Chapter 23 - Ch.23

While both Sona Sitri and Tsubaki Shinra were shocked, they didn't question how Luo Guang had acquired the ability. Luo Guang didn't try to hide it either. If they were this surprised that a human could cultivate holy power, they would be even more shocked later on when Kiba Yuuto, a devil, could wield a holy sword.

Sona was a sophisticated, high-ranking devil, so she quickly composed herself. She decided she would ask her sister about it later and then refocused her attention on the Mother of Ghouls.

"By the way, why did you come to this place?" Sona asked the little girl.

"I wanted to lift the curse on my sister," Yayoi Hozuki said calmly, speaking with a composure and logic that belied her age. She was neither arrogant nor servile, an attitude many adults lacked. After all, the first time ordinary people discovered the existence of devils, they would react as if the world was falling apart.

"A curse?" This question immediately stopped Sona from asking why she hadn't turned to a devil for help. Curses were easy for devils to cast, but difficult to break.

"Are you alone?" Sona asked.

"Yes, my sister Eiko is a normal human," Yayoi said, lifting her backpack to show them her crowbar. "I also have this."

The dark-styled little girl's statement left the two devils speechless. They could tell that Yayoi had some special abilities. In the human world, besides Sacred Gear wielders, there were also people with special abilities like exorcists, sorcerers, spirit mediums, mages, and psychics.

After a detailed inquiry, Sona discovered that the little girl was a wild sorcerer. Her courage and talent immediately made Sona want to recruit her.

"I might be able to reverse her fall," Luo Guang said.

While they were talking, Luo Guang had been crouching down, studying the Mother of Ghouls. The ghost, now barely alive after being pierced, could barely even turn over. As she saw Luo Guang up close, her eyes filled with only fear.

Hearing Luo Guang's words, Sona instinctively looked at him. "You have a way to reverse the Mother of Ghouls' fall?"

Both she and Tsubaki Shinra looked doubtful. The Mother of Ghouls had been a mess for decades, and she herself had been completely helpless to fix it, only being able to maintain the barrier to keep humans away. It wasn't that she didn't believe in Luo Guang, but if the Underworld couldn't do anything about it, could he?

"I can try, but if I succeed, I'll need extra compensation," Luo Guang said seriously. He would help, but not for free. His relationship with Sona was one of cooperation, not as close as the one he had with Rias.

"You can," Sona agreed immediately. The Mother of Ghouls was a mess, but she couldn't be killed directly. Otherwise, the souls of the deceased infants would have nowhere to go and could easily turn into more dangerous evil spirits. If she could be restored to her senses and resume her duty, the souls would be able to find peace.

Luo Guang nodded slightly, then activated his Immortal Aura and used a technique to remove a curse. The corruption of the infant spirits was not much different from a curse. Furthermore, the main reason for her state was similar to going berserk.

Luo Guang gathered his vital essence and spread his Immortal Art throughout the Mother of Ghouls' body. The ghost immediately began to tremble as if she were being electrocuted. Sona instinctively wanted to stop him, but out of trust for Luo Guang, she held back. Soon, the Mother of Ghouls' trembling became less intense, and the black miasma on her body slowly dissipated.

"It actually worked?" Sona's face was filled with disbelief.

A little later, after the last wisp of miasma on the Mother of Ghouls' body had disappeared, Luo Guang stood up again, a thin layer of sweat on his forehead. After all, he wasn't yet proficient in Immortal Arts, and the curse-removing method was something he had figured out on his own. If the curse had been any stronger, he would have been powerless.

"He actually succeeded," Tsubaki Shinra said, her face full of shock. She was also shocked by the power Luo Guang had just used.

"Was that... Immortal Arts you used just now?" Having been born into a family of sorcerers, she was more sensitive to the powers of Eastern factions like sorcery and Immortal Arts. Seeing that Luo Guang was finished, she finally spoke up.

"Yes," Luo Guang admitted with a nod. There was no need to hide it. Immortal Arts was something that humans could learn, but it was more difficult for them than for yokai or gods.

Hearing this, Sona Sitri and Tsubaki Shinra were in complete disbelief. It was impressive for a normal person to master even one ability. But Luo Guang had already shown them magical power, the Power of Light, and now Immortal Arts. How could one person master three different powers? Compared to him, perhaps only Sairaorg could be considered his equal among the younger generation of the Underworld.

Sona's eyes lit up. If she could get him to join her... then she would need to strengthen their relationship even more in the future.
