Chapter 20 - Hunger (3)

The battlefield was the same scarred valley where Goku and Vegeta had once clashed for the very first time, years ago. The ground still bore faint reminders of that legendary duel — jagged cliffs split in half, craters filled with weeds, and stone surfaces smoothed by countless energy waves. Tonight, under the pale moonlight, it would witness another history-defining fight.

The Z Fighters and everyone else were watching from afar. Bulma recorded the fight using insect-like creatures and displayed it for better viewing.

The Z fighters just used ki sense.

The four warriors stood opposite one another, the air itself heavy with suppressed ki.

"Man," Goku laughed, scratching his cheek. "It feels kinda nostalgic being here again. Only this time, we're not enemies." He shot Gohan a grin. "Ready to show your old man how far you've come?"

Gohan smirked back, his eyes sharper now than they had been in his youth. "You'll see, Dad. I've had a lot of practice fighting for survival."

"Alright," Goku said, cracking his neck as a wide grin spread across his face. "Let's see what you boys have learned. "Don't hold back, okay? It's a 2 vs. 2."

Vegeta crossed his arms, his smirk sharp and prideful. "Hmph. I expect no less. Trunks, you'd better not embarrass me."

Trunks smirked back, though there was a nervous flutter in his chest. This is it, Father, I'll show you just how much I've grown.

Beside him, Gohan took a calm breath, his eyes narrowing with focus. Dad, you taught me to always aim higher. Today, I'll prove that I've continued to move forward.

The standoff ended in a heartbeat. The air cracked as both pairs launched forward.

Gohan lunged first, testing his father's reflexes. Their fists clashed, the impact sending a shockwave that cracked the stone beneath their feet. Goku's smile widened with each exchange.

He's fast. Faster than me in base. Goku thought, ducking a punch and countering with a sweeping kick. Gohan blocked with his forearm and retaliated with a clean elbow to his father's ribs, pushing him back.

Goku clashed with Gohan, their fists colliding with a thunderous boom that sent shockwaves rippling across the battlefield. Pebbles danced across the cracked ground as they exchanged rapid blows, their movements blurring to the human eye.

"Not bad, Gohan!" Goku said cheerfully, though he winced as his son's punch grazed his jaw.

"You're holding back, Dad," Gohan replied, voice calm but his strikes fierce. "I can tell."

Meanwhile, Trunks shot forward against Vegeta. His strikes carried raw power — every punch snapped like thunder, every kick bent the air around them. Vegeta blocked most, deflected some, but when Trunks feinted low and followed with a spinning back kick, it connected, striking Vegeta across the jaw.

Vegeta staggered, more surprised than hurt. His eyes narrowed. Foolish brat. He's letting raw strength guide him. He has some experience, but that won't be enough.

"Not bad," Vegeta muttered before vanishing in a blur, reappearing at Trunks' flank. His fist slammed into his son's side, folding him midair before Trunks righted himself. The two traded blows, their strikes carving miniature craters into the dirt.

Vegeta dodged a fast jab, only to grunt as Trunks pivoted and slammed a solid kick into his ribs.

Vegeta spat out blood.

Trunks was adapting to his combat habits.

"Tch—!" Vegeta stumbled back a step, surprised. The brat's power. It's higher than I expected, even at the base.

Trunks smirked, his heart racing. "What's wrong, Father? Did I catch you off guard?"

Trunks also sees Vegeta's power level, since he made Vegeta bleed

{power level: 54,000,000}

Vegeta's lips curled into a dangerous grin. "Hmph. Don't get cocky. Power alone won't save you." With that, Vegeta surged forward, his strikes becoming sharper, guided by decades of combat instinct.

Trunks quickly realized the gap. Every punch and kick Vegeta threw forced him to adapt. His experience is overwhelming. I can barely keep up with his rhythm! Still, Trunks gritted his teeth, refusing to back down

Gohan's aura flared suddenly, golden flames erupting as he ascended into Super Saiyan Full Power. Goku followed immediately, the valley glowing brighter from their clashing auras.

"Ha! That's more like it," Goku laughed, darting in again. This time, their fists moved too fast for the eye to follow. Sparks of ki burst from each collision, echoing like artillery.

Trunks gritted his teeth. Vegeta was pressing him harder now, reading his movements too easily. He clenched his fists, his aura exploding as he transformed into Super Saiyan Full Power. The shockwave of his transformation tore chunks from the cliffs, forcing Vegeta to shield his face.

"Tch," Vegeta scoffed, smirking despite the pressure. "Fine. You want to play with real power? Then let's go!" His golden aura roared to life as he transformed as well.

Father and son clashed again, the sheer force of their movements shaking the valley.

Vegeta and Trunks' duel flared in golden light as well. Trunks' aura surged brighter, his power skyrocketing. His fist connected squarely with Vegeta's jaw, drawing a grunt of pain.

"Kh—!" Vegeta's eyes narrowed, though pride flickered behind them. "Hmph. Impressive… but let's see you handle this". He retaliated with a devastating kick, raising dirt into Trunks' eyes, disrupting his balance for a second. Vegeta then sent Trunks skidding back, his boots carving trenches into the dirt.

Trunks panted as he spat out blood, his chest heaving, but his eyes gleamed with determination. Even if you're more experienced, Father, I won't lose!

The battlefield became chaos. Energy blasts crisscrossed the sky like meteors. Explosions rippled through the cliffs, sending boulders crashing down.

Gohan and Goku's fists locked again, the force creating a crater beneath their feet. "You've gotten strong, Dad," Gohan said through clenched teeth, "but today. I'll surpass you!" With a sudden burst of speed, he landed a clean uppercut that sent Goku soaring into the air.

Vegeta pressed in close, forcing Trunks on the defensive. Trunks' mind raced. I can't just trade blows forever. I need to make an opening.

Then he saw the opening.

His eyes sharpened. Ki surged into his hands, golden energy forming the familiar triangle stance. "Masenko—HA!"

The beam screamed toward Vegeta, who barely managed to sidestep—but his eyes widened. Goku, just recovering from Gohan's strike, was directly behind him.

—and struck Goku directly in the back.

"Wahh—?!" Goku yelped as the blast exploded, sending him sprawling into the dirt.

"Dad!" Gohan called, but his eyes flashed as he realized the opening. In a blur, he shot forward. His foot connected with Vegeta's chest in a devastating kick. Vegeta, still recovering from dodging, couldn't stop his momentum and was launched skyward, smashing through a cliffside.

The dust settled. Goku groaned, shaking off the smoke. Vegeta climbed out of the rubble, his armor cracked.

Both looked toward their sons — standing tall, golden auras burning brightly, side by side.

Goku rubbed his neck, chuckling despite the soreness. "Heh.looks like we underestimated you two."

Vegeta scowled, his breathing uneven. "Damn it. Shut up, Kakarot, it's your fault."
