In the conference room, Robert is sitting with his four wives at the table. Roxanne and Barbara are on one side, while Selene and Diana are sitting on the other side. Selene is speaking loudly in tears while everyone listens to what she is saying.
There are a few more people on the side watching them talk as well. They are Robert's thirteen children. Everyone is standing in a line. Roxanne's children are standing in one group, and then Barbara's children are standing beside Roxanne's children. After that, Selene's children and Diana's child are standing together.
What happened? Why is everyone sitting in a conference? Why are they having a conversation together with the whole family?
For this, you need to go back a day.
Diana went to Selene's room to have a talk at night. Selene welcomed Diana with a smile. Diana then talked about the conversation she had with Ray, and it seems Selene agreed right away. Selene appeared to be at the brink of insanity. She might have had some plan of her own, but she didn't tell Diana about it.
Diana and Selene went to their targets' courtyards. They first saw strong guards around the first to third children of Roxanne—tightly guarded with guards from Iron Peak level to Bronze Mid level. But when they went near the fourth child's courtyard, there was only one bodyguard, also only at the Iron Peak level. Then they went to see the fifth child of Roxanne—there were actually no guards. It seems he only had one maidservant, like Ray.
After watching for quite a while, they ensured that they set up a formation covering the courtyard of Reggie so that what they were about to do could neither be seen nor heard by others. This formation had both concealing and soundproof mechanisms. So no one would notice or hear anything happening inside.
Diana wanted to go in, poison Reggie, and walk out. But it seems Selene had different business. She took out a curse talisman and went in.
Reggie, who had been sleeping on his bed, opened his eyes to see an assassin—mask on, covering the whole head—entering his room.
Reggie screamed his lungs out, but nothing happened. No one came to help him. Now he knew he was in trouble.
So he said, "Please don't kill me."
Selene said with a smile on her face inside the mask, "Blame it on your mother. What is about to happen? Tell your mother she has awakened the dragon from slumber."
Then Selene came forward and threw a talisman at Reggie. It took effect instantly. He started to scream and scream for an hour before finally fainting.
Selene left with Diana. Diana then asked, "What type of talisman is that?"
Selene replied with a straight face, "It is a cursed talisman. Every time he wakes up, he will feel pain worse than death. It will only stop if he faints or dies."
Diana shivered and asked, "Are you okay?"
Selene only smiled and said, "I'm fine. Get ready for tomorrow's meeting with Roxanne and Barbara. It's getting late, and I'm very tired. I need to sleep before they start calling us for the meeting tomorrow. Also, Sister Diana, can you make sure that the husband and all thirteen children come as well? They also need to hear what we're going to discuss."
"I can call twelve children and my husband to come, but you will have to call your first son to return as well," said Diana with a nod.
Selene nodded back and said, "I will. Thank you very much for your help."
A few hours ago
Ray was waiting for his mother to return to her room. He was so worried that his mother might get into trouble that he hadn't even checked on his system yet.
When Diana came in, Ray sighed in relief and came forward, running to hug her. Diana bent down and hugged him back.
Diana then gave a recap of what had happened and what they had seen. Ray was shocked by how calm and peaceful Selene—someone who always seemed childlike—had suddenly become.
Ray said, "Mother, be prepared for the storm tomorrow. The third mother is going to release her frustration tomorrow. Take formation-like protection and teleportation formation disks if you have to, Mother."
Diana didn't understand, since Selene was too kind-hearted to do anything dangerous. But since her son said it, she decided to listen—just in case.
A few hours later
After that, they all went to sleep. Today Ray was sleeping with his mother. So when he woke up, he saw that his mother had already dressed and was doing light makeup in front of the mirror.
Ray got up and asked, "What happened?"
Diana replied, "Last night, after the incident, Reggie couldn't sleep and fainted a couple of times. Finally, when the sun rose, Roxanne couldn't take it anymore and asked for a meeting."
Diana continued, "You are also coming with me. I've already told Robert and all the children to be there at the meeting as well. It seems Selene has some announcement to make."
"Mother, do you have anything that can help make any deal you make more binding like a contract paper?" asked Ray.
"I do have a contract paper of Qi to Golden level. Why do you ask?" asked Diana.
"Just a feeling. Every time I hear my third mother's name from you, I get a bad feeling," said Ray.
Ray also went to his room to freshen up and change clothes. Then he returned to his mother's room so they could go to the conference room together.
On their way, they saw Selene waiting outside alone for them. Selene repeated what Ray had said yesterday, but with a few added details. She told Diana that she was going to create some trouble and that she needed Diana to protect their kids when they went into the conversation.
After some time, Ray and Diana followed Selene, where her three children were waiting. Out of the three, Ray had already met Selene's daughter Angelina and her second son, Andrew. For the first time, Ray met Angelina's elder brother, Alex Walker.
Alex is 16 years old and already at the peak of the Iron Stage—one level away from becoming a Bronze-level cultivator. Andrew is only 12 years old and has already reached 4th Wood Stage. Angelina is at the 2nd Qi Stage.
Both Diana and Selene entered the conference room while their children followed behind. When they entered, they saw the other nine children already waiting at the corner, standing, waiting for Diana and Selene to enter with their children.
At the conference table, in the middle, Robert was sitting. On one side of the table, Roxanne and Barbara were seated. Roxanne had dark circles under her eyes and visible tear marks. Even after makeup, the tear marks could still be seen. Barbara was sitting quietly, waiting for them.
After they entered, Robert gave a signal and told his two other wives to take their seats. Upon seeing that, Selene and Diana took their seats opposite Barbara and Roxanne.
Ray could already feel the tension in the room and could sense a huge fight about to break out. Selene and Roxanne were looking at each other with fire in their eyes—as if they would go all out if the children weren't present.
Robert, who was sitting in the middle and witnessing this intense reaction from both sides, could only sigh and then say,
"Let's hear what you ladies have to say. Why are we not at peace?"
