Ares's POV
The safe house was buried in the countryside, miles from the city. No traffic. No neighbors. Just wind and silence.
Jasmine stood by the window, arms folded, staring out into the endless green. She had not said much since we got here. I could not blame her. After everything we found out about Project Knight and my father's name tied to it, she needed space.
But space did not stop danger from getting closer.
I placed my phone on the table, checking the security feed again. "All clear. No movement around the area."
She gave a faint nod but did not turn around. "How long are we going to stay here?"
"Until we know who is behind the threats."
She exhaled sharply, still facing the glass. "And if we never find out?"
"Then we make them come to us." I said.
That made her turn finally. Her eyes… sharp, questioning, exhausted… met mine. "That sounds like a dangerous plan."
"It's the only one that has ever worked for me."
