"..." Kaisen remained silent, just a long silence, and the air in the corridor grew quiet.
Draco, for some reason, felt a strange pressure and swallowed hard.
"Uh... what does 'mudblood' mean?" Harry and Hermione exchanged glances. Although both knew it wasn't a good word, they still didn't understand the slang exclusive to Wizards.
"In short, it's a very, very malicious term for Muggle-born Wizards," Ron explained.
This explanation not only clarified things for Harry and Hermione but also for Kaisen. It sounded like a personal attack combined with bloodline discrimination... Hmm, something he couldn't resolve himself.
Because while he knew the word wasn't good, he still didn't understand its severity—whether it warranted points deduction, detention, or direct humane destruction.
He couldn't grasp the proper measure for these things and could only seek help from the older Wizards.
Although Professor Snape and Professor McGonagall weren't entirely old.
"I'm going to call Professor McGonagall and Professor Snape over now. Do any of you have any objections?"
Draco flinched at the mention of Snape's name, but still said nothing, starting to give everyone the cold shoulder.
The four Little Wizardss of Gryffindor stared at Draco with fierce eyes, also without objection.
"You all go to my office first. I'll go call Professor McGonagall and them." After Kaisen finished speaking, he vanished from the spot, leaving only wisps of purple light.
"Hogwarts isn't supposed to allow Apparition, is it?" Draco said, somewhat bewildered, seeing Kaisen suddenly disappear.
"Hmph, don't ask what you shouldn't," Neville said coldly.
Soon, a sleepy Professor McGonagall and Professor Snape, who was brewing a Potion in his office, were both called by Kaisen from their respective offices. The three walked into the alchemy office.
The five Little Wizardss stood in two groups on either side of the coffee table.
"Now, can you tell me what happened?" Snape asked.
"Now that your Deans are here, tell us what happened."
Ron was the first to look at Professor McGonagall: "Tonight, Professor Kaisen and we were returning from Hagrid's hut. On the way, Malfoy and Hermione kept arguing, and then Malfoy suddenly called Hermione a Mudblood!"
The moment Ron uttered the word "Mudblood," Kaisen felt the office somehow grow colder by several degrees. He slowly shuffled to the fireplace and pressed a skull on it. Flames instantly roared to life in the fireplace.
Before a grim-faced Professor McGonagall could react, Snape looked at Draco with a dark gaze: "Draco... Malfoy... Is that true?"
Draco swallowed, his gaze darting away, not daring to meet Snape's eyes.
Seeing Malfoy's expression, Snape understood and immediately said, "Because of Draco Malfoy, Slytherin will lose twenty points..."
"He also needs a detention to learn his lesson," Professor McGonagall added.
"I don't have time these days, do you?" Snape said.
The two exchanged glances and suddenly looked at Kaisen, who was sitting on the sofa fiddling with a quill.
"... I don't have anything going on. How long will his detention be?"
"One week... plus labor during free time," Snape said calmly.
".... Alright, then it starts tomorrow." Kaisen nodded.
Soon, after Kaisen sent the last person out of the office, he didn't lock the door and return to bed. Instead, he paid a late-night visit to the Library.
Because of Snape's point-adding behavior, it could be said that the scores of all four Houses were somewhat inflated, so twenty points, to be honest, didn't seem to indicate much seriousness or lack thereof.
So, poor Professor Kaisen had to go to the Library late at night to research how to conduct Draco's detention tomorrow, for instance... how severe should it be?
An hour later, Kaisen returned to his office, placed a cubic meter of redstone blocks in the corner, and took out a small file.
He had already decided: tomorrow, if Draco didn't meticulously file this entire redstone block into redstone powder, he wouldn't be allowed to leave.
The next day, in the evening.
"Professor Kaisen, are you joking?" Draco held a small file no thicker than his finger, looked at the redstone block in front of him, which seemed heavier than him no matter how he looked at it, and stared at Kaisen in bewilderment.
"No, Mr. Malfoy. Otherwise, why would you be in detention? You should know that detention is never comfortable."
Draco resignedly squatted down and began filing with the file.
"... Professor, is this that redstone?"
"You know about redstone? You're only a first-year."
"This thing is very famous in the Castle. The fifth-years show it off everywhere," Draco complained.
"Mm-hmm."
"Professor, do you usually use this redstone to create Alchemy constructs?"
"And its powder can be used as a magic circuit, a different method from magic rune circuits."
"What's the difference?"
Kaisen tapped the table: "You're here for detention, not for a lecture."
"Alright." Draco drooped his head, and after a minute or two, Kaisen's voice came again.
"Normally, the magic power contained in a magic rune circuit becomes magic after running through the runes, but this can be done by an Enchanting Table. You should know what an Enchanting Table is, right?"
"Yes, I know."
"And redstone circuits are equivalent to magic power circuits, like a switch, used to activate magic rune circuits."
Draco nodded: "So what's the difference between this and a magic power circuit?"
"Faster, stronger, harder."
"Huh?"
"Keep grinding."
Kaisen sat in his seat reading a book, not forgetting to say, "Please hurry, Mr. Malfoy. Your detention is based on the redstone block. If you only grind this one redstone block in seven days, do you know what that means?"
Draco, for some reason, suddenly felt a chill down his spine.
"It means you have six more redstone blocks of the same size to grind," Kaisen said to himself, not waiting for Draco's answer.
"Oh my God... Professor, you wouldn't be that cruel, would you?"
"....."
"You wouldn't be that cruel, would you?" Draco's movements of filing the redstone involuntarily sped up.
