Chapter 25 - Chapter 25

Footsteps could be heard approaching, Iristel was about to get up, but Mart put his arms around her waist, and whispered to her:

-I don't care if everyone knows that you are mine.

Iristel was happy, the rest of the doubts she felt disappeared with those words.

"You were the first, at least for me, not for this body; that's why I'm going to protect you," Mart thought, the moment he saw the door to the infirmary open.

When opened the door, Professor Aneth entered, she was wearing a white robe, and pastel colored clothes, besides, just like Asfil she had a mark on her forehead, but Professor Aneth's was a horizontal line, the teacher with dull brown wavy hair and a tanned complexion, let out a chuckle while thinking, "yes, they look like friends".

-You seem to be better now, but you still need to rest, your body suffered severe fatigue from the excessive use of potions and magical artifacts. -Professor Aneth said as she sat down in front of a desk on which there were some books to immediately start writing, but shortly after she stopped and told them with some malice and resignation:

-Couple of lovebirds, this is no place to express your love to each other, get out of here.

Outside the infirmary, Iristel was adjusting Mart's tie, kissed him and then told him with mischief and sparkling eyes:

-You still owe me. I'll collect it all together when you recover.

After those words, Iristel handed Mart the tunic that went over her uniform and walked away. Mart just smiled, as he watched her walk away, but his smile disappeared with each step he took.

"I think I should go to my room and keep resting," he thought as he felt every muscle fiber screaming.

[Recommendation: keep your usual routine, just avoid using demonic energy, it will strengthen your body.]

"Sometimes, you look like you want to provoke me," Mart thought as he walked through the halls, now heading for the library.

In a dark room with a large table, with candles around it, attendants entered for each of the 12 seats.

The assistants, they were not assistants, they were professors who were teaching the second year students, among them were, Professor Drian, Professor Helen, Professor Aneth, and 9 other professors, however, the professors did not exchange words with each other, they just placed some crystals on the corresponding places.

Shortly afterwards a man entered the hall and with a subtle snap of his fingers brought light into that gloomy room, which now looked like one of the luxurious halls of a great palace.

Every step of that man on the golden tiles echoed in the hall whose hanging lights made of magic gems illuminated just enough; the professors did not dare to look at him, they were frightened.

The man with grayish skin, white hair that looked like braids but were actually red-eyed snakes, eyes whose iris was golden and the sclera red, white eyebrows and long white beard, wore a black wizard's robe with golden colors containing demonic symbols, sat in the main seat.

All the teachers felt oppressed by the presence of Persec Merliano, the warlock of death, as he was nicknamed more than 400 years ago, who was nothing more than the director of the Academy and a demon at the top of the seventh rank, a powerful monster feared by humans themselves.

Professor Helen was trying to appear calm, but she feared punishment from the principal for failing to report her condition; in that tense moment she remembered Mart's words, "you will be mine," then thought, "he's insolent."

Executives, do not waste my time!

A words from the director that made all the teachers present sweat cold, then the gems glowed, and on the seats appeared humanoid silhouettes with no definite shape.

Mart arrived at the library, immediately approached Emy to hand her the book on the decline of the demon empire.

-Did you like it? -Emy asked in a muffled voice.

-Yes, it was very helpful. -Mart replied, looking pleased, especially when he remembered that it was that book that made him keep his guard up.

-I'm glad, not many people appreciate it. -Emy said.

-Everyone prefers stories focused on one side's perspective, that must be it. -Mart replied, looking thoughtful, then added in a kindly tone. -But I owe you a lot for lending me that book, let me know anytime if there's anything I can do for you.

Emy nodded, registered the return of the book, and then showed him 4 books on spells and curses. -You told me to recommend some books to you, these are the best for a demon sorcerer at the beginning level. They will help you lay the foundation.

"Wow, she tried really hard did she like me? If so, I won't let it go, but not yet," Mart smiled and said gratefully:

-Thanks, I'll take these 2 and then come back for the others.

Emy took a deep breath, then replied in her muffled voice that couldn't disguise that she was nervous:

-That's okay; I'll register the loan of the books.

-Emy, do you know which student inside the prodigies got hurt? -asked Mart who wanted to know more about the rumors.

-They say it was Meleic Asfent, who used a treasure his father gave him to protect himself, but as he used it for a long time the treasure charred his arm. -Emy expressed with evident disinterest and handed the books to Marc.

-Thank you, my favorite librarian, I'll be back soon. -Said Evans as he took the books and left the library.

••••

Mart had just left the library and was walking through the halls.

-Why are you hiding your abilities?

"Excuse me?" thought Mart turning in the direction of the captivating female voice that spoke to him. In front of him was the beautiful Nirian, whose beauty made him think: "dressed in that uniform, she makes the uniform look beautiful, she is just too beautiful; I think only an extremely valuable and beautiful jewel would be worthy of her; how difficult life will be for this woman's future husband".
