Chapter 2 - Prologue (Part 2)

Everyone in the room tensed, the implication hanging heavy. "WHO DIDN'T DO THEIR DAILY SERVEILANCE CHECK?!" Donnie snapped.

"I-I WAS BUSY GIVING LEO MORE PAINKILLERS!" Raph panicked.

"BOYS!" Splinter spoke up louder. "It does not matter! We must leave immediately!"

"Where will we go?!" Leo asked, sitting up.

"The hidden city. It is our last chance. Red, carry blue and his IV." Splinter instructed, Raph picking Leo up. "We need to run to the hidden city while it's still dawn."

"No, we won't make it. Not without being spotted. Some humans wake up early, we can't risk it." Leo grunted as Raph moved him, the sting of his wounds nulled but still present. "We can use my portals."

Leo summoned one of his swords, moving his arm weakly, trying to make a circle. Leo groaned as a small portal appeared. He hadn't been that bad at portals since he first got the sword. Mikey stuck his head through the portal, pulling his head back out after a few moments. "It goes to Donnie's old room." He frowned.

"Run it is." Donnie typed on his wrist watch. "Sheldon, is the tank moved into position?"

"Dude the tank is still in the subway." Sheldon said nonchalantly. "Couldn't get it outta the goo before the fuzz showed up."

"WHAT?! WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME?! MY BABY IS PROBABLY BEING SCRAPPED FOR PARTS!" Donnie panicked. "What about the shell hogs?!"

"Yeah, got those! Buuuuut we're outta spare tires and both have at least one flat." Sheldon replied, his propellors shrugging.

"DIDN'T I TELL YOU TO RUN MAINTENANCE ON THEM?!" Donnie yelled louder.

"No." Sheldon said bluntly.

Donnie opened his mouth to probably deny it, when Splinter interrupted. "QUIET! It does not matter anymore! They will know we have found the camera and they will be coming here any moment! Purple, is there any other way we can get there other than on foot?!"

"Do you think I constantly make transportation inventions every day?! You're correct but all of them have either been taken by the authorities or destroyed during the Kraang invasion." Donnie replied, furiously typing on his wrist tech.

"Then we have to run." Raph insisted. "They might be able to track us with some kind of findy vehicle tech thing."

"Global Positioning System?" Donnie corrected.

"Guys! We need to hurry, okay?" Leo said. Leo and his brothers climbed up through the sewers, Splinter hanging onto Raph's back and holding Leo's IV stand in his free hand. Mikey opened the sewer cover, looking around.

"Donnie! There's a camera!" He reported.

"Sheldon, if you will." Donnie said, typing on his wrist once more. Sheldon flew out of the hole, using his claws to disable the camera on the nearby building.

"Wait, why don't we just ride Sheldon?" Leo asked.

"Leonardo I admire your confidence in me but Sheldon 12.0 cannot carry any of us. I have yet to build him back to his previous state, due to limited resources." Donnie answered.

The brothers snuck through the night, hiding in shadow and behind buildings. The city of New York had armed guards patrolling the streets, making it more difficult. The brothers headed towards the disguised entrance to the hidden city outside of Hueso's restaurant. "Stop!" Leo whispered quickly just as they were about to make a run for it. He pointed out 4 armed guards, patrolling around the alleyway.

"How are we going to get around them?!" Mikey whispered hurriedly. "It's almost morning, we can't hide in the shadows until they leave! They'll see us!"

The brothers looked around, checking if anyone else had an idea. "We distract them." Splinter answered. "Orange, how fast can you be?"

"As fast as you need me pops!" Mikey beamed with pride.

Splinter pointed to an alleyway opposite of Hueso's. "Sneak over there and make noise. A lot of it. When the guards come, you need to get back over here… Just in case, blue, can you make portals yet?"

Leo summoned one of his swords, waving it in a circle. His arm was slightly stronger, although still shaking. He made a portal the size of his leg. "Not so well." Leo groaned again. He hated this. Making portals was his thing! How was he supposed to portal-chop someone when his body was too weak to make an actual portal?

"That would work!" Mikey offered. "I can go in my shell to fit through!" He climbed up the walls of the buildings around them, jumping between them until he was out of sight.

"Sons, when Orange distracts the guards, we need to make a break for the dumpster." Splinter instructed.

"Wait, where is Sheldon? Why couldn't he do this?" Leo asked.

"Sheldon is currently grabbing things from my lab. We can't let humans take the tech there, it's all we have left." Donnie answered. He pulled out his tablet, typing on it. The tablet displayed from Sheldon's view, looking around the lab. Suddenly, loud noises came from the alleyway across from Hueso's. It sounded like Mikey was banging a trashcan lid against the wall. It stopped almost as suddenly as it started, Mikey leaping across buildings to make it back to them. Donnie jumped from the sound, the tablet slipping from his hands. Leo and his brothers ran for the dumpster, pulling the lever to open the door.

Donnie struggled to catch his tablet, his hands hitting the tablet causing it to flip around in the air. The tablet fell, with a CRACK! Echoing off the walls. The guards turned. "HEY! STOP RIGHT THERE!" Donnie ran for the entrance to the hidden city, panicking. The brothers leapt in, the door shutting as soon as they all got through.

The guards approached the dumpster, examining it. Why did the bottom of a dumpster have hinges?
