Chapter 21 - Ch.21

Just as she was about to speak, the rustling from outside grew louder.

The wind howled like hundreds of people screaming. The little girl's heart tightened. "The Mother of Ghouls and the infant spirits have found us!"

"Don't worry," Luo Guang said.

As soon as he spoke, a black, ghost-like figure in the form of a Buddha appeared on the wind. The temple doors blew open, and decorations rattled as a great number of black infant spirits crawled toward them from all directions. The scent of living people was exceptionally delicious to them. The Mother of Ghouls stared at Luo Guang, while the infant spirits focused on Yayoi Hozuki.

"What are your abilities?" Yayoi quickly asked, thinking there might be a chance to break through the encirclement. "My sister, Eiko, is waiting at the bottom of the mountain. If we can just get to the car, we can escape."

"No need," Luo Guang replied.

A black wind swirled around him. It wasn't ordinary wind, but a miasma filled with resentment. If a normal person stayed in it for too long, they would have trouble breathing, and their minds would be driven to madness.

"It will be over in a moment."

In Yayoi's eyes, Luo Guang simply walked forward. The approaching infant spirits reached out to grab him, but before they could touch him, they were dispelled by a golden light. Luo Guang raised an eyebrow. Though it was just an experiment, he was surprised to see how effective the Power of Light was. Compared to curses and devils, these evil spirits were lucky not to have been completely destroyed.

"Aooooooo!"

The black Buddha, or the Mother of Ghouls, let out a piercing shriek of rage when she saw her infant spirits being harmed. Although she had become corrupted, the Mother of Ghouls still had an instinct not to harm children. But upon seeing Luo Guang casually eliminate hundreds of her infant spirits, she let out a scream and lunged at him. A dark shadow behind her trailed dozens of black tails.

But in an instant, a Light Spear materialized in Luo Guang's hand. He shot it at the Mother of Ghouls like a javelin. The tails behind her attempted to block the attack, but they were pierced through after only a second or two. The spear, still full of momentum, went straight through her heart. The powerful force pushed her back, and the tip of the spear penetrated over three feet into the ground, pinning her in place.

As the Light Spear flew, it created a vacuum, and its residual energy tore apart countless infant spirits. The area was instantly cleared. The miasma in the sky was torn open, revealing the bright moonlight.

Despite their lack of intelligence, the infant spirits saw Luo Guang's brutality and instinctively fled. However, Luo Guang didn't give them a chance to escape.

The Light Spear pinned to the Mother of Ghouls began to glow intensely, like a searchlight. Then, with a loud bang, the concentrated Power of Light exploded, and a holy shockwave swept across the area like a tsunami. The bodies of countless infant spirits were instantly shredded.

When the explosion subsided, Yayoi was astonished to find she was completely unharmed. The power of the blast had been so immense she thought she would die. But not only was she fine, not even a blade of grass on the ground was affected.

As the smoke cleared, Luo Guang frowned slightly. "She's surprisingly resilient. She's not dead yet."
