"Justice may be late, but it will never be absent..."
"How was that? Did I come at the perfect time? Wasn't that shot cool? I practiced it in the back for a long time before coming to save you. My arm is a little sore; the recoil of this hand cannon is no joke," Javier said as he ran toward Rebecca and Billy. He gave a flourish, put the large M500 revolver in his pocket, and struck a pose.
What Javier didn't expect was that Rebecca's eyes turned red with anger. She looked at the twitching giant centipede in the pool, and then at the flamboyant Javier. With a rage-filled face, she took the shotgun and hit him in the stomach!
"Bang!"
Javier was caught off guard and couldn't dodge. Rebecca's blow hit his abdomen, and a sharp pain shot through him. He felt like his liver had been smashed. He fell to his knees and writhed on the ground like a shrimp.
"Bang, bang, bang...!!!"
"Practiced, huh? Admire you, huh? A hero, huh!"
"Die, you hateful guy! Why did you watch me get grabbed by that ugly centipede for so long before you came to save me, you damn bastard!"
After hitting him with the shotgun, Rebecca started stomping on Javier. Her little feet in tactical boots gave him a full-body massage, making his bones creak. It hurt like hell. This little devil was truly a handful when she was angry.
"Hey, hey...!"
"I'm warning you, Rebecca, we're partners! And I just got here. I was busy reloading. How could I have saved you so quickly? If you keep treating your savior like this, I'm really going to die here!" Javier yelled, holding his head. He didn't feel any reward for this. He just felt like his old bones were about to break.
Unfortunately, Javier's words had no effect on the angry Rebecca. In her eyes, men were all liars. She didn't stop until she was exhausted. Billy, who was watching them, could only sigh in frustration. They were acting like children. Rebecca had gone too far, but Javier's joke was also a bit much. He could have had a better explanation, but he chose to strike a pose instead. A Marine Corps officer like him was at a loss for words when it came to these two.
After about ten minutes of bickering, the two finally made up. Rebecca realized that she had been rude and unladylike. She was ashamed and her face turned red, but she was too stubborn to apologize. Rebecca was a very proud person. It would take a major event or time to change her personality. She was the kind of person who wouldn't apologize even if her life depended on it, but she would find other ways to show her remorse. In a way, she was kind of cute.
"Here..."
"Drink this. It's not poison. It's a potion to replenish your energy and refresh your mind. It has no side effects on your body," Rebecca said as she handed a red bottle to Javier. She looked away, raising her chin at a 45-degree angle like a proud swan. She was worried that Javier would refuse her offer and would occasionally open her eyes to check his expression.
Javier chuckled and shook his head. He took the potion and drank it. He decided to let it go. After all, it was his fault for making a joke in such a dangerous situation. Rebecca was clearly shaken up. Rebecca was relieved when Javier accepted her "apology."
"Okay... where's the key to the facility?" Javier asked. The crisis was over, but they were still trapped in the facility. Finding a way out was the priority, not flirting.
Rebecca's face became serious. She took out the golden-red key she had just picked up. It looked very rare and expensive. It should be able to open most of the rooms in the facility, which would speed up their progress.
"..."
"Now that we have the key, let's get out of here. I came up here using the elevator. When I was sweeping the first floor, I found a few things I missed, like this microfilm A. It's probably a recording of something important. Now that we have the key, we can explore more rooms and get out of this cursed place!"
Javier looked at the key in Rebecca's hand and thought for a moment. He knew that they were still in the outermost part of the facility. If they kept wandering around, they would be like headless flies. They had to go deeper.
To find more hidden items, Javier decided that the three of them should split up. It was dangerous, but it was the most efficient way to save time. But the danger would also increase. This was not a problem for Javier because Rebecca and Billy were the main characters. As long as there were no butterfly effects, they would be safe. Javier, on the other hand, was just a sidekick, so his life was in more danger.
To be safe, Javier still asked for their opinions, and they immediately agreed. Javier realized that they were even more courageous than he was. He was overthinking things when he was worried that they would disagree.
So, their mission to split up began. They used the key to open most of the rooms and began to explore. The method was very efficient. Javier, who was ahead of them, solved a puzzle. There was a painting of an old man holding a lamp next to a door, and a riddle was written on it: "In the dark, the light will guide you."
It was a simple puzzle. Javier took a lighter and lit the lamp on the door frame. The door to the library opened through the temperature control system.
There were a few zombies in the library, but Javier quickly took care of them. He found a white Book of Goodness in a secret compartment of a bookshelf. Inside, he found a white winged statue, which looked like the missing part of the black statue they had found earlier. But the colors were different. Javier guessed there were two different black and white statues. The Book of Goodness and the black statue were both missing a wing. For the statues to be complete, he would have to find more items.
These two statues were the items needed for the goddess statue in the main hall. Once both statues were placed on the scale, the hidden door to the facility would open.
Meanwhile, Rebecca and Billy also had great success. After clearing out a room, Rebecca found a white statue in a corner. So now they had both the black and white statues. All they needed now was the wing for the black statue, and they would be able to solve the puzzle of the goddess statue. They had made great progress.
Billy found a few cans of gasoline in a kitchen and made some Molotov cocktails. He also played a sliding puzzle in a few rooms and found a clock hand on a deer head decoration on a fireplace. He used the damaged documents to set the clock to 8:15 and triggered a hidden mechanism. In the new room, he found the last microfilm, microfilm B.
With most of the items collected, they just needed to meet up, solve the puzzle, and leave the facility's main hall.
