Chapter 19 - Before Departure

"All the thug soldiers and archers, prepare to move out. The rest of you stay here. Hmm! Get ready to move out in two hours. I need to review some information here. Come find me when the time comes."

"Yes, my lord!"

Sas Ting took the order and left. Mako put down the unfinished document in his hand and, somewhat impatiently, walked toward the two offices next door.

After seeing his new mission, Mako was even more eager to go and take a look at the information in the other two recruitment offices because what he needed most now was high-level troops.

And he also really wanted to know what this special building would mutate into after coming to this world. In the game, it could randomly summon troops of levels 4-6.

Also, he wondered if he could summon heroes because Mako desperately needed a hero to lead the troops and manage the castle.

If he went out to conquer the Westeros Continent in the future and the enemy successfully attacked his home, then all his efforts would be in vain.

Thinking of the terrifying situation when Daenerys was backstabbed, Mako felt a little scared. He didn't have any dragons, and even if the Griffon Fortress was incredibly magical, it couldn't withstand the siege of hundreds of warships.

So, although he was short on funds, Mako still wanted to find out what was going on. Of course, it would be even better if he could summon a beautiful female hero.

However, all of this would have to wait until he went inside and took a look. With this excited feeling, Mako walked into the Refugee Recruitment Office.

The person in charge inside was also a young man. He had brown hair. Seeing Mako come in, he stood up and respectfully saluted Mako, saying:

"Esteemed Lord! Greetings! I knew you would come. That's what our intelligence indicated. However, due to the influence of the world's rules, many things have changed, but you can still take a look."

With that, he handed a scroll to Mako. Mako reached out and took it, and the scroll turned into specks of light that entered Mako's mind, and a special page immediately popped up.

"Ding! Congratulations to the host, you have now officially activated the Refugee Camp mercenary summoning mode. You can sign contracts with some of the exiles from the Ashan World here and have them become your soldiers. Would you like to sign?"

Mako didn't rush to click confirm but instead continued reading through the information page. He finally understood the origin of the Refugee Camp, this special building.

It turned out that in the Ashan World, some creatures would often be exiled to the spatial crevices because of "magic accidents" or other reasons.

This was a terrifying place, filled with spatial turbulence that would turn weaker creatures to ash instantly.

Only the most powerful beings could possibly survive, but the great Asha, unwilling to see her children suffer such torment, used her immense power to open one spatial rift after another to the outside.

She hoped these suffering children might be fortunate enough to return to the Ashan World, though only a few would truly make it "home".

The Refugee Camp served to connect with these Spatial Rifts, receiving these powerful beings.

Therefore, the Refugee Camp could periodically produce level 4-6 creatures from eight different races. However, due to world rules:

Mako could only sign contracts with one creature from each race, besides the human race, and each race only had three slots available. Only when a contracted creature died, could he recruit another creature of the same race and level.

Although the number of recruits was small, it immediately improved Mako's mood. In Mako's view, as long as he had something, that was enough, and he didn't care about anything else.

Moreover, the level 4, 5, and 6 units of other races had always been extremely powerful in the game, especially those beautiful, powerful units. Just thinking about them made him drool.

"Wait, wait, did something weird sneak in here!"

Mako hurriedly wiped away his drool, pulling his wandering thoughts back. But when he saw the introduction that followed, his blood pressure instantly spiked.

"Note: Due to the restrictions of world rules, the abilities of some creatures will be weakened or directly disappear. However, the system will provide the host with corresponding compensation, and the summoning cost for creatures will be 10 times the original cost.

Note: Please note, accidents may occur during the summoning process, leading to the death of creatures in spatial turbulence. Good luck!"

After reading the system interface, Mako looked at the Refugee Recruitment Office worker who was gloating there with a somewhat expressionless face.

He hadn't expected these powerful units to be weakened. After the priest Caspar-Ed appeared, Mako had asked him whether he could use "Holy Light Judgement" (the priest's ranged attack method, self-compiled) remotely.

The answer he received at the time was that he couldn't use it and could only use close-range attack methods. Mako had thought it was because his castle building level was low. Now, looking back, it was all due to the influence of world rules.

