Chapter 23 - Chapter 23 – Bibi Dong: Have You Seen My Hair Tie?

A beast a thousand meters tall—

Was that his complete form?

Bibi Dong stood dazed, staring up at the colossal shadow in the sky. Her shock could no longer be described in words.

Compared to that form, the Death Spider Emperor and Soul-Eating Spider Emperor cowering behind her looked like nothing more than lowly insects, trembling on the ground.

Fortunately, Bibi Dong had urgently shouted just in time. Otherwise, Su Linfeng would have unleashed enough power to destroy her entire spiritual world.

The thunder and flames slowly faded.

Su Linfeng's form gradually shrank back into his human self, drifting down to land before her.

"Mmm~"

With a satisfied groan, Su Linfeng stretched lazily.

The feeling of rebirth after a calamity was beyond words. No one knew what kind of agony he had endured during this evolution. It was no exaggeration to say that he had walked through the gates of death dozens of times.

Every time he was about to collapse, the voice of Bibi Dong calling him "little brat" echoed in his mind.

It was precisely that which carried him through.

Now, he had received the inheritance of Destruction's divine intent. Even his Martial Spirit had evolved, gaining the attribute of Destruction Thunderflame.

"Linfeng, you succeeded!"

Seeing him safe, Bibi Dong finally let out a heartfelt smile—a smile so natural it could topple cities.

In the six years Su Linfeng had known her, he had seen her smile no more than three times. And every time had been different.

The first two were when he was first brought into the forbidden grounds.

"Yes, yes! I did it!"

Su Linfeng nodded eagerly, his eyes fixed on Bibi Dong, his throat bobbing as he swallowed hard.

A rush of blood surged to his head.

His little face flushed crimson.

"Hm?"

Bibi Dong frowned, following his gaze downward—

Empty!

Absolutely nothing!

Burned clean, even her hair was gone.

Her mind went blank as the memory of thunder and fire searing her body resurfaced.

With a thought, her violet hair and robes reappeared, restored exactly as before. After all, this was only her spiritual world, which she could control at will.

But the next instant—

Her smile froze.

The look in Su Linfeng's eyes had shifted. No longer concern, but endless coldness and anger.

A six-year-old child blushing at something like this?

Could he even understand?

Was this normal?

Three questions struck Bibi Dong's mind at once.

The answer was clear: this little brat's mind was far more mature than any ordinary child!

"Su Linfeng! You little bastard!"

Her spiritual world exploded. She shouted in fury, raising her palm to smack down on his head.

But Su Linfeng's reaction was lightning-fast. The moment her hand fell, his body flared into violet-golden flame and vanished from her spiritual world.

—Outside.

By now, daylight had already filled the sky.

Su Linfeng and Bibi Dong opened their eyes almost simultaneously.

In an instant, Bibi Dong seized his hands, staring into his six-year-old face with piercing eyes.

"What was that reaction just now?"

"What reaction?"

Su Linfeng's heart pounded wildly, but he forced a calm voice: "I just thought it looked… white. Elder Sister, your whole body was so white. Even your hair was burned off by my Skyflame. It looked kind of funny."

Advance by retreat.

That was the only way to hide the truth.

If Bibi Dong ever discovered that inside this six-year-old body lived the soul of a hundred-thousand-year-old beast, she'd probably devour him on the spot.

One sentence—

Bibi Dong's face turned scarlet, hot as fire.

She froze, staring at him in awkward silence.

White, my ass!

Childish words, just childish words.

This little brat really dared to say anything. Still, only a child could be so blunt. Perhaps she was just overthinking it.

Even so, this bad habit had to be curbed. As he grew, Su Linfeng's mind would only mature further. Better to set boundaries now.

Thinking this, Bibi Dong glared coldly at him.

"You'd best forget what you just saw. Otherwise, I'll eat you alive!"

"Uh…"

Su Linfeng spread his hands innocently. Outwardly calm, but his heart raced at full speed.

Thankfully, it was only a false alarm.

Forget?

How could he possibly forget?

That scene would be burned into anyone's mind. The only miracle was that he had merely blushed. If he'd lost control and gotten a nosebleed, not even jumping into the Yellow River could wash him clean.

"Enough. I won't argue with you."

Bibi Dong let out a long sigh, forcing herself to calm down. "Show me your Martial Spirit."

"Mm."

Su Linfeng nodded. Soul power surged through his right hand. A three-legged golden crow, wrapped in violet lightning, appeared in his palm.

It was a black three-legged bird, its body coursing with arcs of thunder. Though pitch black, it radiated dazzling firelight. The violet lightning interlaced with crimson flame, fusing into a terrifying violet-red thunderflame.

The instant his Martial Spirit appeared, a wave of oppressive heat and destruction surged out.

Bibi Dong's eyes narrowed.

Even prepared as she was, she still felt suppressed.

A god-level Martial Spirit!

It had to be. Its aura was even more terrifying than the Angelic Martial Spirit.

If the Angel Spirit was the natural counter to Bibi Dong's attributes, then this Three-Legged Golden Crow was a force that suppressed her very soul.

Its rank was even higher.

As one closest to that realm herself, Bibi Dong was sensitive to the divine.

"Elder Sister."

Su Linfeng grinned, brimming with confidence. "Not only did my Martial Spirit evolve, but my soul power also rose by three ranks. That means I can help you suppress the evil aura for half an hour longer now!"

"You…"

Looking into his clear eyes, Bibi Dong's heart trembled.

This boy—

His Martial Spirit had transformed so drastically, and he didn't even think to reconsider his cultivation path? He only cared about the three extra ranks—only about helping her suppress the evil godly thoughts.

So foolish!

Her chest warmed. For a moment, she didn't know what to say.

At last, she drew in a breath and hid her feelings behind a cold mask.

"Enough. Put your Martial Spirit away. You've been in this state for three days—your body reeks. Go wash yourself."

Su Linfeng blinked.

He raised his arm and sniffed—truly unbearable.

No wonder she disliked it.

But Bibi Dong wasn't any better. She, too, had stayed by his side for three days.

"Do you want to bathe first, or should I?" she asked.

"You go first, Elder Sister."

"Very well."

She stood and stretched, her joints cracking softly. Sitting on the bed's edge, she rubbed her neck and muttered, "I am rather tired."

Out of habit, she swept her long violet hair behind her ear, intending to tie it back. One hand patted around the bedside, searching.

Then she looked at Su Linfeng.

Have you seen my hair tie?
