Chapter 21 - Hunger (final)

The battlefield was quiet for a moment, nothing but the faint crackling of energy in the air from their earlier clashes. Dust swirled around the four fighters—two generations of Saiyans staring each other down. The cliffs where Goku and Vegeta once fought loomed in the distance, a fitting arena for this clash of fathers and sons.

Goku tilted his head, a small grin tugging at the corner of his lips. They've gotten really strong, stronger than I expected. But we can't let them think this is the limit.

Vegeta crossed his arms, a sharp smirk cutting across his face. "Kakarot, they're too confident. It's time we show them the difference between raw power and true mastery."

Without another word, both fathers let their ki flare. Golden flames of energy erupted, surging higher and higher until the ground itself quaked beneath them. Then, with a crackling sound like lightning ripping through the heavens, their auras sharpened, electricity coursing around their bodies. The rocky terrain shook violently as the power of Super Saiyan 2 filled the battlefield.

Trunks staggered back a step, his eyes widening. "W-what… their energy just… doubled!" His voice trembled, the raw pressure pressing against his chest like a mountain.

Goku cracked his knuckles, his eyes gleaming. "Ready for round two, Gohan.?" His voice was playful, " This is Super Saiyan 2, "but his ki was terrifying, enough to make the air hum with static.

Beside him, Gohan's face went pale. "Super Saiyan 2?" His fists tightened, his heart pounding in disbelief. I thought Super Saiyan was the peak. I thought. I'd finally caught up. But this—this is something else entirely.

"Don't hold back, boy," Vegeta said coldly, his gaze boring into Trunks. "If you think you can surpass me with childish tricks, then prove it. Otherwise, I'll crush you where you stand."

Trunks grits his teeth. He knew of this form—from his past memories, from the anime of what Gohan had achieved against Perfect Cell. But seeing it here, raw and alive before him, was overwhelming. "Damn it. I knew this was coming. but I wasn't ready to face it head-on."

The fight reignited instantly.

Goku blurred forward, his movements sharper and faster than before. Gohan barely raised his arms in time before a punch slammed into his guard, the shockwave blasting chunks of rock off the cliffs. The sheer speed left him reeling. He's so much faster—!

Vegeta descended on Trunks like a storm, his strikes precise and merciless. Trunks managed to parry one blow, but the second was already there, smashing into his ribs. Pain shot through his side as he was hurled across the battlefield.

"Trunks!" Gohan shouted, but his distraction cost him—Goku's roundhouse kick slammed into his gut, sending him skidding back.

Trunks coughed, blood touching his lips as he struggled to stand. Vegeta landed gracefully in front of him, his aura sparking with deadly intensity. "Pathetic. You have the power… but you lack discipline. You think raw strength will carry you through a battle? Foolish."

Trunks roared, igniting his own golden aura, pushing himself to Super Saiyan. His sword flashed in his hand.

The sword turned black.

Trunks swung in a desperate arc. But Vegeta was already there, his hand snapping forward to catch the blade mid-swing. Sparks flew as Vegeta's ki hardened around his palm.

Trunks' eyes widened. "Impossible—!"

"Not impossible," Vegeta snarled, his voice low and fierce. "I told you. You're still too green." With a surge of power, Vegeta's knee slammed into Trunks' stomach. The Trunk's vision blurred as pain wracked his body.

Meanwhile, Gohan was on the defensive, his every movement pushed to the limit just to survive. Goku's blows were relentless, precise yet playful, like a predator testing his prey.

"Gohan!" Goku shouted mid-combat, a smile still on his face. "Don't panic! Read my movements! Trust yourself!"

But Gohan's mind was racing. He's faster, stronger, everything about this form is on another level. I can't keep up.I can't—

Goku suddenly vanished with instant transmission, reappearing behind him with a chop to the neck. Gohan barely twisted in time, countering with a desperate back kick that only grazed Goku's chest.

"Not bad!" Goku laughed before slamming his fist into Gohan's shoulder, sending him tumbling.

On the other side of the battlefield, Trunks collapsed to one knee, clutching his side. His Super Saiyan aura flickered, struggling to hold. Vegeta stood tall above him, utterly unscathed.

Damn it. I knew father was strong, but this gap—it's like a canyon.

Both Gohan and Trunks regrouped, standing side by side, their breaths heavy and their bodies battered. They exchanged a glance, unspoken words passing between them. They knew—they couldn't win. Not yet.

But they had to try.

With a united cry, they charged again, throwing everything they had into one last desperate assault. Their fists flew, their ki flared, their spirits screamed against the impossible wall before them.

But in the end, it wasn't enough.

Vegeta sidestepped Trunks' final slash, his counter-punch knocking the sword from his hands. At the same moment, Goku ducked under Gohan's strike and delivered a clean uppercut that sent him soaring into the sky.

The fathers moved in unison, their power overwhelming, their experience unshakable. With a final clash of energy, Goku and Vegeta struck them down—sending Gohan and Trunks crashing into the cliffs, rubble exploding outward as the earth trembled.

Dust clouded the battlefield. The echoes of the impact hung in the air.

The battle was over.