"This damn Low-Magic World."

Mako muttered to himself.

The young man at the Refugee Recruitment Office was also quick-witted, immediately reacting and raising his hands above his head in surrender. He said, "My Lord! Don't be alarmed! It has nothing to do with me! I'm just the person in charge here. After all, everything here belongs to you. Since the contract has this requirement, I believe it must have its meaning! Don't you think so?"

Mako thought carefully and felt this guy had a point.

"It's just! Damn it! I'm just a little pissed off! I really want to punch someone!"

With that, he glared at the guy in front of him, considering if he should collect some interest from him first.

"My Lord! Why don't you sign this contract first! Otherwise, it might cause some problems. Aren't you going to take a look next door?"

However, Mako didn't want to let him off. He clicked "Yes" on the interface, and a scroll made of golden light appeared in front of him.

Beside him floated a golden quill. Mako reached out and gently grasped it. Holding the pen, Mako felt like it was real.

Without time to dwell on it, Mako quickly signed his name on the scroll. Upon completion, the scroll instantly disintegrated into a shower of light particles.

Next, Mako saw a two-way portal appear behind the desk in the room. Inside the portal, purple temporal energy continuously flashed.

Behind the dazzling light, a human-shaped shadow flickered, seemingly ready to break through the gate and appear on this side.

At this moment, the nimble person in charge walked slowly to the front of the portal. He reached into the energy light and pulled out a scroll, just as he was about to read it aloud.

Mako jumped in front of him, his right hand grabbing his neck. He roared at him:

"Than! k! You! Young man! I'm going out first!"

After saying this, he ignored the young man, who was nearly choked and whose ears were buzzing.

Instead, he walked to the portal, gently touching the magical carvings on it. He spoke to the energy gate,

"Wait for me! Next time, I'll definitely bring you back to this world!"

Whether it was an illusion or not, Mako seemed to feel the figure behind him nod.

With that, Mako strode to the door. The helplessness of not being able to recruit powerful units was unbearable. At this moment, the young man behind him gasped, saying,

"Cough! Cough! I was wrong! Lord! Remember, the portal passage changes on the 5th of every month, don't forget!"

Mako waved his hand, indicating he had heard. Then, he walked to the Hero Recruitment Office. He felt resistance when he suddenly opened the door.

He gently pushed the door open and saw a young man lying on the ground, clutching his head and groaning. Mako guessed he had been eavesdropping at the door, not expecting Mako to open it so suddenly.

Seeing Mako turn his gaze towards him, the fellow scrambled to his feet and bowed to Mako,

"Lord! Harol greets you! Are you here to check on the hero recruitment situation?"

Mako slightly turned his body and nodded, asking, "Yes! Right, I forgot to ask for the names of the three of you, it was really rude of me, there were just so many things happening today!"

Harol replied to Mako, "Lord! The person in charge of the Refugee Recruitment Office is Nan Men, and the person in charge of the Intelligence Department is Bond!"

In the following time, this young man named Harol detailed the relevant information and usage methods of the Hero Recruitment Office for Mako.

First of all, the heroes in the game would not appear in this world, and because of the restrictions of the world's rules, they would also lose the opportunity to learn level 3 magic.

Harol guessed that this might be because of the scarcity of magic elements, and that these heroes were only subordinates of Mako, and could not grow to Mako's level.

Secondly, the heroes provided by the recruitment office were just a kind of item, which could allow Mako's Oathbound Followers to awaken special abilities.

Of course, they also had the opportunity to level up, and the skills after leveling up were all operated by Mako himself.

Finally, Harol told Mako that he could only choose heroes from factions of the same race, and the only benefit of this setting was that the price wouldn't change.

The price of each hero statue was 2500 gold, and after the heroes appeared, they would automatically learn Knight Skill 3, comprehend Beginner Offense Technique, and their special abilities.

This was the best news Mako had heard today, but the old saying still held true: he had no money!

Just as Mako was still thinking about what to ask, Sas Ting ran up to the third floor, and after saluting Mako, said:

"My Lord! We are ready to depart!"
