Chapter 26 - They won’t see me break

The beating had started all because I refused to be thrown around like an idiot by Madam Ruth and her pack of cruel minions.

I despised the way she mocked me, all because Damien had handed her the power to trample me under her feet. It had all begun a few hours earlier, when the slaves were assigned to wash the concubines' clothes. While the others were granted the privilege of using the laundry machines, I was singled out, forbidden from touching them.

Madam Ruth had ordered me to wash everything with my bare hands. "You do not need to join them using the machine because you will not need it. Wash the clothes with your hands," she declared coldly, pointing toward the towering pile of dresses before me.

The heap was massive, far larger than what had been assigned to the others who had access to the machines.
