"I really apologize for this inconvenience I'm about to…" Chad was apologizing again, expecting the next words out of Rafe's mouth to be full of disappointment, until the question registered.
Furrowing his brows, his grip on the telephone tightened, and his eyes shifted slightly in confusion.
"I-I'm sorry, what?"
Rafe was silent for a brief second before he exhaled sharply. "I said, did anyone touch you?"
Chad blinked, a fuzzy feeling taking root in his heart at the anger in Rafe's voice.
"You're my help, and I need you at full capacity when you assist me later. If you're hurt, you won't serve me well."
As if hearing his thoughts, Rafe's calm voice filtered into his ears the next second and Chad's pupils dimmed, the fuzzy feeling in his heart vanishing in an instant.
Feeling odd for no reason, he clenched his bruised knuckles and shrugged.
"It's nothing, sir. I merely got into a fight with a teacher and might end up paying dearly for it."
Rafe went silent again.
