Chapter 6 - Chapter 6 Gringotts Deposit

"Last step, taking you to Gringotts."

Not lingering long in the shop, Tonks continued to lead George to Gringotts.

Gringotts is the only Wizard bank in the British Magic Society, managed by Goblins, and located on the north side of Diagon Alley.

Besides storing money and safeguarding the valuables of Wizards and Witches, it also allows the exchange of Muggle currency for magic currency.

George had now officially inherited the Old Wizard's estate through the Ministry of Magic, so naturally, he had to go to Gringotts to make all the money the Old Wizard had saved his own.

"So ugly!"

Arriving at the entrance of Gringotts, George secretly muttered to himself as he looked at the Goblin guards dressed in scarlet, gold-trimmed uniforms.

The Goblins and Elves of this World were not the beautiful creatures one imagined; instead, they were very ugly, roughly resembling Goblins.

Following Tonks up the White steps and into Gringotts' bronze doors, a second silver door appeared before him, with very striking words carved on it.

The general meaning was not to harbor ill intentions towards Gringotts' wealth, or one would die a miserable death.

Standing beside the silver door were two Goblin attendants, who, upon seeing Tonks and George, first bowed to them, then led them into a tall, marble hall.

Here, about a hundred Goblins were busily handling various transactions for the incoming Wizards.

Tonks led George to an idle Goblin, taking out all the documents he had just processed at the Ministry of Magic and handing them over.

"Vault inheritance change."

The Goblins at Gringotts were unlike the staff at the Ministry of Magic; their efficiency was extremely high, and they quickly checked all the documents, confirming everything was in order before saying to George:

"This is the key to Vault 352. Please keep it safe. Do you wish to withdraw money from the vault now?"

"No need, just tell me how many Galleons are currently left in the vault."

George took the key and put it in his pocket.

There were still five hundred Galleons left in the shop after the Old Wizard's death, which was enough for him for now.

"Vault 352 currently has a total of thirteen thousand two hundred Galleons remaining."

The Goblin replied after flipping through the accounts.

"It seems that the Potion business truly is profitable. I only earn one hundred Galleons a month now, and even after becoming full-time, it's only one hundred forty Galleons."

Tonks, standing nearby, couldn't help but show an envious expression.

According to her salary, it would probably take her ten years to accumulate that many Galleons, and that's without any expenses; otherwise, it might take twenty or thirty years to save that much.

And George, who had originally furrowed his brow, instantly calmed his expression after hearing Tonks' words.

He had originally thought the Old Wizard had at least over a hundred thousand Galleons saved, so he was a bit disappointed when he heard there were only a little over ten thousand Galleons.

But thinking about it, it was quite normal.

The Old Wizard ran a Potion shop and did black market dealings, so he definitely made money, probably even more than legitimate Potion shops.

However, buying this Potion shop must have cost a lot, plus researching Potions, especially high-level Potions, was like Water flowing, with a necessarily very large consumption.

Now, having over ten thousand Galleons left made sense.

Compared to Tonks' salary, over ten thousand Galleons was already a lot, enough to splurge for quite some time.

Wizard currency is divided into three types: Galleons, Sickles, and Knuts.

One Galleon is equal to Seventeen Sickles, and one Sickle is equal to twenty-nine Knuts.

According to Dora's memory, a copy of The Daily Prophet only cost five Knuts, a normal meal was about two or three Sickles, and most Wizard wands did not exceed ten Galleons.

"George, Hogwarts should send you a new acceptance letter tomorrow morning. Study magic well at Hogwarts; you'll definitely make many friends there. I'm leaving now, come visit me when you have time!"

At the entrance of Gringotts, Tonks smiled and ruffled George's head again.

George's heart stirred upon hearing this, and then he sincerely invited her:

"Sister Tonks, if it weren't for you, I definitely wouldn't have been able to inherit this estate so smoothly. I want to treat you to lunch to express my gratitude. You won't refuse me, will you?"

"I..."

Tonks originally wanted to say she had to return to the Ministry of Magic, but seeing George's sincere and hopeful eyes, coupled with recalling the delicious food she had eaten that morning, she hesitated.

"Of course I won't refuse. Then I'll trouble you."

Anyway, it was already this time, and it was time to eat and fill her stomach. Returning to the Ministry of Magic a little later wouldn't be a big deal.

Seeing Tonks agree, George felt a slight relief in his heart.

He needed Tonks to appear at his shop as much as possible to dispel the petty thoughts of those Dark Wizards in Knockturn Alley.

At the same time, he also wanted to get along with Tonks as much as possible.

If Tonks could frequently come to the shop, he would have the opportunity to ask Tonks to learn a few more magic spells during the time before he went to Hogwarts.

This was very important for his main body.

Escaping the experimental Base was not an easy task, and resisting the subsequent pursuit after escaping was even harder. The more magic he learned, the more protection he would have.

Especially since he knew that the time for his main body to escape the experimental Base wouldn't be too long.

"Good thing my cooking is good!"

George planned to prepare a table full of delicious food next, to see if he could use food to make Tonks come more often.

As the Old Wizard's slave, Dora had good cooking skills from years of practice, and George himself had a hobby for gourmet food in his previous life.

Although he couldn't compare to professional chefs, his cooking skills were generally recognized by his friends.

Combining the two, he was quite confident in making delicious dishes that suited individual taste preferences.

"What kind of dish is this? It tastes very special. Why have I never eaten it anywhere else before?"

"Sweet and sour pork."

"And this one? It's also delicious."

"Kung Pao Chicken."

"And this?"

"Scrambled eggs with tomatoes."

After lunch, Tonks sat in her chair, patting her round belly and sighing:

"This is the best meal I've ever eaten."

"Sister Tonks, if you think it's delicious, you can come over often when you have time. I can make many more delicious dishes."

George said with a smile as he cleared the dishes.

Tonks waved her hand upon hearing this:

"How can I do that? Sister isn't that thick-skinned."

In her opinion, George was already very pitiful, so how could she, relying on her identity as an Auror, come to take advantage? That wasn't her style.

Seeing Tonks refuse, George probably guessed the reason, so he said seriously:

"Sister Tonks, please don't feel embarrassed. Your frequent visits for meals are actually very helpful to me.

This is Knockturn Alley..."

At this point, there was no need to beat around the bush.

Tonks wasn't stupid; with George's reminder, she immediately understood.

"In that case, alright. Then Sister will come over to freeload meals when she has time.

But I won't freeload your meals for nothing. Sister will buy all the ingredients. No refusing."
