Chapter 170 - Chapter 171 The Hateful "Flame"

Chapter 171: The Detestable 'Blaze'

"Oh no!" Luo En's face turned incredibly solemn. He looked at Danitz, who was still counting money, and growled, "Something's happened! We need to retreat now!"

"Meow!"

Almost at the same moment he stood up, Lachi, who had been pretending to sleep, also sensed danger. It instantly leaped onto Luo En's shoulder.

Without any hesitation, the two immediately ran towards outside the house.

However, after only a few steps, Luo En seemed to remember something and abruptly turned back.

"Calamity!"

He quickly pulled a "Burst" charm and some special spiritual materials from his pocket, stuffing them all into the most inconspicuous corner of the room. He then covered them with a tattered blanket, creating a simple, hair-trigger trap.

Only after completing this did he immediately turn around and, taking Danitz with him, sprint towards the city.

Damn it! Have we been discovered? Impossible…

Luo En thought rapidly to himself as he ran.

I used divination myself and confirmed there were no flaws with the body. No matter how formidable Tracy is, it's impossible for her to detect a problem so quickly!

He couldn't figure out which part had gone wrong. After all, it had only been a short while since Alger left with the corpse.

It shouldn't have been exposed so quickly!

"Shit! Did the Disease Maiden chase us?!" Danitz also snapped out of his initial daze, cursing under his breath as he ran.

"Very likely," Luo En said in a deep voice. "Judging by the intensity of the Calamity I sensed, the person coming is definitely someone far more powerful than us."

"You mean… all my money is gone?!" Danitz's face showed an expression of profound heartache.

He looked at Luo En, panting, and asked, "Brando, haven't you already advanced? Can the two of us find an opportunity to take them down together?"

"Are you crazy from wanting money?" Luo En cursed at him. "First, we don't even know if it's just Tracy. Even if it is, with our current strength, we are no match for her."

Luo En had a clear understanding of his current strength. A Sequence 6 Calamity Priest's core abilities were mostly support and interference, with extremely limited direct combat capability. Aside from Beyonder abilities, in terms of physical fitness alone, based on his previous experimental comparisons, he was only about as strong as a Sequence 7 Danitz in a strength contest.

If Captain Edwina were here, perhaps we could stage a reverse hunt, but with just Danitz, forget it…

"Then what do we do?!" Danitz asked.

"The Calamity is still some distance from us," Luo En said quickly, observing his surroundings. "We still have time. Let's head to the safe house first!"

In the night, Tracy's figure appeared like a phantom, silently materializing before the dilapidated civilian house Alger had mentioned.

She raised her hand, her fingertips moving slightly. An invisible "Disease" aura, carrying a faint sweet scent, spread silently like a tide into the interior of the house.

However, a moment later, she frowned slightly.

There were no signs of life inside.

She didn't lower her guard. Countless transparent, almost invisible threads shot from her fingertips, weaving through the cracks in the doors and windows. Still, there was nothing unusual.

After confirming there was no ambush, she no longer hesitated. Her entire being transformed into a black afterimage, and with a "crash," she directly smashed through the window, breaking in.

The room was empty, with only a lingering scent, a mix of several people's auras, not yet completely dispersed.

She quickly searched the room and found some residual spiritual traces of ritual magic, but no one was there.

Could it be… they ran away?!

Tracy clenched her teeth, her nails digging deeply into her palms.

Just as she was about to take out her vanity mirror to perform a divination on the spot, a strong premonition of danger suddenly surged!

There's a trap!

Without thinking, she immediately mobilized all her power, leaning back and flying out of the broken window again at an incredible angle!

Almost at the same moment her body left the room.

"Boom!!!"

A dazzling flash of fire erupted from the corner of the room, followed by a deafening, violent explosion!

Flames and shockwaves gushed from the windows and doorway, completely engulfing the dilapidated civilian house. Wood splinters, rubble, and flames intertwined, forming a small-scale disaster.

Tracy stabilized herself in mid-air, landing gracefully on a distant rooftop. She gazed at the raging inferno before her, her beautiful face filled with unspeakable fury.

"Blaze…"

She squeezed the word out, syllable by syllable, through gritted teeth. On the other side, Mithor went through a lot of trouble to finally, silently transport the unconscious Alger and the heavy suitcase containing Brando's corpse back to the Black Death.

As soon as he returned to the ship, he immediately followed the Captain's orders and tied Alger up with the strongest ropes.

"Third Mate, this fellow is…?" a Sailor helping out couldn't help but ask curiously, looking at the unconscious man on the ground.

"A greedy and foolish fellow," Mithor replied coldly, then commanded, "Hang him upside down from the main mast."

"He's not to be taken down until the Captain returns."

"Yes!" The Sailor dared not ask more and immediately dragged Alger away.

After dealing with Alger, Mithor's gaze fell upon the black suitcase resting quietly on the deck.

This box posed a dilemma for him.

From the Captain's reaction when she saw this corpse in the warehouse earlier, he could guess that the deceased's identity was definitely extraordinary to her.

This corpse certainly couldn't be treated like ordinary cargo and simply thrown into the hold.

Should I… put it in the Captain's room?

Mithor stood at the Captain's cabin door, carrying the box, hesitant.

No one was allowed to enter her room without the Captain's permission. This was a well-known rule on the ship.

Just as he was caught between two minds, a familiar figure came from the other end of the corridor.

Mithor recognized her as the Captain's personal maid.

The blonde maid also saw him and the ominous large suitcase at his feet. She stepped forward and asked in an unfriendly tone:

"Why are you sneaking around? What are you trying to do?"

"It's the Captain's order…"

Mithor, having been kicked off the ship, was not well-informed about the recent situation, and apparently, he was unaware of someone's decline in status.

After some thought, he briefly recounted the events of this incident to her.

Unexpectedly, after listening to his account, the blonde maid's face not only showed no trace of fear but instead bloomed with a genuine, incredibly joyful smile.

"So that's how it is," she said lightly, her eyes sparkling with schadenfreude.

She glanced at the suitcase and proactively said to Mithor, "Since you're in such a dilemma, why don't you leave this thing to me?"

"You?" Mithor was a little surprised.

"Of course," the blonde maid nodded, stating matter-of-factly, "I am the Captain's personal maid and can freely enter her room.

It's my duty to put this 'important item' where it belongs, isn't it?"

My task was just to bring the person and the corpse back. Subsequent handling, entrusting it to the person closest to the Captain, is also reasonable and logical—Mithor thought.

"Alright then…"
