn't cheat at all. But Gilgamesh's income grew much faster than Alexander the Great and King Arthur. His production was faster, everything was faster, and he was stronger too.
What surprised everyone even more was that Gilgamesh cared much more about his soldiers' lives than King Arthur or Alexander the Great. He rarely abandoned them.
In their battles, King Arthur and Alexander the Great both had much higher casualty rates than Gilgamesh, especially Alexander the Great, who had the highest losses. But Alexander the Great always managed to rebuild his army quickly. King Arthur's losses were in the middle, but nowhere near as low as Gilgamesh's. Plus, King Arthur earned the least money and cleared stages the slowest among the three. He usually focused on defense and sacrificed some troops only when it was necessary to win.
"Well? Did you see my strategy?" Gilgamesh put down the controller and proudly looked at his stats, which were clearly better than both King Arthur's and Alexander the Great's.
"No doubt about it, Gilgamesh, King of Heroes, you're amazing!" Alexander the Great admitted that Gilgamesh was stronger than him.
"Oh? So you already know who I am?" Gilgamesh wasn't surprised.
"Hahaha! Of course!" Alexander the Great laughed.
Irisviel was shocked when she heard Gilgamesh's identity, and Emiya Kiritsugu frowned slightly, finding it troublesome.
King Arthur looked a little surprised at first but soon returned to normal. Still, deep inside, there was some unwillingness, even though he didn't show it on his face.
King Arthur felt frustrated about losing to a tyrant like Gilgamesh, who loved throwing treasures around, and to Alexander the Great, who spent his whole life plundering.
Tia wasn't surprised that Gilgamesh won. She knew very well how strong he was, especially from the seventh singularity when his power was clear as day.
But the others didn't feel the same.
"Master… that Gilgamesh… he's even stronger than… the king… A tyrant… and yet he knows how to… cut down losses… His casualties were way less… than mine when I played…" Lancelot couldn't help complaining to Tia in his mind.
"Oh? Looks like you're upset, Knight King," Gilgamesh looked at King Arthur and said teasingly, as if he could read King Arthur's mind. "What's wrong? Can't accept losing?"
"Hmph! I am the king of Britain. I'm not so petty that I can't admit losing a game!" King Arthur snorted heavily.
"The king… is taking this too seriously…" At this moment, Lancelot's voice sounded in Tia's mind. Just earlier, he couldn't believe the king had lost, and now he was worried about the king getting stuck on it.
Tia understood too, but as an outsider, she couldn't step into a conversation between kings.
"Is that so? If you want to prove your generosity, then drink this cup of wine!" Alexander the Great looked at King Arthur, filled a cup, and handed it over.
King Arthur looked at the cup, took it without hesitation, and drank it in one go before slowly placing it back on the table.
"And you?" King Arthur looked at Alexander the Great and asked slowly.
Alexander the Great smiled, poured himself a cup, and downed it in one gulp, then poured one for Gilgamesh.
"Your turn, Gilgamesh!" Alexander the Great said.
"Hmph!" Gilgamesh gave a cold snort, took the cup, and sipped lightly. "What cheap stuff is this! You think this can measure a king's generosity? Ridiculous!"
"Oh? So you have something better?" Alexander the Great asked with great interest.
"Of course!" Gilgamesh put the cup on the stone table, then pulled out a golden wine pot and three golden cups from his treasury. He tossed two of them to Alexander the Great and King Arthur. "Look carefully. This is the kind of wine fit for kings!"
Tia watched with great excitement. This was a real-life banquet of kings! She thought tonight would just be a silly carnival, but now it had turned into a king's feast. Hearing them say these lines in person was so thrilling that she couldn't help grinning, and even felt like she wanted to taste that wine too.
But Tia didn't notice Waver and Irisviel at all, both of whom looked very displeased. Still, because of Gilgamesh's status, they didn't dare act out. Even Emiya Kiritsugu frowned slightly.
Gilgamesh put the golden wine pot on the stone table. Alexander the Great looked at the golden cup with great interest, picked it up, poured himself a drink, and then passed the pot to King Arthur. After that, he downed his drink in one gulp.
King Arthur poured herself a cup and took a small sip, surprised by the rich aroma of the wine.
"Ah! Good wine!" Alexander the Great exclaimed.
"Hmph! Of course! Everything in my treasury is the best!" Gilgamesh said proudly. "When it comes to a king's generosity, no one can surpass me!"
"No. Your treasury may be unmatched, but that doesn't measure a king's generosity. A king isn't defined by how many treasures he owns. In this Holy Grail War, the best way to measure a king's generosity is by comparing the wishes each of us entrusts to the Holy Grail," Alexander the Great immediately countered.
"Since you know who I am, you should know why I came to join the Holy Grail War. Every treasure in the world comes from my treasury! It is my duty to protect my treasures!" Gilgamesh said arrogantly.
"Oh? So by your logic, you've owned the Holy Grail before? Then tell me, what does the Holy Grail look like?" Alexander the Great asked right back.
"Hmph! You're wrong. The treasures I own go beyond what I can fully comprehend. But if it's a treasure, then it must come from my treasury! Anyone who dares steal from me is bold indeed!"
"I thought the King of Heroes would be someone truly great. Turns out you're just like that raving magus Gilles de Rais. Who knows when that lunatic will show up again!"
Pfft—what a roast! Tia almost burst out laughing.
