Chapter 3 - 003: The Demon Fighting a Dog for Food (Requesting Data)

The experiment was a success.

Lin was in a very pleasant mood.

A smile unconsciously graced his lips.

He got up, returned to the master bedroom on the second floor, took out his pajamas from the closet, and went to the second-floor bathroom to take a shower.

After his bath, he turned off the lights and went straight to sleep.

Because of the Clawed Evil Spirit, he hadn't slept for two days.

Although awakening the Seven Kingships had greatly strengthened his body and mind, sweeping away all fatigue.

But he just wanted to sleep.

The night passed in a flash.

The next morning, just after nine o'clock.

Sunlight streamed into the room through the gaps in the blinds.

In bed, Lin slowly opened his eyes.

A hint of drowsiness appeared in them.

Blinking a few times, Lin got out of bed.

He went to the window and pressed the controller.

As the blinds slowly rose.

The scenery outside gradually came into view.

"Looks like a day full of hope."

Interlacing his fingers and raising his hands, Lin squinted his eyes slightly and murmured as he gave a comfortable stretch.

He had slept until he woke up naturally.

He felt an unprecedented sense of ease.

Leaving the window half-open, Lin turned to his closet to pick out some clothes, then headed to the bathroom for a shower.

He already had a plan for the day.

He would go out for a walk.

To try and unlock a few more entries in his Codex.

Preferably, he'd run into some more evil spirits.

Although the Clawed Evil Spirit was already dealt with.

He now felt the urge to kill other evil spirits as well.

Because in his view, there was no such thing as a good evil spirit.

Otherwise, why would they be called evil spirits, and not good spirits?

Nor guardian spirits.

Once an evil spirit, always an evil spirit.

The only good evil spirit is a dead one.

About half an hour later.

Neatly dressed, Lin left the house.

He only brought the three-plus-one essentials with him.

Phone, keys, wallet.

And his Bluetooth earbuds.

Leaving his residence, Lin randomly chose a direction and walked unhurriedly down the street.

He secretly circulated his Aura.

Leaking a small amount of life energy.

Powers like Aura, magical energy, and mana could all be considered manifestations derived from life force.

Evil spirits are attracted to strong life forces.

So he was using his own life energy to bait a trap.

But he didn't dare reveal too much.

Because an overwhelmingly strong life energy would act as a threat to weaker evil spirits.

Time drifted by like a gentle breeze brushing through a pedestrian's hair.

Half an hour passed in the blink of an eye.

By baiting the trap, Lin finally attracted an evil spirit hiding in a dark alley.

He released his spiritual perception.

Its aura was about one-fifth as strong as the Clawed Evil Spirit.

Clearly, it was a low-level evil spirit.

Its appearance was more human-like.

Its eye sockets were empty, devoid of eyeballs.

Its skin was dark and wrinkled, like a desiccated corpse.

It was wearing a business suit.

It was likely an evil spirit that was once some corporate slave.

Through his spiritual perception, Lin could sense the creature's malice and its craving for his life energy.

He didn't rush to close the net.

Lin continued to change locations.

The Corporate Slave Evil Spirit followed close by, constantly muttering:

"Sir, can you see me?"

"Can you see, sir?"

Lin ignored it, his expression unchanged.

Before he knew it, it was noon.

After wandering around all morning, Lin decided to close the net and went to a forested mountain area in the outskirts of Oborozuka City, Saitama.

He was now being followed by thirteen evil spirits.

Unfortunately, they were all low-level.

Once he found a suitable spot, Lin stopped and slowly turned around.

He casually slipped his hands into his pockets.

"It's time for you all to be reincarnated."

"Hmm...?"

All the evil spirits were stunned for a moment.

Then, black energy began to rise from their bodies, their faces growing more hideous.

So the 'prey' could see them!

Just as the evil spirits were about to swarm and devour Lin.

The surrounding temperature skyrocketed.

The power of the Red Kingship was unleashed.

Clusters of flames materialized out of thin air.

Like shooting stars, they shot towards the thirteen evil spirits.

"Ahhh..."

Engulfed in flames, the evil spirits had barely let out a scream before they dissolved into wisps of black smoke.

*Snap.* Lin snapped his fingers.

The surrounding flames vanished instantly.

Seeing that all the evil spirits were annihilated, Lin opened the Codex of All Things.

Thirteen new pages had been unlocked.

A quick glance revealed that these low-level evil spirits were all White-grade.

The rewards were all energy as well.

But it wasn't Medium Energy; it was all Small Energy.

Adhering to the principle that 'even a mosquito is still meat,' Lin collected and absorbed all of this pure energy.

Then, his brow furrowed slightly.

The increase in his Aura was barely a tenth of what it had been before.

This meant these evil spirits were each worth about one-tenth of a Clawed Evil Spirit.

"Tsk, so weak..."

Lin curled his lip slightly.

He looked with some disdain at the spot where the evil spirits had been.

Then he left without hesitation.

Although he had gained something this morning, it clearly wasn't much.

In a word: disappointing.

A thought even flashed through Lin's mind.

If only the evil spirits in this crossover-anime world were as common as they are in *Mieruko-chan*.

He left the forested mountain area.

Lin kept his exposed life energy at the level of a normal person, no longer baiting his trap.

From now on, he'd just leave it to fate.

More than half an hour later.

In Itabashi Ward, while passing through a relatively secluded street in a residential area, Lin was drawn in by a commotion.

"Let go! Let go of me!"

"Damn you, how dare you steal my favorite melon pan!"

"You're just a dog..."

Following the sound, Lin approached, a strange look on his face.

Not far away, a girl with short red hair and a black bat-shaped hair accessory was fighting with a dog over something.

That's right, fighting with a dog.

At the moment, they seemed evenly matched.

"Why does this scene give me such a sense of déjà vu?"

Lin narrowed his eyes slightly, lost in thought.

He felt like he had seen it somewhere before.

His enhanced brain worked rapidly, searching for the relevant memory.

Soon, he remembered.

Kurumizawa Satanichia McDowell.

That was the name of the girl before him.

From *Gabriel DropOut*.

Don't be fooled by how she can't even seem to win against a single Samoyed right now.

In reality, she isn't human.

She is a demon (by race) from the Demon World.

If she were to use her demonic power, forget a dog, she could probably obliterate a large truck with a single punch.

"Demons and angels..."

After recalling Satanichia's true identity, Lin's understanding of this grand crossover-anime world deepened.

Demons and the Demon World.

Angels and the Celestial Realm.

Spinoff worldviews with mythological backgrounds are rarely weak.

Lin suddenly thought of Gabriel's older sister, Zelel.

Although he didn't know much about her.

But from what he knew, Zelel seemed to possess the terrifying power to destroy a world with a flick of her finger.

Powerful, without a doubt.

Although the individual combat strength in *Gabriel DropOut* is high, Lin wasn't worried about his safety.

Don't be fooled by how Gabriel in her original world threatens to blow the Horn of the Apocalypse at the drop of a hat.

In reality, she'd never actually blow it.

And even if she did, it wouldn't be a big problem.

If she really dared to blow it, Lin figured Gabriel would probably be dragged off by her sister Zelel for a 'lesson.'

Rather than worrying about Gabriel.

He might as well worry about the evil spirits.

But Lin wasn't worried about them either.

Before his golden finger appeared, he had treated the evil spirits as a grave threat.

But for him now...

Evil spirits?

Heh, just strays on the side of the road.
