GTAG Chapter 33: Out of Control
That pulsating mass of flesh was Godzilla's latest creation.
In principle, the process wasn't so different from the earlier ones he had made.
But after the evolution of his G-Cells, everything had fundamentally changed.
This time, the creature inside the tumor displayed stable, healthy life signs.
With Godzilla providing sufficient energy, its growth rate was astonishing.
Even more impressive, no defects had appeared from its rapid development.
Godzilla had already made several genetic modifications, yet the monster remained perfectly viable.
If nothing unexpected happened, it would break free within a few days.
For the first time since he had begun experimenting with monster creation, Godzilla finally felt true satisfaction.
At last—he had produced something he could call a success.
Meanwhile, in Japan.
Ever since Godzilla came ashore, the nation's economy had collapsed worse than during its infamous bubble era.
Observers predicted endless decline.
Yet strangely, instead of spiraling further into chaos, the country began to stabilize.
And with that stability came suspicion, as vast, unexplained amounts of money began circulating.
Soon, the headquarters of the Godzilla Cult was visited by mysterious figures.
What followed shocked the international community.
First, Japan's new leadership suffered waves of suicide attacks from fanatical cultists.
Then, multiple regions simultaneously declared themselves new nations.
Within days, Japan split in two—one a traditional government born from disaster, the other a religious state devoted to Godzilla.
The latter, of course, received no official recognition.
But war broke out almost immediately.
The island erupted into flames.
Within two days, the conflict reached a fever pitch.
Advanced weapons flooded the battlefield, dazzling observers worldwide.
Even more alarming, the Godzilla Cult fielded weaponry more advanced than Japan's own.
It became obvious—they had backers.
And who those backers were was no mystery.
A certain arms-dealing superpower made a fortune.
Their original aim had been to punish a disobedient ally, to break its spine, not to destroy it outright.
But now, profit outweighed restraint.
Japan's government was rich, and desperate.
The cult couldn't pay as much, but loans could bridge the gap.
Thus the war dragged on for two long years.
Finally, the Godzilla Cult triumphed.
A theocratic state in Godzilla's name was founded on Japanese soil.
Absurdly—it even gained recognition from the United Nations.
There was no real choice.
As soon as the war ended, believers from around the globe swarmed to this new "holy land."
Only then did the world realize just how many Godzilla worshippers already existed.
Once, people had only feared him.
Now, he was deified.
For nations hoping to kill him, this was a disaster.
But the group most unsettled was the world's oldest church.
Science had eroded mystery, and most believers only prayed in times of need.
But now—divinity had manifested.
Godzilla was undeniable.
His power was that of a god's judgment.
And in witnessing real miracles of destruction, humanity had found a new faith.
The church seethed.
But they could not act. Godzilla was real, their God was not.
If they attacked the cult, the faithful would burn their cathedrals to ash.
So, they improvised.
The church declared Godzilla to be Leviathan, a beast of divine creation.
He was the Judgement Beast, sent to purify a sinful world.
Those consumed by his flames would have their souls delivered directly into heaven.
The world was stunned.
Only the church could twist the narrative like this.
The Godzilla Cult, however, erupted in fury.
How dare anyone claim the true god required their recognition?
They cursed the church with every word imaginable.
The church, in turn, smiled with paternal indulgence, calling them brothers and urging dialogue.
As if they were scolding children.
The cult was livid, some ready to bomb the Vatican itself.
If not for their leader's restraint, they might have tried.
Meanwhile, countless Christians thrilled at the church's words.
To be burned by Leviathan's holy fire and ascend straight to paradise—this was salvation.
Across the world, the suffering and broken seized on the promise.
They flocked to Japan, eager to end their pain and reach heaven.
No barrier could stop them.
And so, not only Godzilla's own worshippers, but also masses of Christians descended on the island.
Both the cult and the church were left speechless.
Godzilla was in the ocean.
Why were they gathering here?
The situation was spiraling out of control.
