Chapter 11 - A Good Man

Admittedly, Karl admitted that his fiancée was indeed big and white. Sometimes, he even had the urge to play a few rounds of basketball with her, but she was, after all, his legal fiancée!

So, what was going on now?

"Mr. Hockley, you're here." Facing Karl's face, which was green with envy, Li Qingyuan wasn't the least bit embarrassed, and instead greeted him warmly.

Heaven and earth could testify, he really didn't have a habit of giving others the green hat. If anyone was to blame, it was only the naive and sweet girl who was too proactive.

Anyway, he was absolutely clear-conscienced. A person as upright as himself would naturally not do anything illegal or disorderly.

Karl had initially been wondering about the relationship between Ruth and Li Qingyuan, but seeing Li Qingyuan's actions, he started to doubt his own thoughts.

Had he seen things wrong just now?

It must be Ruth giving him a massage, right?

I must be too nervous. This Mr. Li seems incredibly upright, and besides, Easterners seem very cautious about relationships. I'm definitely overthinking this!

As an excellent male second lead, Karl was quite open-minded regarding Ruth's lifestyle. In the original story, even when Ruth ran off with Jack, he could pretend not to notice.

It was only when Ruth insisted Jack paint her an Erotic Painting and then deliberately left it on the table for Karl to see that his anger finally consumed him, causing him to abandon his usual kindness.

After all, anyone would lose it in a situation like that!

You go off and fool around with another man, causing me to lose face, and then you even send the picture directly to me. That's the ultimate insult!

So, after Li Qingyuan spoke to him with such righteous words, Karl realized he had been thinking too much.

"Mr. Li, you mentioned that Prince Qing's financial director is already awaiting your arrival in New York. I was wondering, do you have any investment plans for your trip to New York?" Everyone on the ship believed the identity Li Qingyuan had fabricated, partly because his demonstrated abilities were indeed convincing.

At least he had the advantage of over a hundred years of knowledge. Although he couldn't go into specific details, he could easily bullshit people on the big picture.

What made him even more trustworthy was that Li Qingyuan said Prince Qing's financial director in America was already waiting at the New York harbor. As soon as the ship docked, he would be in charge of Prince Qing's asset investments in America, with a total asset value of two million pounds!

Such a huge sum of money, two million pounds, let alone a nobody like Karl, even Karl the Second would have to speak on their knees.

As for whether the other party was a fraud?

The ship would arrive in New York in at most seven or eight days. If he was a fraud, who would dare to boast like that?

Could he fly to the sky after swindling someone?

For the sake of two million pounds, Karl decided to define what he had just seen as a head massage.

"After getting to know each other these past two days, I think the main investment should be in railroads and movies," Li Qingyuan flipped through a so-called plan, saying as he did.

Anyway, no one here can understand Chinese, so they can only stare blankly at whatever is written.

"Movies? Qingyuan, are you planning to invest in movies?" Before Karl could speak, Ruth was instantly excited.

Movies were still a new industry in those days, only about forty years since their invention, a definite sunrise industry.

Moreover, the film industry was still relatively high-end. Movie stars were basically upright celebrities, and there were few messy unspoken rules. Female stars were admired by everyone, and even if their private lives were chaotic, it wouldn't be as sordid as in later generations.

Especially for someone like Ruth, who was fun-loving and a bit of a sweetie, making movies was definitely something that would excite her.

"I do have that plan." To be honest, if the mission didn't require him to blow up the Titanic the day after tomorrow, he really was planning to go to Hollywood to make movies.

"Great! Let me be the leading lady, okay? I can definitely handle it!" Ruth smiled at him, then turned around to show off her figure.

To be fair, although Ruth's waist was a bit thicker than those delicate, slender waists, she had advantages in other areas.

Seeing this, Li Qingyuan actually let his thoughts wander a little.

With hundreds of years of advanced experience and a thorough understanding of classic movies, he should be able to become a Hollywood godfather. Then, he could have a rotating cast of top actresses, never the same one twice.

He could even switch to male stars if he got tired of the actresses!

Never mind, he shouldn't think like that; he was a righteous person, and his thoughts shouldn't be so impure.

"Um, Mr. Li, would you like to know about steel?" Karl was already used to his fiancée's sudden outbursts.

With a fiancée like her, he could only wonder how he'd been fooled by her appearance and... well, never mind.

She didn't seem like a lady from a noble family at all.

"Steel? The industry looks okay now, but I think its potential is limited. There's a high probability it will collapse within the next twenty years." Li Qingyuan shook his head. He remembered that Karl had gone bankrupt and committed suicide during the economic crisis more than a decade later.

Seeing as the other party had been relatively respectful to him these past few days, Li Qingyuan felt he should at least give him a hand.

Even if I paid.

"Mr. Li, our Hockley Group is currently researching new types of steel. Believe me, once we succeed, it will definitely lead a new round of steel innovation. If you invest now, you will get at least three times, no, five times the return!" Karl absolutely didn't believe Li Qingyuan's statement that the steel market would collapse within twenty years. However, he desperately needed new investment because the Hockley Group's research and development had reached a critical moment.

Any technological innovation requires a massive amount of funds. Even though the Hockley Group was a giant in the steel industry, they were still somewhat inadequate when faced with astronomical research and development expenses.

Karl had already considered abandoning the research and development. But now that he had met a wealthy benefactor from the Qing Dynasty on the ship, he naturally wouldn't give up this opportunity.

"Mr. Hockley, I really think the steel industry is already in an inflationary phase. I think investing in the steel industry is definitely not..."

Li Qingyuan was about to send Karl away, but his words were blocked by a report that the other party presented.

"Mr. Hockley, I think the steel technology innovation you just mentioned is very promising. I need to study it carefully!"
